Lets be real here Chris, my most anticipated movie of 2024 is Shelby Oaks! As an aspiring self-made filmmaker like you I am very much looking forward to seeing what you cooked up for your first film.🙏
@@joostverra9130in the spring of last year he said he was almost done and I believe he said post was wrapping up which means it's pretty unlikely that it isn't this year
After all of these years and waiting for Shelby Oaks, it’s finally coming, You’ve inspired me in lots of ways Chris and your dedication to your channel and this film makes me smile from ear to ear. Without you randomly showing up in my RU-vid feed all those years ago, I don’t think my love of film and movies would be the same. Im so happy you got to make your dream horror movie and I cant wait to see it! It’s truly an honor to have watched you share your passion with others over the years and I hope that one day I can be as awesome and inspiring as you are!
As for MY most anticipated movies here they are: - Kinds of Kindness (especially after seeing Poor Things, that movie was fantastic!) - Civil War (looks interesting and gripping, i hope it takes risks and challenges us) - Nosferatu (instant watch for Eggers alone) - MICKEY 17!!!! (my most anticipated because BONG JOON HO, Pattinson is a huge plus, been waiting since Parasite!)
Cant thank you enough Chris Stuckmann for the value you add in the RU-vid Film Community! I've been a long time subscriber & I don't always comment, but I wanted to let you know you've introduced me to new films, and new perspectives on films over so many years. Ah, its just so great your finally making your directorial debut! I will definitely be catching it in the theatre! This is only the beginning! - Hilary Z from Long Beach, CA
I used to like him, that's why I subscribed for years. He has always had a level of disdain for his fans, evidenced by the fact that he never reads comments or engages with his community. I've watched him get more and more smug, and I just can't stand him anymore. Just F'ing give the movies a number score. I don't expect anyone to care, but I'm unsubscribing. I hope his movie sucks, and is a failure, and knocks him down a peg.
Excited for many of those too! Also: as someone who never watches trailers and likes to see movies through the widest possible lens, I very much appreciate your genuine understanding of that. It truly makes your channel stand out. Thank you!
Planet of the Apes looks promising. Didn't see the others in theaters because I thought they would be dumb. Then I finally saw them and now I'm stoked.
@@darkknight2864agreed. I'm mostly watching this new apes movie to give me a little hope for Zelda. because the writer they have for it i absolutely am worried.
Chris!!! Loved this video man!! Out of all of the 2024 movies you have mentioned, my number 1 anticipated movie of this year is Francis Ford Coppola’s MEGALOPOLIS!!! 🎬 I had the honor and privilege to have worked as a background actor for Megalopolis as it was one of the best filming experiences I’ve ever had. Working with Coppola was not only exciting but was also amazing as his directorial knowledge really impressed me while being on set! It’s an experience I cannot wait to share when the film is released!! Thank you so much for sharing this list Chris and wishing the best for Shelby Oaks later this year too! 🎥
Just goes to show how great and humble Chris is, for saving his own movie for last, knowing full well most people won’t get to that part of the video ❤ Shelby Oaks is definitely one of my most anticipated movies of 2024 and I will arrange a movie night with my friends the second I hear a release date 🤩
I feel like you had a lot more fun with this video than normal. I can see your personality and and goofiness and it made for an even MORE enjoyable watch. Love seeing you have a good time! The Twister commentary made it for me.
Shawn Levy as director. A cameo fest. A writers strike effected the script. It sounds like a disaster - films won’t be getting better if people are clapping like seals when they see someone recognisable
We WILL be there for SHELBY OAKS no matter what. I am from Latinoamerica and I just hope I get the chance to see it in any festival. We wish you all the best for this year, Chris!
@@DefenestrateYourself i know but it still ended up being pretty much the worst year in film history. yeah that has nothing to do with the quality of the films, but objectively it was pretty mixed
I don't know you Chris, but when you talk about your film coming out, I get a great feeling about you as an artist and a good guy. I wish you only the best on the film. Have a Happy New Year full of Joy! And success.
