I Nomax bag just came the other day so I haven’t had a chance to use it yet but it is a very nice bag. Very beefy and heavy. I’m just concerned that it’s over-built for my needs but nobody else makes a convertible tank bag-backpack. It would be nice to see them make a "light" version of this with may be only a single main large compartment with organization. Maybe even have hook and loop panels and sell different pouches and organizers that you could configure based on your needs. I'd also love to see a waterproof version or at least a highly water resistant version with waterproof zippers so you don’t need to break out the waterproof cover in a rainstorm. That just seems like a giant pain in the butt. Anyway, thanks for the very detailed and informative video. Cheers!

I have the Nomad bag. The quality is definitely there and it will probably still be functional long after the world ends. I like the organization of the bag and the molle and it is definitely a step ahead of most bags that are one large compartment and maybe a couple smaller ones. However, there are a couple things that I would like to see in any future generation. And I am not sure the Nomax has fixed them. For large ADV bikes like the GSA with the eight plus gallon tank a slightly larger bag would be nice. Maybe an inch or so longer, wider and taller. Also, the compartments limit the use of carrying a SLR camera like the EOS. There just isn't the space for that size camera for those that like to keep the camera close and easy to use. I don't use the water bladder. There are too many other choices even backpacks available made by Mosko Moto that are easier to use the bladder. I like the idea of being able to drink on the ride without stopping but the bladder is just too close to a tank that can and often does get warm during a ride. The bladder as part of the tank bag is cleaver but it is just not for me. It is easier to carry a bottle of water somewhere else. Other than that the quality of the bag is likely unsurpassed in any other tank bag made by any other manufacturer. I give it five stars.

Brilliant video. I bought one right away after seeing it on another channel, and then your video popped up. I've always bought cheap luggage, but I'm really impressed with this tank bag. And your channel is excellent. Subbed of course right away.

You can tell a company does their design research by how well thought out the little things are. Like the various pouches the little Swiss army like tool. This is why this bag is a great investment. Thanks for highlighting all this Mason.

I agree! It was cool to see the small differences and refinements on the Nomax without a complete redesign. The Nomad with all the separations and pockets works so well that it wasn't needed. They have done a great job again 👍

I recently bought a Nomax bag for my Tiger Rally Pro, just prior to a 2800 mile trip. What a difference compared the the large ‘junk drawer’ style bag on my touring bike. After a few days, you remember exactly where everything is stored, and then whatever you need is quickly available. What a great design by Mosko. The only issue I had was installing the ‘dog collar’ on the Tiger. Got it done, but it’s a little unorthodox. I actually rode by Mosko on my trip, and Jen took some pics of how I had to set mine up, so who knows, maybe Mosko will come up with a better solution. Curious how Shooter Tech managed it on his Tiger. Great review as always!

Nice! I like that you guys recycle and up-fit each other when you get new gear. Too many videos these days are concentrated on getting new and not necessarily better gear just for the sake of getting the gear. Outfitting the guys you ride with makes everyone’s ride better and allows longer tests of the equipment. Be good to see at the end of next season how the tank bag is holding up. For the average user it’s a testament that real riders can honestly say this bags is still good three years and two riders into its life! Long term testing isn’t done enough these days as everyone upgrades way before the equipments real life span is over. We all need to recycle as much as possible whenever possible. (Understanding of course that you do need to upgrade to review new equipment as well) as I said good on you and good on your buddies for not playing the one up game and using the good used equipment!

Hey Jim. Yeah, after 5 years with the nomad tank bag, I only upgraded so I could stay current with the new equipment. The side effect of that is the used gear get passed around and buying quality at the beginning makes that much easier. Melon has both the tank bag and my old R80 and will get many more years of use out of that set :) Cheers!

I was wondering how you kept hydrated and you answered it at the end. Until I purchased a Camel back I used to struggled to keep hydrated, now I understand how frequent sips of water mean I ride better for longer and enjoy the ride even more!

Hey Drew! Yeah, I have 2 setups for hydration. The one shown in this vid is the setup on the R80 for the trips and then I have the same mosko pouch on the beavertail of my 25ltr Scout for the local rides. Works great 👍

I just started watching your channel and am very impressed with your organization. You’ve obviously done this a long time. I don’t mean to offend but I’m surprised your still on a KLR. Great bikes to ride anywhere in the world due to parts availability but so many other middleweights have surpassed it in performance it seems.

