The biggest thing that helped me pick up playing boogie woogie and 12 bar blues was reminding myself to relax and stop trying so hard. Gotta relax, and remember how you feel when hearing the music because you should feel the same when playing it as well!

You're pulling me into boogie woogie piano and there's nothing I can (nor want to) do to fight it. You make it look so easy too. Each time I watch one of your public piano vids, I get pumped to play some myself but it never sounds as natural as when you play. I'm sure I'd improve a lot if only I could locate middle C.

Gotta say something nice about this one. The way the tritone between the minor 3rd and the 6th resolves into that top third is an essential harmonic lick for boogie woogie, and this whole riff can be pretty easily transposed to every key. I'm not sure a beginning piano player would have it easy here, but maybe he means a beginner in boogie woogie. Either way, it's a killer little riff. Many thanks, Brendan.
Nice lick . The Bb-E is a flattened fifth or tritone or even 'diabolis in musica' - but whatever - it's functioning as the flat7 - major third of the IV chord I think .
thank you for your lessons and just like to point and thank the evolved camera man into a "camera person" does she have a normal regular name. you may just write it down as they regularly do in the movies ( respect) after all she is the one who's recording your great work.
Watch someone play over and over. Ignore people's comments. Believe that GOD will do the rest. Get a keyboard because it's cheaper. Practise everyday. And remember to have fun😊
am if it mentioned to put some extras next to basic . its that actually mean press anything in the blues scale or improv stuf is still decent key notes
I don't have room either but decided to start learning anyway. I bought an 88 key ( I think the term is weighted key) electronic keyboard from Amazon for $200 and was practicing on my lap in front of the PC watching tutorials from Brendan, Terry Miles, and some others. I decided I wanted a shorter one also for the basic learning on my lap and I got a 61 full size key for about, I think it was $130 or so. The 61 key generally are for kids and have closer keys and not weighted, I did find one that does have full size and weighted(which means the harder you hit the key the louder it sounds, just like a real string piano) If you comment back to me I can dig up the links from Amazon for you.
you know what's really tricky for me? going up or down an octave because my hands are so small I literally have to maximally stretch them to span 1 octave... :(