There's quite a few movies coming out this year that I'm hyped for (Kung Fu Panda, Ghostbusters, Furiosa, Alien, Beetlejuice and Gladiator especially), but my most anticipated has to be Inside Out 2. The first one is without question my favorite animated movie of all time. I am a little concerned about the new director and Pixar is in kind of a rut right now, but the first one was also a return to form for them after a few less than great films. I hope this sticks the landing just like it did before and I will make sure to bring tissues.
Omg!! Inside Out is one of my favorite Pixar movies of all time too!! I remember watching it for the first time not expecting much, but it turned out to be sooo good and with such a great message. I heard they were making a sequel, but didn’t know it was coming out this year!!! How exciting!!!
Dune Part Two is EASILY my most anticipated movie of the year, haven't been this excited for a movie since No Way Home. I truly believe it can have a Return of the King type run at next year's Oscar's based off what the first one did and the other movies releasing this year.
I like the premise and the cast, but it just looks like another spy movie. It'll probably be completely serviceable and then disappear from memory after a few years.
Man good stuff you’ve pointed out Chris! So happy things are going well with Shelby Oaks I can’t wait to see it! Do we know if Joseph Kosinski’s F1 movie is coming out this year?
I don't watch a lot of movies these days because I'm just way more invested in Video games, but I do want to go out of my way to watch Dune Part 2. I watched the 2021 movie randomly after seeing it on Netflix, and I think the vision, the world, and the style is very captivating.
@@nicholasd3990 agree. I use to obsess with game and I have a collection of it on disc but I’ll stop and switch to collecting films now. However when I have nothing to watch on the weekend I play game from times but usually they take so much time and I got other thing to d
As someone who lives in Queensland, Australia. I felt like I committed a cardinal sin against Australian filmmaking when I didn’t see Mad Max: Fury Road when it came out because I was too busy. Now I get another chance with Furiosa and I’m really excited that it was filmed in Broken Hill, Australia this time instead of South Africa. It also looks like it will have a stronger character driven story than Fury Road so I am very excited to see it.
Oh, nice. Didn't know it was filmed in Broken Hill! I think it's great that our smaller communities have these boosts to their economy with filmmakers coming in.
It’s just sad to see the amount of sequels and/or remakes being the main focus of this years movies. Will be looking throughout the indies for this one.
Fall Guy from this Febraury looks a really original fun and funny movie. Also Argylle looks so fucking brilliant and fun, looks like the first Kingsman movie, just an overall original fun action movie that isnt a sequel to anything
Excited to hear that you’re on Letterboxd since I was already following your unofficial account that posted when you made video reviews haha. It’ll be fun to see what you’re watching.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire for me! Godzilla & The MonsterVerse is having a upswing atm with Minus One & Monarch: Legacy of Monsters being fantastic. I had alot of fun with GvK & I'm excited to see if Adam Wingard will repeat with GxK
1. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga 2. Megalopolis 3. Transformers One 4. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare 5. Monkey Man 6. Love Lies Bleeding 7. Wolfs 8. Bad Boys 4 Life 9. Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F 10. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
The fact that I haven't seen ANYONE talking about Alto Knights is a goddamn shame. It's the movie coming out in 2024 that I'm most excited about for sure, even moreso than Furiosa and Dune Part Two (which I am definitely stoked for). Seriously... Robert De Niro in a dual role as warring 1950s New York mafia bosses Frank Costello and Vito Genovese (with De Niro himself saying it's one of the most fun and interesting roles he's ever done in his long, long, storied career)? Directed by Barry Levinson, known for such great films as Wag the Dog, Good Morning Vietnam, Rain Man, Bugsy, and Sleepers? This shit deserves SO much more exposure and hype. Also, ditto for Megalopolis, a sci-fi film that's supposed to come out this year. It's Francis Ford Coppola's first directorial effort in thirteen years and has an amazing cast lined up. And I ONLY know about it because I saw it mentioned on Coppola's Wikipedia page. Again... shame.
@@wisco9er536 I dunno, man... never underestimate the power of good makeup and acting. If anyone can pull off two distinct characters in the same film, it's De Niro. Dude's one of the greatest actors who's ever lived. Besides... go look up pictures of Frank Costello and Vito Genovese. There's enough of a resemblance between both them and De Niro that he could EAAASILY pull it off with a good makeup department. And think about it this way... would a movie be distracting if it featured, say... Tom Cruise in a dual role, and one of them was Lestat from Interview with the Vampire while the other was Les Grossman from Tropic Thunder? 😂
@@YorgosL1 The Postman starring Kevin Costner. He trades Shakespeare for supplies, General Bethlehem, the Holnists, Tom Petty is in it. Yes, I've seen it. It was a box office bomb and regardless how I feel, it did HORRIBLE by ratings standards.
