In the latest update for Sniper Elite 5, the Mosin-Nagant received a buff to increase its damage and velocity. When the rifle was first released, it felt a bit underwhelming. We check it out now to see how it feels now after the latest patch.

Having used all the weapons and obtaining all the medals available in Campaign Mode the Mosin is my pick of the bunch. It is equal to the Springfield in this game as there is not any need for 600 effective range versus the Mosin at 550. However suppressed my Mosin still gets 152 HP at only 69 audible range. With subsonic it is 18 meters. Just cleared the courtyard in Occupied Residence tossing grenades, setting mines and sniping with the subsonic. Great fun and enough dummies try to run up the stairs in the sniper tower to keep you supplied with grenades and mines. Its main advantage is a really good effective range and the ability to suppress the audible range to only 69 meters and that is great. It also has a much higher rate of fire than what the specifications say. There is just also a slightly faster mobility when following an enemy trying to catch up with them as they run about, not much but definitely a bit more mobile. So at the moment it is my favorite. I love to play around with the Winchester, however for a perfect run I pick the Mosin. The Springfield is just too loud and adding a suppressor cuts the power down a bit too much. So the Springfield was King, until they buffed the Mosin and there is a new Kid on the Block. Cheers Kit

The Mosin is a good weapon now after the patch, but I still prefer the M.1903. The 10x Authentic Zoom is what makes it for me.

Agreed 100% and you can use match grade with the Mosin abd and it's still quite than the 1903 with a 770m effective range and velocity of 1300 plus (if memory serves me right) with 2hp higher than springfield and 10m less audible than the 1903 with regular ammo. Only thing it lacks is that 16x A2 scope that I love. On authentic the 1903 does have 10x vs the 8x

Putting a surpressor on the Mosin doesn't surpress power, only velocity. You can have max power with 69m audible range. Click so you can the stats NOT the bar graph. Only velocity goes down but on bar it counts as power

I say that Mosin has finally found the right spot for being the perfect middle ground for the Kar98 and Springfield M1903 in SE5. Before it used to be off the mark in terms of its damage and muzzle velocity

Power and velocity is all I wanted from the mosin. It can have the slowest rechamber slowest reload and loudest sound. As long as it can actually reach and kill at retarded ranges.

I think the buff has improved it in those areas for sure. Now we can get some long range kills.

I try to challenge myself so i use the m1 carbine. Its nice to get those second and third shots off quickly
