In this data visualization I look at the top countries with the most cell phone connections, one of the most important service in any country. Early cellular networks were developed in the 1950s and 1960s, but it wasn't until the 1980s and 1990s that cellular technology became widely available. Since then, the use of cell phones has exploded, with billions of people around the world now using them for communication and access to the internet. We'll start in 1990 because that's when prices of phones and service were becoming more accessible to the masses and when services were becoming widely available. I also look at the connections per 100,000 individuals in that country to get a more even comparison.
