best breath control and mic skills ive ever seen. he actually raps, no back track, no bullshit, still playing the classics. peace to mighty mos, real hip hop.
Word. The most part of these "spectators" is the people that don`t even listen at least one album of Mos Def but they have friends who can get you a pass on the battle (because battle is not for everybody, it`s a "close" event). Moreover, the ambiance and furnishing on the battle are differs from the concert - people come to V1 for dance battles, not for the music.
They have no clue. i'm bouncin all over the place...diggin his vocals...this is great. im more excited than these spectators. an watchin from the lap top, in the bed!!! smh they have no clue
Holy shit the crowd! They didn't deserve to witness most def, especially the set he had I mean wtf! I would of died and gone to heaven 5 times if I were there.
9:01 Cream of the planet 12:40 Casa Bey 16:20 Auditorium 21:25 Priority 22:50 Hip hop 24:35 Mathematics 30:40 Life in marvelous times 34:25 Undeniable 40:00 Supermagic 51:45 Quiet dog bite hard 55:33 Fake bonanza 1:00:00 Umi says 1:02:35 Travellin man
I first thought that 99% of that crowd don’t deserve to be there, then I read a few comments of european crowds in being respect and awe with stillness. I can rock with that.
This is phenomenal. The first track is an instrumental from a Ghanaian highlife legend Alhaji K Frimpong from a song titled "Chen Chen bi adi mawu" Mos is definitely tapping deep from his roots in Africa.
Correction its Vis A Vis - Obi Agei Mi Dofo Meaning "Someone stole my girlfriend" Recorded in 1977 lead Vocals by Anthony Yeboah. Both Vis A Vis and Alahji K Frimpong were on the same label Ofo Bros (Ofori Brothers) If you've noticed they have a similar sound, this was mainly because Vis A Vis Band featured on most of his albums. Check out Sammy Cropper and his Wire Connection (Lead guitarist) released in 1978 on Makossa Label Album title "Papa Akwasi" produced by A.K. Brobbey from Kumasi. He was also a Record dealer.
Nope....it's the same backing band but they released their own track ago (edited) as the Vis a Vis band from Ghana 🇬🇭 also sampled by Martin Solveig fir a track called Cabo parano
He is beastin...breath control is stupid...one hit after the other...not missing a beat. This set is amazing and they are just staring into the beyond...man...bring this back to the US and go on tour so we can really rock with a brotha! Dude a straight legend!
Mos Def(Yasiin Bey) is one of my favorites. He is authentic Hip Hop. They probably expected him to be the typical image they expected. He's not. So out of respect their listening. This makes performance even more exciting. He got them paying attention. He's coming from a spiritual aspect of the message of hip hop . This is a Brooklyn King.
This made me emotional, I can’t contain myself, His vibe is contagious. Thankful to have the opportunity to experience this through the screen! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
YOOO I played this concert on the big screen in my loft and I really made me feel as if I was in the Concert...It was a Great Bey Performance.. Big Respect Bey and Keep it goin....
Instrumental taken from vis-vis Ghanaian Highlife fusion classic Obi Agye mi dofo. Bey really dug deep in the black music archive for his gem. Most of the audience have know idea 💡
It’s crazy watching Mos go through his creative process during this show, the way he finishes one song and blends into the next is incredible….it’s almost like he ends up there rather than planning to be there. Right around the 43:00 minute mark he hits this amazing stride and by 48:30 he’s literally spinning in circles like a top while the music crescendos. So dope, such an amazing talent.
It is one of my ultimate dreams to be able to see this man, the one and only Mos, Yasiin Bey, live. A Brooklyn Shakespeare, a master craftsman and living legend.
His performance was so beautiful. I watched the entire thing. The crowd comes alive and then he takes them on a musical journey that had the power to set minds free. Thank you Mos Def!
Contrary to how it appears on the surface, I get the impression that This Crowd is TOTALLY FEELIN' our Brother Yasiin. Around 30+ minutes they were Rockin' with the Brother "Mos Definitely". ShalomPeaceSalaam THEY KNOW AND ROCK...... "PUSHKIN". BUHLEEEDAT!
They know who Def be.... Legend isnt a Big enough word. I first saw this Living Legend Perform in Washington Square Park for free in summer 1989 or 90. I paid to see him perform at the "Muse" meat packing district that same winter. Those people are in 'SHOCK' ! How do you behave when God is on stage. Everyone is Breathless...micdrops.. He been the Best.. Most soulful, Lyrical,Original. Fuck a Chart topping single ... We already Know... He's one of the MCs that come before the Top 5.. Somebody tell him... We said it.
He rocks to any beat! Thank u for this live concert. Wondering why the audience is not into it -lame. You’re at a live show, get up out your seats & dance. This was amazing & the energy, ❤ Mos!!!!
I am now behind schedule because I found this haha been jamming for 35 mins! I'm finally pressing pause so I can get in the car and drive to the laundromat 🥰 put in my earbuds and listen to the rest! Good vibes!!
I love Mos so much and seen him rock live........I aint even paying attention to the crowd!!! Im gettin bizzy in my kitchen watching this right now!!!!!!!!!!
Wow just got chill a watching this. The crowd had 1 dude actually singing any of his lyrics. I would have been bugging out! Mos is the man. New black star what whaaaat!
This is a perfect HD recording of a stellar display of masterful artistry. If your perception of the crowd's reception is a distraction, your big takeaway, or what motivated a comment, then you are the one who really does not appreciate what Yasiin gave us here.
@marroon rider Oh word. Ok. I hear that. Makes sense. I was a bit pissed off but after hearing you say that and looking again, I sense respect in their head nod and stillness. Maybe they are showing respect in their stillness.
Yeeea I’m really not tryin to just be a troll but half the crowd is, as you put it showing genuine interest. But, and it seems to be most of the people right behind him, would have been on their phones if they hadn’t been taken away (which I can only assume they were). End of the day, props to MOS for a sick performance regardless of what the reality was.
I’m appalled at the crowd ! I listened to this 10 times today , screaming and dreaming I could be there , I LOVE YOU DANTE !!! Yasiin , my god , my father MCEE
even though he doesn't speak the "mother tongue", he speaks in the cadence and tone to show respect and gratitude. i don't know if it was intentional, but he is a true human being, artist, musician and soul.
years ago my elderly parents somehow had lunch with mos def. their first question was "do you know who Mos Def is?" I said.... the rapper? my mom instantly says, he is such a nice boy. lol
My dads brother is best friends with a family that owns a venue. My uncle got tickets at the front table to every show, but probably rarely used them. So when my parents were in town they all decided to use them. Before the show they had lunch with Mos Def, who was probably more surprised to be seated next to an elderly couple. One of the things my dad said, did you know he has his own language?? lol my dad was so used to proper english he didn't understand slang all that well. but my mom and dad both commented that he was very very polite and asked a lot of questions and genuinely sounded interested.
@@bryanhayes4605 oh my gosh! Thanks for retelling that! I am enjoying to picture it so much! I think what is so touching is that it's clear from your story that your parents connected deeply to Yasiin (Mos Def) and he to them in a spiritual way, in the kind of way that is the basis for all music, for why we love him so much. I can imagine your parents are quite special and that it was a true recognition of mutual decency. 🥂
thank you for "REAL HIP HOP!!" just bouncing my head back n forth... rocking side to side. turning my lips up.. oooooo come on ...do yo thang! MOS DEF..
