Blackpool 1988 dancing on the podium. Loved this tune! Here I am now aged 63 listening to it again and feeling just the same. In my minds eye I can still see the lasers flashing to the beat forming spiders web designs. Everyone danced their hearts out. The atmosphere was electric One of my all time favourites.
Man oh man what a tune haven't heard this in years... I'm 54 years old, I probably heard this the last time I was in club km in Benidorm in 2001. Saddened to hear of Mory Kanté's passing. RIP... Yeke Yeke...
I was at a rave back in 1994 in Los Angeles. Back then they were smaller parties that were usually in an illegal warehouse. I was in one of the rooms and let's just say I was drinking water. The DJ played this and the crowd went wild! Hearing this takes me right back to those days. Oh how I miss them terribly! ❤❤❤❤❤
similar, at a rave at folken in norway and the local dj spun this up towards the end of the party.. it could easily be a 'where were you the first time you heard yeke yeke hardfloor remix ?' :)
Manumission, KU, Ibiza (circa 1995). Lost all my friends, walked into room two to hear this with the sun coming up. I remember the feeling more than the picture now.
I was on the Space Ibiza Terrace one Sunday evening in 2002. Carl Cox was on the decks and unusually he was playing pretty flat that night. Most of the crowd were moving around listlessly, wanting to have a good time but not able to find that euphoric groove. The DJ effortlessly mixed in the familiar baseline of Yeke Yeke. At first there were some groans as the track was quite old and many in the audience wanted to hear new music. But then the sound of the harp-like Cora came in followed by the iconic vocals and everyone started cheering. Carl Cox let the song play right to the end by which time the whole club was moving and dancing as one in perfect unity. I will never forget that moment for as long as I live. RIP More Kanté.
Can you believe this is 30 years old? So blessed to have been a teenager growing up to this and the other classics from that error - what I would do to go back for a night back in those days best times ever! Kids of today will never know - god bless the 90’s and very early 2000’s 🕺🏻🔥
Yeah they will. I went clubbing for first time in 20 odd years 2 weeks ago. They played this along with loads of songs from similar era. Absolutely banging. Took me right back. 2024 is the year I'm back clubbing. You never lose it, it was exactly the same feeling.
Shakespeare Club, Split, Dalmatia, Croatia 1994-1996. One of d best tunes 👌 One of d anthems for all d ravers all around d world 🕺 Mory Kante R.I.P. 🕯 Thank U & RAVE ON !
I heard this on vacation in Sweden in 1999 and of course had to buy it, knowing this would never be heard in the usa. It's about to be 2023 and I still play it, Awesome tune - a forever song.
The days when I left work Friday night, got home Sunday morning......yeah, OK early afternoon lol. This tune, on first hearing it, instantly took me to a "higher state" and that's sober! This song for me reminds me of fun, being young, having no responsibilities and a feeling of "f*ck yeah!" I get lost in dancing like 'noone is watching' every single time I hear this song! It's, ........there's no words to describe how good it is, I love it.
Reading some of the comments …. Some quality moments … Last time I heard this was at Canvas Yard Leeds 2023, the first time I heard it my Dad played it on vinyl in his bedroom one weekend, he was dancing away with one hand pointing to the beat, I was like OMG what is this song Dad ?!?!?!? So cool!!!!
I've never heard this remix till today. The drop and build up halfway is sent from the heavens and sent me to somewhere I haven't been for a while. Just beautiful.
RIP Mory Kante Without doubt one of the most iconic Dance tracks of all time. I am pretty sure every single one of us has a lifelong memory involving this tune. One of the greats! RIP 🖤
Just read that Mory Kante died earlier today :-( This will always take me back to 1995, 19-years-old, hands in the air, final tune of the night, hugging your mates on the dancefloor.
I actually never knew about the original in 1987 until yesterday when I saw that Mr Kante had passed away. This mix is now going to get cranked up on the stereo......RIP and thankyou for this tune !!
I love all of the versions of this song, from original to every remix, I've been listening to this since I was 16, love it - was so sad to see he had died! he caused DJ'S all over the world to play this and for us to dance to it!
Love parade 2000 in Leeds, recording bbc radio 1 transmission with this track, so energetic with all that crowd in background... damn, what a great time it was.
Saturday night on lock down in the uk. ironic isnt it, how the world is now closer than ever. but physically distant. stay safe.92 to 1993 was fascinating