Denis Villenueve's Dune: Part 2 is by far my most anticipated film of the year, followed by Robert Egger's Nosferatu and George Miller's Furiosa. Words cannot tell how excited I am for these three. Others I'm looking forward to include Argylle, Challengers, Drive-Away Dolls, Civil War, Beetlejuice 2, Gladiator 2, War of the Rohirrim, Fall Guy, Alien: Romulus, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, A Quiet Place: Day One, and Mickey 17. All of these I will be seeing for sure. There are a few that I'm not exactly anticipating due to some varied reasons, but I might check them out if they are good: Deadpool 3 (I've completely lost interest in comic book movies, and Logan was the perfect ending to Hugh Jackman's role as him, but if it's good I'll check it out.) Inside Out 2 (the fact that it's not directed by Pete Docter does worry me a bit, plus it looks like it'll contradict the lore of the previous movie, but hey, it's Pixar.) Kung Fu Panda 4 (I LOVE the first two and like the third, but the trailer for this one was kind of bad. Plus, no Furious Five to be seen does turn me off. Then again the trailers for the other three were bad too.) Godzilla X Kong (I've lost interest in the MonsterVerse, especially since Godzilla Minus One was SO DAMN GOOD, but it might be fun.) Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (I'm with you on that I liked Afterlife, but the trailer for this one kind of sucked.) Everything else? I'll wait and see.
Im excited for the Roadhouse Remake with Jake Gyllenhaal and Daniela Melchior, im very excited to see more Daniela she’s a lovely actor, Also very excited for Ballerina with Ana De Armas this year
Chris' Anticipated Movies: -Untitled Jordan Peele Project -Argylle -Lisa Frankenstein -Drive Away Dolls -Dune Part 2 -Love Lies Bleeding -Roadhouse Remake -Mickey 17 -Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire -Civil War -Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire -The Fall Guy -Furiosa -Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes -A Quiet Place: Day One -Horizon Chapter 1 & 2 -Deadpool 3 -Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F -Alien: Romulus -Twisters -Wolfs -Beetlejuice 2 -Joker: Folie á Deux -Gladiator 2 -Nosferatu -Trap -Long Legs -Juror Number Two -Maxine -Hitman -Havoc -Kinds of Kindness -Megalopolis -Shelby Oaks!!!
Welcome to the Letterboxd family, Chris. For years now I have followed an unofficial account that kept track of your reviews, so it's nice for you to be on there for real.
One of the things that frustrates me is that most good movies come out in November and December, so I basically have to wait most of the year to see them.
last spring had very entertaining flicks..super mario brothers movie, john wick 4, guardians of the galaxy 3, and mission impossible dead reckoning in summer
@@batman5224 so what kid lol they are all very entertaining and worth paying for.. and fun, and everything has been done in shallow hollywood.. who cares if its a sequel or not, a good movie is a good movie
@@jameswilliams-zr8co You can’t make anything good out of tired cliches and hubris. It’s because of mentalities like yours that Hollywood is the way it is.
I can’t wait to see IF for seeing something imaginative and Garfield for comedy and nostalgia. Great movie list, Chris. Looking forward for more of your reviews this year. Happy New Year and take care.
Deadpool 3's my most anticipated movie of this year. Seeing the Merc with a Mouth on the big screen again, Hugh Jackman coming back as Wolverine again, it being set in the MCU, and it still being R-rated gets me hyped.
I'm looking forward to that Godzilla Kong movie but I already know there's going to be idiots that's going to compare It with Godzilla minus one even though they're two different animals completely. One is meant to be a thought-provoking post-war Japan and all that the other one is popcorn entertainment.
Ehh, "pop corn entertainment" doesn't equal a good movie. Those are the types of movies that you go and watch and never come back to re-watch it again🤷
Unpopular opinion but idgaf. I cannot believe ppl are hyped for the new GvK. The last 2 moves have been trash. Shin and minus one have topped it w/o an issue. American zilla has become the Michael bay transformer series. Pretty colors and explosions.
