MOSFET Electroscope detects static charge. In a very dry day we all experience the effect of electric charge on our body by some means. Suppose you are sitting on a sofa wearing some woolen cloth, when you are standing, your body becomes electrically charged, now if you touch a doorknob or other metal object you will experience an electrical shock. When our body or any other object is electrically charged, it is possible to detect with this electroscope. I am going to show you how it works.

Without specifying the TVS leakage you have no way to calculate the effective input resistance.

Actually I am using two back to back Zener diodes instead of TVS diode. TVS diodes are basically Schottky diodes which have high leakage currents. Of course Zener diodes also have leakage, but less than the MOSFETs. So I did not mention it much, and it works pretty well though, better than my expectations.

I took a look at the datasheet of those Zener diodes, the reverse leakage current is ~50 nA. So few hundred mega Ohm in parallel with the MOSFET leakage. As it practically works fine, should not be an issue.
