I remember spending quite a bit of time in Tuscany years ago, as my parents are wine connoisseurs. Such a beautiful place! I have very fond memories of visiting several wineries, the quaint shops and cafes, and yes, indulging in the delicious cuisine. And a trip to Italy would not be complete without a serving of gelato! You both seem to be exceptionally happy there. Thank you for another awesome video! Salute! Cheers!
Those sound like wonderful memories. We truly loved our time in Tuscany and look forward to going back one day and maybe renting a car and visiting more wineries and small cigars villages along the way. Thanks so much for watching - Cheers 🍷
I love Siena, and even though I'm afraid of heights like Brian, I climbed the cathedral arch back in 1998. To me, the whole town is one big beautiful site to see. And I love the cathedral. It was free last time I was there 😞
Siena is a beautiful place that we would have enjoyed spending more time in. It was a great day for us and well worth the cost. Thank you for all your support, Mike! Cheers!!🍻
The Cathedral is probably one of the best churches inside out. I didn’t recall that we paid any fee to get in back in 2019. We were in a bus tour, so it may be included. But it does cost money to maintain them. The ruin in old Rome used to be free in early 2000. It is now over 20 euros and you have to wait long lines.
We took a day tour from Florence to these towns in 2019. I think it was 90 euros, include lunch in Siena. For those who have limited time, it is a good choice. That includes pick up near our hotel.😊😊😊
Yes, we 100% felt it was worth the money spent. We got to see so much that day and got to rest in between stops on the bus as well. Wonderful day trip!! Thanks for watching 😊
All these places were on my Tuscany itinerary but I had no idea how long spent there so your video was very informative and helpful! you two are a beautiful and sweet couple❤ tks for the video.
So happy to hear that it was helpful. We truly loved our time in Tuscany and can't wait to return and spend more time exploring the small villages. Cheers!!
Great seeing more of Tuscany. It's always a really nice area to explore. I'm glad that you got nice weather. You got some great shots of the region. Keep having fun! Greetings from Los Angeles
Currently in the Chianti part of Tuscany for the next 6 nights. We were in Terme Di Saturnia. Can’t wait visit all the places on your vlog. Love your videos.
I’ve visited Toscana three times. As a previous commenter wrote, the small towns and & villages are ‘where it’s at’. The small communities in the Tuscan countryside are mostly clean and graffiti free and I think that the locals take much more pride in their small commune than the city dwellers do in places like Rome, Naples Florence etc.
We would agree. We stayed in Florence for a month. We had a great time but wouldn't recommend staying that long. The small towns are much more pleasant.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoy your videos. We have a trip planned to Italy next March and will be using the information in your Italy videos. Thanks for the great information!
We are so happy to hear you are enjoying or videos and finding them helpful. We really loved our time in Italy... You must be so excited for your trip. Cheers!!
Definitely rethinking our first year of travel, may have to move Italy up on the list. Our plan was to do Italy in year 2 of retirement, but it may move up to year 1. Thanks for everything you two do, greatly appreciated.
Another fabulous video! Really enjoyed visiting the sights with y’all. What a gorgeous area. 😍. I laughed so hard when Brian said ice cream/gelato cups were for old people!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂. Guilty, as charged. Looking forward to more videos from Italy. Safe travels.
Thank you! Some of us just like a Ice cream cup so we can eat slower and enjoy. Especially when it's 95 degrees and it melts faster 🤣. Thanks so much for watching - Cheers!!
Beautiful and great background music. Personally, I think tours and cruises, for that matter, get an unfair bad rap. One thing I noticed about day tours was it was a great way to get to sites without having to worry about parking. Of course, having to run through hurricane Tuscany didn't sound like fun. 😀
We are now starting to agree with you about the tours. We have been on two in the last 6 months, Maya Bay and Tuscany and both were amazing! We will be doing more moving forward. Thank you for watching, Doug! We appreciate all your support. Cheers!!🍻
@@BrianandCarrie Great video! I really appreciate you sharing. Which tour did you pick? I see at least 2 offering similar itineraries. One of the complaints of both is that the guides keep explaining everything in multiple languages one after the other. Did that happened on your tour? if so, did you find that distracting or no issue?
San Gimignano is my favorite place! Agree that the gelato is amazing. Even more amazing is the pizza place. Best pizza ever. Long lines. I also bought a purse from the leather guy near the front entrance gate and it is one of my favorite handmade bags! Love your videos. Brian is super funny

Thank you! We actually just released our last destination video in Italy for now, until we return in December. Then we will stop in Naples , Rome, Piza and Lucca. Cheers!!

15:10 i avoid climbing up the tower in bologna too. There are videos in the internet which show the whole climbing-thing inside 😂 Better to invest 10 Euro in a drink and watch the tower from outside in a restaurant beside 😁✌😎❤ great pictures from sienna and the horse - information... i hope i can see it once in my lifetime 🤩🥳😇🫶 Where you going next?
We have more coming from Italy before we start our Turkey series, where we just arrived. Not the best timing!! We were bummed that we missed the horse races but sure that the city was crazy busy so probably best we weren't there. Thank you for watching!! ❤
thank you for your answer:) Have a great time in turkey! I wish i would be there now:) so many acient stuff around... Thank you for filming your travels @@BrianandCarrie
Do you happen to recall the name of the tour company you used through Viator? I don't see the tour that includes Siena, San Gimignano, and Monteriggioni at the link you have posted.
Very interesting video. Which rental car company you used in Italy ? Was it manual or automatic ? Just US driving license good enough or need IDP ? Any tips on rental cars booking would be helpful. Cheers 😀
I was there in March 2010, so my information is probably outdated. However, at that time, we stayed in Siena and there were buses or trains from Siena to the smaller towns. It took planning because the buses only ran on certain days of the week.
There is a link in the description for the tours available. The one we went on included the towns we showed and was for 11-12 hours. Wonderful daytrip! Cheers 🍻
There are 17 districts in Siena, not 16 (Aquila, Bruco, Chiocciola, Civetta, Drago, Giraffa, Istrice, Leocorno, Lupa, Nicchio, Oca, Onda, Pantera, Selva, Tartuca, Torre and Valdimontone). Ten run the Palio, the seven that do not run will run the following year's, plus three drawn by lot from those of the previous year, to complete the lot of ten. Oca (the Goose) won on August 16th 2023.
hi Brian n Carrie.......so uncannily similar, we visited the same 4 places last year. Thanks a lot for reliving recent memories. Pray you both had a good time too. Take care and look forward to your vlogs.
Love your channel. My only wish is that you clearly mention which month you are at particular destination. Tuscany looks like a summer time. Am I right? It is August. Thank you.
Hi! We put a link to the different day trips out of Florence that are available. There were so many to choose from, ours went to the towns we showed and took about 11hrs. Thanks for watching!! Cheers 🍻
Loved this video. I do have a concern, though. I sure hope Carrie is putting sunblock on her shoulders. Being out and about in the summer with shoulders exposed to direct sunlight is risky. 🤞🏻-Elizabeth
Thank you Elizabeth! And yes, I'm cautious to put sunscreen on my shoulders, I actually had just purchased a new bottle in Florence. I even bought spf spray for my hair and scalp as that also worries me. Thanks for the reminder though too everyone how important that is.