Appreciate the video as it was to the point and the best recap I have come across of movies to look forward to. As you were going through Factor+ as the sooner I was literally putting a Factor+ meal in my work lunch bag. Definitely one of the better of the meal prep meals. Was literally nodding in approval with Twister. I am right there with ya with those movies you listed. Armageddon, Deep Impact, Twister, Volcano. I love all those movies and if Twister can tab back into the original nostalgia. I still think of Bill Paxton when Helen Hunt's character calls him a chicken and then he relents and aggressively tightens her seat belt and floors the accelerator and the engine whines. *chills*
Chris, I love your perspective on film as art rather than solely as a product. I like seeing filmmakers who take big swings, even if it means a few foul balls and even a few strikeouts. Keep up the good work.
My most anticipated movies (Some are more intrigued than excitement though): • Dune Part 2 (Duh!) • Furiosa (Loved Mad Max and the trailer was amazing) • Nosferatu (Robert Eggers, nuff said) • Deadpool 3 (Though I got some caution going in, I trust Ryan Reynolds based on my love for the first one and genuinely liking the 2nd one and excited to him and Hugh Jackman together as Deadpool and Wolverine. And hopefully it’s more like a No Way Home than The Flash in terms of films doing the multiverse where the cameos don’t serve as a distraction from the character’s arc. The only comic book movie I’m looking forward to this year) • Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (Trailer really impressed me and hopefully it’s as strong as the previous trilogy) • Spaceman (Adam Sandler in another drama from the director of Chernobyl, sign me up) • Love Lies Bleeding (Love Kristen Stewart, trailer looked great) • Mickey 17 (Got delayed but I hope it comes out this year as it’s Bong Joon Ho’s follow up to Parasite) • Ballerina (The John Wick spin off with Ana De Armas) • Drive Away Dolls (Looks cool and I’ve been impressed with Margaret Qualley lately) • Challengers (Since it got delayed from last year, but the trailer was great plus big fan of Zendaya) • A Quiet Place: Day One (Intrigued to see how this turns out) • The Fall Guy (It’s Ryan Gosling in another comedic role, give me it now) • The Lord of the Rings: The War of Rohirrim (I’m curious about this one) • Kung Fu Panda 4 (Despite the trailer, I’m hyped due to the fact that I loved the first 2 and enjoyed the 3rd one) • If (This could go either way, but I think John Krasinski has improved as a director with the Quiet Place movies and it looks at the very least charming) • Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F (Let’s hope this is good Eddie Murphy like Dolemite and not like You People or Coming to America 2) • Hitman (Heard great buzz about it from festivals) • Havoc (Gareth Evans, who made The Raid already got me hooked and hopefully it and The Bikeriders brings back the Tom Hardy I like after Venom kinda tainted that) • Maxxxine (I really enjoyed X and Pearl so I’m interested, even though some of the behind the scenes are 😬) • Alien: Romulus (I’m more curious than excited because I did not like Prometheus and I hated Alien Covenant, but I like the cast and I like most of Fede Alvarez’s work, so hopefully this is more like the franchise equivalent to Prey) • Civil War (Another one that could go either way, Alex Garland is right now hit or Miss for me, with Ex Machina and Annihilation being hits and Men being a major miss for me but we’ll see) • Inside Out 2 (I know Disney & Pixar hasn’t been firing on all cylinders lately but I’m curious since I loved the first Inside Out) • The Wolfman (Leigh Whannell’s follow up to Invisible Man)
The last movie was the one that got me really excited !!!! I do want to watch your movie !!! I’m in Australia and I’ll travel anywhere (in Australia lol) to watch that piece of art ! 😍
Thank you Chris, for your list. It's like hearing a kindred movie lover speak to me. I am so happy for you, and I am looking forward to watching Shelby Oaks. Let us know when it is streaming or in theaters, and I will watch it. I am so proud of you bro!
Great list and so stoked to see Shelby Oaks, dude! I'd love to see a video breaking down the process and first steps you took. If you are at all inclined, I'm sure others would like that as well. Take care!
