I shot and built 10/22 for rimfire bench in the early 90s and won matches against many competitors shooting anschutz that was the favorite in my neck of the wood along with a few Rems and full customs. With the right trigger rest and barrel and if the gods are in your favor they can be competitive. I went through 5 barrels before my bench rig was competitive. As far a throwing last round train your self to do a magchange prior to last round. Anyway looking great ...
I was shooting rimfirecentral postal matches around 2006-2008, and local club matches. Was using a Ruger 10/22 action, KIDD barrel and trigger, headspaced bolt, and a glass and pillar bedded Bell & Carlson stock. That 10/22 is damn close to my Remington Custom Shop 40XRBR. I'm sure there were others with 10/22s that were equal to or better than. The time limit with the USBR rules does somewhat favor an accurate semiauto rifle.
Interesting. I have about half of my mags that predictably throw fliers on specific round countin the mag. Do you change mags to avoid the 10th round? Or to make sure the first round of the next mag is loaded automatically?
@@TheSuburban15 if you look on RFC they had me listed as a distri for the USBR targets i recentlyasked them tobremove me as a source as i sold my business in Texas but use to shootbthe postal matches back in the eariwr years and even won one with a 10/22 yes headspaced, pillar bedded the whole nine yards. So 10/22s done right can be competitive
@@Jeff-mv4yy i try to swap mags at round 8 as I have had fliers early on some mags. I also have increase spring tension to help with mixed results. The joys of testing and tuning
Putting a thread in barrel on it eliminated one of the 10/22’s biggest weaknesses. I think it will hold up just fine. After it is fouled with wax and lead will it extract a live round? Those timed stages can get you.
Once again Kenny nice work. I owned a 1022 many years ago. It shot very well out of the box. I did have some reliability issues, such as feeding and extraction. One thing I do recall is it didn't take much shooting to make things get a little gummy. Thanks for sharing.

Kidd offers a Billet chassis, and his current Supergrade has a 1 and 7/8” barrel to receiver fit which should eliminate droop. With this setup my Kidd Supergrade shoots .2” all day at 50 yards for 5 shot groups. Easily shoots Sub MOA out to 200 yards. However beyond 200 it’s not as accurate as my bolt action CZ 457. I’m 5 months in waiting on my Kenny built RimX. Hopefully not too much longer wait Kenny? Thank you for your work and expertise!!!

I have a 20 year old receiver 10/22 green mountain barrel same age gun has several cases or more of ammo sent threw it. Vortex ffp scope Kidd trigger and bolt. Titan stock. This gun is so old taken out of the stock the pins fall out. I can stay with you all day with SK pistol at 50. The point is for not much more money you can get a Anni 1710 comp gun. I have one and well OH MY GOD it will shoot. Guys I know have a bunch of 10/22 home brew guns and well there just fun to build and shoot. You know why because you can say you built it! But when you start getting into the pushing the 2500 range for a build or more when do you say........ I am an older guy so building the guns is fun when your young. But at the end of the day what do you have? I am not knocking your vid you are me 40 years ago. Keep on the good work and the vids and I wish you the best of luck and shooting.

Yes. Its currently available as the LDR in a 16" barrel. Very soon, this version and some changes collaborated will be listed with Grey Birch. They will be working out the details, I'm just getting the reliability and accuracy dialed in

Excellent stuff. I built my son a 10/22 with a Volquartsen cabon fiber 16" barrel, Archangel stock, Volquartsen trigger and hammer group, squared up the face of the bolt. This rifle isn't a competition rifle but accurate, (not like the one in this video). It seemed to shoot Wolf Match extra the best when I put it together. Besides plinking it hasn't really been pressed. I definitely need to find what it shoots best with. That set up shoots excellent Eagle. Is there a solution for the last round in the mag, besides changing before the last shot?
Im working on that last round thing, it seems to chaulk up to the maring of the bullet when chambering and spring preload pressure. Not sure yet how to mitigate it other than trying different mags
I currently have the Tandemkross Manticore trigger on it. Has an ambidextrous AR style saftey and easy bolt hold open. A review was done on the Bergara BXR
10/22s don't toss the last round out of the group. From my competition experience using CenterX, 150 rds before I give the bolt face and breech end a wipe, relube and keep going. Swab chamber around 300rds. Good luck.. and yes, the 10/22 will keep up with the bolt rifles to 400yds. Note, my 10/22's use the conventional barrel install... no issues with accuracy at all but all are well bedded in their stocks
@Eagle Eye Shooting Nice video, question who makes the action? Is this a grey birch custom action with threading or is that something that was added later? I would definitely be looking to purchase an action like that, and if you sell barrels or barreled actions a set from your company.
Testing many lots since the beginning of the year hasn't produced groups nearly as good as SK or Lapua lately. Still giving Eley a try with the 1023-5000's lot
They are equally the same. Most clients live in states where humidity and rainfall pose issues for a chromoly barrel. Coating a barrel just adds more time and possible issues

Exactly how do you get on your list for machine work? I sent you a email/request for machining a 10/22 barrel months ago but as of yet not even a reply.
We dont take in client provided parts and our shop is limiting gunsmithing work to certain actions due to current workload. I would suggest to let us build you a complete rifle if you want our signature accuracy
@@EagleEyeShooting I was not going to supply any parts the request was for you to turn a Shilen ratchet barrel with a somewhat reverse tapper like the green mountain muzzel weighted. I wish we could have gotten together on this but the BR season has started and I am sticking with what I have. Like grandpa says "boy, don't get off a good thing"
