Bought a Tissot PRX Quartz about a month ago as sort of an “entry-level” watch to break into the world of watches after watching your video and I absolutely love it!
@@johnowens2270 I’d have to respectfully disagree. There are some great quartz pieces and you can genuinely love watches even with a quartz movement. Would I have preferred a mechanical movement? Probably, but that’ll come later when my budget is a little higher.
@@johnowens2270 nothing wrong with quartz. I've got about 50/50 quartz and mechanical. Some of them I purposely bought the quartz over mechanical because sometimes I can't be bothered to set watches but still like to where watches with nice for and finish etc.
@@TheDpb167 nice watch. Really like them. They're out of the question for me tho because my rules are I only own one watch per brand, and already have a Tissot. A little vintage gold moon phase.
@@TheDpb167 you've had the watch a month but I bet you've spent the whole time looking at other watches online, lusting after more and thinking about your next purchase. That's how it starts 😂. Thats how it was for me anyway.
The Maurice Lacroix Aikon is a beauty! Love the dial and the way light plays on the design features, and case, and the bracelet. Simply a smashing watch that has a lot of presence.
My integrated bracelet choice was the Direnzo Mondial and it is simply amazing! Easily one of the most comfortable watches I’ve ever worn. Great job Sergio!!
The Direnzo DRZ 04 Mondial is another fantastic option in this category. Swiss Made, 40mm, incredible bowl dial, Selitta SW-200 Elabore movement, TREMENDOUS lume, super thin and comfortable, and comes with both butterfly and dive-style clasps. I've got the white dial with the black metal indices and it is one of my favorite watches. $790.
I quite like the Aikon, I know it is very on the nose in terms of design compared to the AP, I just don't care, I know I will never have one and I believe that ML brings its own character. Most of the selection you showed is nice as well!
compared to AP its really not though. if you take a good look at both watches side by side, theyre quite different. the bracelet is very unique and the bezel is not closely resembling at all.
Formex is hard to beat with this list of specs. I like their bracelet and strap with their deployant clasp with adjustment on the fly system. Great plus for this timepiece. I would really consider the Essence. 👍
I'd like to chime in on the price of the PRX Quartz vs. the PM80. The Quartz version has a synthetic sapphire window, while the PM80 utilizes a sapphire crystal window with an anti-reflective coating.
These are the types of dilemma watch buyers face. You can’t necessarily check the options side by side. So I think these types of videos (and your presentation) makes it a lot easier for us buyers to make up our minds.
Great watch but I think the regular OCTO version isn’t integrated. You have to move to the finissimo which starts around $12k. I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure
So many great videos back to back, it's been an awesome week on your channel Teddy and thank you for sharing your honest thoughts. I am a bit hard pressed to accept Formex as the best finished but I haven't seen one in person. I will state however that the Maurice Lacroix Aikon might well be the best finished watch in its entire price range of the many watches I have seen in person, and I do not say that lightly. It is a true stunner and competitive with much more expensive pieces.
Yo Teddy, Ben here. I own the Formex Essence 39 and it is an absolute steal for the price. A superbly finished watch. The quick-release bracelet system is something more established watch brands should consider. One feature that I feel is not entirely necessary is the case suspension system, I trap way too many hairs in it!
I really like the watch but I hate the name. There's something about the name that really turns me off. Sounds like drain cleaner or condom brand or something. It sounds silly but little things like that put me off.
@@frankdux5693 Honestly, I had the same issue with the name when I first came across the brand but I can safely say all concerns about the name disappear when you receive the watch. It's a stunning piece.
Excellent video Teddy! I have the PRX quartz with the blue sunburst dial and love it. I'm a big fan of quality bracelets and would love to see you do a video focused on best bracelets in terms of fit, finish and comfort. Keep up the great work!
Great video Teddy… I was specifically looking for reviews on the PRX and have found several; each with slightly different opinions and perspectives. Nice touch giving comparisons to other brands and styles. I ordered the PRX 80 in white and rose gold from a local BC AD.
Having seen the PRX quartz I eagerly anticipated the release of the mechanical version then saw that dial. Good to see the video, lets you appreciate things from different angles.Looking elsewhere.
Another watch you can include here is the Titoni Impetus. The integrated bracelet is a quite vintage looking single-link style, and the dial features lovely textures.
What do you think of the Tudor royal? The Maurice lacroix is an absolute stunner but I also think the Tudor is worth checking out. What do you guys think?
Hi Teddy! I only just found your chanel and bought my first ever Automatic watch. I wanted to make it special so I got a Seiko Limited edition Studio Ghibli watch. I made the decision after listening to you talk well about Seiko even though you don't sell it. I was wondering if you could do a video about what kinds of questions you recommend first time buyers should ask the retailer to get a better understanding of their purchase. When I bought my watch online (due to the Australian lockdown restrictions), the manager at the Seiko boutique in Melbourne asked me if I knew about the movement, he asked me if I knew about the materials being used , and he asked me if I knew about what to expect with automatics, service and other little things that I never thought to ask about. I basically got my hand held to ensure that I was making an educated decision. So shout out to Seiko Melbourne. So what questions should first time buyers ask their retailer and how will these questions help the buyer? (For example, learning about the movement of my watch taught me about how accurate it will be over time. That was a huge eye opener and showed me why a $2000 watch costs that much over a $500 with similar "features.")
