Two Moruga fishermen were attacked while at sea in the Cedros area.
According to police reports, the victims, Pete and Christopher Granger, were fishing about two miles off the coast of Icacos when they observed a pirogue heading in their direction from Venezuela.
The men claimed there were four men in the other boat, and they shouted at them in Spanish.
Moments later gunshots rang out, hitting Pete in his upper chest and back.
His brother took over at this point, and brought the boat ashore at Lalla Street in Icacos.
Pete was rushed to the Cedros Health Facility.
It was only on Monday that various Fishing Associations joined together to deliver a letter to Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley, requesting a meeting to discuss ways to make the seas safer.