I’ve always said an older beat up klr is the perfect bike to ride the entire pan American highway due to parts available all the way down South America and less worried if it gets stolen but very reliable bike. It’s been a dream of mine. I just ordered the 2023 890 adventure R. I’m 55, recently retired fireman and coming out of the dirt bike world (excf plated 350) which I’ll never sell. I can ride Any bike but adventure thing is brand new to me. I have a lot to learn but the revolver 80 seems like the right system as I plan on doing as much technical single track this new bike can manage. Thx again for all the advice

I used my nomax for a while now and I run water bladder with it as a replacement for Kriega T9 backpack. It saved me from carrying anything/anyweight on my body which is great! However if I filled it with maximum capacity (2L?) water in the bladder then it will eat quite a bit into the main storage compartment. If I only fill a liter in then everything is good. Molle system with phone case is not the best/convienience but OK. Build quality was top notch as other said(and reflected by its price). Probably outlast your motorcycle lol.

So much more going on with those bags compared to my Nelson Rigg in terms of features and the ability to have a specific spot for stowed items. I am looking at getting some vehicle wrap material to make a decal/scuff guard for my tank because the grit that kicks up while trail riding that gets between the tank and bag are scratching my tank pretty bad. Did the Nomad scratch or is the material against the tank such that this doesn't happen? Thanks for the videos.

I have some tank wear from the straps where my knees press against the nylon but the soft base of the bag hasn't done any damage to the tank.

Just bought one of these for my KLR and so far very happy with it. I noticed you are running a dash riser - KLR dark or similar - but without the plate across the dash that you would normally mount accessories like the GPS/Phone to. So how are you mounting everything up? Be good to see a video on your setup there. Cheers, Brent (NZ)

Hey Brent. Congrats on the purchase! I built my own riser so it didn't come with the plate your referring too but I use ram mounts down to a support I have mounted between the two lower screen screws. Cheers!

No, I push my legs into it but when its up to the bars its not uncomfortable. Still plenty of room.

The new Nomax bag is great and fits the KLR well enough. Plus it is not too tall or wide so you can get up over it when needed and the bars can turn lock to lock. Realizing each set up is different, but the only wish is if they had some sort of quick flap to get to the gas tank filler cap easier as I have to disconnect 3 of the 4 clips on the straps to fill up. Not a huge complaint on a warm day. A pain on a cold rainy day with old fingers.

Hey Paul. So your comment made me go look at my setup because I only have to undo one (right side) clip and I can swing the bag over to the left. The difference is, with my straps mounted to the crash bars, the left strap can slide on the bar once the right side is undone. Giving the bag the room to swing to the left.

@@masonsadv I think I will try something like that. (Using Dirtrack full wrap around crash bars). I used the MM supplied straps on the frame and it does not lend to just removing one strap to get to the gas cap. Thanks for the tip!

Battery chargers for the cams, 360 camera, drone, drone controller and sometimes a portable battery pack. I have also ran a line to the Sena if needed.

I've been waiting to get my hands on some Mosko Moto Backcountry Panniers. They have been out of stock most of the year and now that they are back in stock they jacked the price up from $750 to $900 (US). Oh, did I want the pockets? $45 to $75 a piece. New set, now $1050. That's crazy !!! Those Tusk bags are looking better and better.

@@masonsadv I already have hard panniers, that's why I have waited all year for the soft ones. It just really P's me off they got that greedy. When they were out of stock, the old prices were displayed.

Prices for everything have exploded in the last year. Mosko would just be passing off their increased costs. Materials, labor and shipping have all really jumped. If their costs have gone up, they need to recoup it. I can say, having been in the manufacturing industry, when you look at their stuff, it definitely isn't cheap to make. That's why they have to do direct to consumer. Otherwise, with retail and distribution, the costs would be double. Look at it this way, they have been out of stock of most things for most of the year. Yet, they have a large staff and expenses they needed to look after the entire time, with no revenue coming in. Do you think they wanted to have an empty warehouse? They would have been much better having stock and keeping their prices as is, but it was out of their control. I was happy to drop dough on my latest R80 with them.

My "old man glasses" are progressives, so I can ride uncorrected, but if I have something small on the phone, I can still read that too. Mine must take up 10 times as much space (I have them in a hard case). I do have a pair that fold down to about the size of a disposable lighter, but I'm not a fan wearing them on the trail, so they stay in the shop.
