It has been a dream to create a large table for friends to sit and enjoy the garden. My old art college table has been used in years, so I decided to jigsaw cut a circle out, and a smaller circle in the centre for the parasol. This has to be my favourite mosaic so far... possibly because I'm repurposing my ole drawing board, which had happy memories, and also because I got to use some very delightful tessera. This is the first time I used Cinca and Cesi porcelain tiles, and they were beautiful to cut! Enjoy!
Materials:
15mm external wooden board
Rewmar Flexy Fix caulking glue (white)
Cesi & Cinca Porcelain Tiles (10 x 20cm and 20 x 20 cm )
A variety of Unctuous Deliciousness - glass tiles, beads etc
Mapei Ultracolour plus 120 Black

Another great project for your home, you do realize that by the time you get old and go to the great beyond that your home will no doubt become a museum of your work? The Historical Home of the great mosaic artist Caroline Jerriweller. (sp)

Hi, I love your work/art...you inspire me! Thank you for always sharing your tools and supplies by type. That helps so much. I haven't seen where you use any type of sealant after grouting. I'm specifically looking to see if you seal any of your outdoor/garden pieces. I recently tiled my first thing (outdoor table) and I'm LOVING it. I can't wait to do more!

It's lovely but I'm reluctant to recommend using plywood as this has already delaminated... however I do have a plan to make and repurpose the tessera so that nothing is wasted! 😁

Oh wow, I thought your owl was wonderful, but this...THIS is just gorgeous. I especially love the first 'ring' of small square patterned tiles around the edge, can I ask where you bought them from please? I have dithered and faffed about for absolutely years wanting to try mosaic (ing)?? is that even a word lol...but I seem to spend forever looking at different tiles, ( never quite knowing if I'd be buying the right kind of tile 🤪 ) old plates, glue, grouting, cutters, snips aaaaargh and then get overwhelmed and never get started!!...and it haunts me that I never take the plunge and get flippin' going with things. x

Take the plunge.... no real point saying where I bought one thing to another as really it's all about what you like and what works for you! Take the leap... go to local mosaic workshops and practice, learn, experiment and ENJOY!!!

@@mangomosaics I too would love to know where you got the little tiles around the edges. I fell in love with them and cant find them anywhere! The smallest ones i have found are two inches.

These are Cinca and Cesi porcelain tiles. They're external grade tiles. I'm sure you'll find them on line or through a Mosaic supplier

I've got tarpaulin covering the table at the moment...but that said it is ok for outside.

@@Roy-G-Biv I don't understand? What do you mean 'in spots'? And your suggestion to use glass would make it more precarious ie something falling and breaking the glass... let alone the weight! BTW I live in England not America so no extreme weather comparatively 😘

Look at Ebay. I think I did a search on tribal mosaic tiles. They come in sheets. But I did buy them over three years ago so they may not be available now! 🤷🏾‍♀️

My mosaic artist friend from Manchester sells porcelain tiles. Please do contact her. Her website is www.traceycartledge.co.uk/ But if you're asking where I get ALL my tiles... the answer is... shops everywhere!
