Is mourning with those who mourn part of our baptismal covenant? I recently heard it wasn’t and reread Alma 18 closely and I can see the argument that Alma was asking as a prerequisite maybe but then moves on to the covenant after? I can see the argument but I was taught this my entire life. I also couldn’t find direct quotes from prophets saying it was. So I thought I’d turn to the covenant expert team in you two haha.

Since the essence of the baptismal covenant is to take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ = to live like him, then we are also committing to mourn with those that mourn, etc. Anyone teaching otherwise is splitting hairs, I think.
