Wow, biting activity inreases 500x during a full moon? That explains why so many damn mosquitos came my damn camp site that night

The last 20 seconds were enlightening.

I hate these things I always wake up all itchy and hear one flying around but could never catch them. Mosquitos, one of Earth's natural A-holes :(

@BrOkEnCyDeGrRL27 endangered? GOOOD! now I can rest from the mosquito bites. A way to avoid these things are. Shower before sleep, use deodrant on yourself and spray some in the room for that nice smell that they hate and yes cover yourself, even though somehow they manage to get in either way...

If u hold ice on a mosquito bite, it goes away and doesn't itch any more :)

my legs are covered in scars from mosquitoe bites and where i live now has a different breed of them, WHICH ARE EVEN MORE ANNOYING

A full moon corresponds with the highest tide of the monthly lunar cycle. Mosquitoes are more active under a full moon since the higher tide will result in stranded pools of water on the fringe of the tidal marsh. These pools will remain stagnant for 28 days - barring storms. They need stagnant water to breed.

Take a look at wild guinees (or how ever you spell it) they eat so many gnats and mosquitos. and on the "other food topic" so they might have other food but if mosquitos where to go away, they would have less food meaning they have to eat more of everything else which could imbalance alot of stuff. im not saying birds would die or anything, im just saying if Mosquitos where to disappear completely things would have to do a bit of adapting or die off, which could be a big pain in the ass

So what i gather is that if we can eliminate water we can eliminate mosquitos............. God is so cruel.

He's doing fine, his diet consists of raw steak. The only thing I can't do is walk him. And I need to keep him away from Colonel Bradford my Leopard Gecko.

The mosquito almost killed me when I was eight, so I believe it. I got spinal meningitis, which quickly turned to encephalitis, which is an infection in the brain. I suffer from epilepsy, hearing damage, and short term memory loss now. But I am just happy to be alive.

i thought the frequency of bite had to do more with those who do not emit the "odor" some humans produce to repel the mosquito and not anything to do with being blonde or having stinky feet.

Mercedescl, while humans do kill a lot, mosquitoes throughout history and until now continue to kill hundreds daily, some few places like the U.S. have programs that strongly control mosquitoes especially ones with diseases but most places in the world aren't so fortunate, thousands get infected daily, with incurable diseases.

These are the one type of insect I kill on sight if I find it in my house. Spiders, not so bad, but these fuckers are vindictive little monsters. They've gone crazy where I live right now. I just woke up when I heard one drop from my windowsill and land on a wall a foot from my head, like a little buzzing tiger stalking prey. Tried to crush him, but he flew up, and then flew right back at me like Dracula spreading his cape or some shit. He was moving slow enough to backhand in midair.

sounds like the male mosquitoes are more like harmless honey bee.

Oh my fucking god I hate mosquitoes, my fucking arms have some many welps. There must have been a full moon a couple of days back because for the past two fucking days they've been none stop biting. Strange thing is, there weren't even any moisquitos up until then and there isn't any stagnant water for them to breed in around here so I don't know where the fuck they're coming from

They are part of the food cycle, that results in you being about to eat meat. Here's a good question, how do WE help the enviroment :)? PLanting trees, rescueing animals sure isn't a global impact. (Pollution sure is though.)

One tiny problem with that, if you remove any creature from the food chain it causes an imbalance which eventually circles to killing more species of creatures and eventually circles to ending the human race. I do agree they are very annoying. i too dislike them. we just need the DEET back in bug spray. It was what was repelling the bugs that annoy us.

Yesterday i meet a mosquito, he was such a good one. He asked if he could drink my blood unlike other stupid ones who go bites randomly people. And of course i said yes, he really was a good one. U people need to meet with him. And since that day, he would visit me sometimes and we would chat, i would feed him with my blood, we would play together, he was such a awesome friend. Of course i had some scars because of him but it was worth. Anyways yeah, i named that mosquito Jimmy and he liked his new name so much that he drank from my blood more. He is still alive and he gets fat everyday more. Soon he will be 2 kg, awesome right? Wish i could show him to you guys so u guys could also get one. Jimmy is an amazing mosquito that won't exist ever again. Guys i am back here with Jimmy, he is with me right now and he become really happy after he saw nice comments. Some of you guys call him a girl, no he is a boy. He was a bit shy but i looked whether he was a girl or not. Guess what? Now he haves a wife with 10 child. His wifes name is Janny. She is also a good mosquito, but now i have to feed them all with more blood. Yesterday Jimmy was a small child... Now hes all grown up. Jimmy, Jammy and their 10 kids are happy that i am with them. I am proud of my son.