Speaking as an owner (PRX) - the lack micro adjustment is not as of a deal as I first thought. There are 2 half links and it is easy to find that fit. They are going for the butterfly clasp which is the right choice. I rather have this over a thick clasp.
I'm a big fan of Integrated bracelet watches. I bought an IWC Ingenieur Mission Earth. I like the FC shown here. I also like the new release of the Baume & Mercier Riviera which goes for $2700
You missed off the Baume & Mercier Riviera - another beautiful integrated steel sports watch with a fantastic dial, and the option for an in-house movement at fractionally more cost.
you left out the concord saratoga , or the Breitling Hercules some amazing integrated bracelet watches to check into , or movado valor or movado fiero nice choices too
Great video. Does the power reserve indicate the quality of the movements at all? It seems strange to me that the Tissot has an 80 hour reserve whilst the much more expensive watches have 38 hours.
I've got a blue Highlife COSC. It's gorgeous, and the QR bracelet with leather and rubber strap options in the box is worth noting. Gives a bit more flexibility when you're not in the mood for full metal. Worth also saying that whilst the finishing is superb, the polished centre links on the bracelet are smudge magnets and do scratch easily.
I’ve been considering Maurice Lacroix (39mm) as my first ‘integrated bracelet’ style watch. Love the design! I’ve reached out via your website about potential price match without anyone responding :/
Isn’t it gorgeous. Definitely goes on my maybe list. Got to try an octo finissimo the other day in a pop up Bvlgari store, probably the coolest watch I’ve ever seen
I really loved the PRX, but after trying one on in person it kinda let me down slightly, I was hoping it would be more beefy looking Royal Oak, rather than a more slim dress watch style. Bracelet was nice, as was the specs, but I wish it would've appealed to me more.
You confirming that PRX is the best 350$ watch at around that price and even up to 1000$ as I don’t know which other watch does look is stunning as these.
Could you do a video on the Tissot le Locle ? Maybe comparing it to the visodate ? I love your work and I'm really happy about your progress, result of an hard and honest work you are very inspiring.
I would have liked to see how the prx integrated bracelet works on your wrist Teddy. Sometimes a 40mm piece should be great for smaller wrists but an integrated bracelet doesn't work.?
Love the FC Highlife Another great option in the affordable price range is the Michel Herbelin CAP Camarat. For me the best looking affordable integrated sportswatch with vwry decent specifications.
Some good interesting watches Teddy, I ,must admit to having a soft spot for the PRX. The quartz is the sensible option clearly for value but having seen (and somehow resisted the temptation) for the PM80 waffle it would be s difficult choice. I'm planning to visit an AD here in the UK over the weekend so hopefully I'll have the chance to see both quartz and PM 80 versions side by side an on the wrist. Will I be able to resist? If the second hand alignment is good I could be tempted to go home with the quartz version.
Cool video with some solid choices here. I just disagree about the Aikon being an homage. Yes there is a waffle dial but the watch design is quite different :)
I already have 2 integrated bracelet watches in my collection. A 1970s era Omega, and a 2000s era Seiko Coutura. That said, I have my eye on the PRX, and have a feeling it will be my next new watch.
Not that affordable but the unsung hero of integrated bracelet sport watches was the North Flag. Just discontinued and such a cool watch. If only they made it in not yellow....
I have the Maurice Lacroix Aikon. Its not bad, but nothing to get excited about. The winder is crunchy, its hard to read the date and the power reserve seems quite short.
Given how often you highlight German brands, I'm surprised that you didn't mention two excellent pieces that fit the bill: the Archimedes Outdoor Protect (also available in antimagnetic and titanium versions) as well as the Wempe Ironwalker automatic (arguably, this might be a bit above the price threshold, but close to the ML but with chronometer certification)
Reading this while wearing my Archimede Outdoor AntiMag Titan (what a name...) on the wrist. Excellent watch, and Archimede is somewhat under the radar, very much like Sinn 15 years ago
I'm surprised you didn't include the Cadisen 8180 42mm automatic. Cadisen also has a 46mm version. They cost around $100 and are definitely in the integrated bracelet, sport style of timepiece. I own one and it never fails to put a smile on my face.
Question I know they arent luxury watches and can't compare but for a nice looking automatic watch wirh time and date function and 2 sub dials chrono for 465 how are d1 Milano watches they have some skeleton chronograoh or just plain time and date function automatic rhwy resemble a royal oak but most expensive one is 950 most are 465
