Best vids to repair corvettes I've seen. I am a 7 Corvette owner, not all at once unfortunately , but you are a gold mine of info, and professional vet repairs...Thanks PS I'll always check with you before I attempt repairs, I do all my own work...Motors , Suspensions, Interior, Paint, Electrical, rear ends, Never a trans except for shift kits/ torque convertors and seals...Thanks for your time!!
I learned a lot from watching this. Thanks so much for making this video. Definitely going to like and subscribe! I have a 1978 Corvette that I want to restore and I'm sure I need the experienced pointers! 🙌🏻
Thanks for posting! These C3 windows were never designed to last 50 years. Couple of observations from my '69. The lack of up/down stop switches puts huge strain on the regulator - steel arms - and they distort. When they distort it causes the motor to bend into the arms and then "clunk," as the arms pass by the motor. Repro arms, or regulators, aren't quite as strong as the originals and I gave up after two of them and found an original and cleaned it up. Worked better. I dont let let the window "slam," down or up now. A fix would be to design a simple bracket that would fasten the motor body to the inner door panel, thus keeping it away from the regulator arms.
I can't find one single video on the 80 to 82 model c3 about the inner mechanisms, such as the power locks and why they get stuck to the point they won't move. And show how to fix it. The inner and outer door handles and lock are basically like the early models. But the inner push lock seems totally different.
Thanks Steve, great video. Do you have anything for Door or window adjustment. I have been trying to get the alignment correct on my window for a couple years, but have been unsuccessful. The primary problem is when I roll up the window the window tilts inside the car and not parallel to the track it should be on for the window jam. In have reshimmed the door and worked the window adjustment, but no luck.
Hey I like your video lm not a computer person. I bought a 75 vet 5 years ago. I found the mirror adjuster in mine. It's not supposed to be there. It is now. I also have the mystery switch in the kick panel. I believe it goes to the a/c.
That was helpful Steve thank you. I know my passenger side power window sounds clunky when operating up or down more so than my driver side. Could that be the parts wearing out on that unit?
Appreciated this video. I just purchased a 1964 that “grew up” in my backyard since I was 8 years old. The drivers window is starting to fail. Is this a project I can handle myself?
Does anyone have any knowledge of the electrical end of the power window switches, wiring, etc. in Consol, that would be lovely if someone would shed some light on that! Dr. V
My problem is the window will not go up far enough it’s 1 1/2 inch short, I think I misjudged the positioning of the fan gear. How can I get that correct ,
My round springs broke and fell off both of my regulators. The windows still work fine but I'd like to replace the springs. I'm having trouble finding any videos of installing them. It looks like the spring is under a load when the window is down so I assume I would install the spring while the window is rolled up? I would be trying to install the springs without taking the window regulators out of the door if at all possible. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Bair's Corvettes in PA makes the regulators and the springs. I thinkthey would be able to provide you with the parts and good instructions for the job. Call them at (814) 683-4223. Lyle
When both of my windows go down, the power window motor buldges out!?!? What would cause that to happen? 1975 CPE They go up and down smooth, no binding..I lubed everything also.. My thought is adjustment issue? Also, looking for driver side Astro Vent door glass, if anyone has it send info..thank you..
Do you have the steel access covers in place on the doors? They keep the motor from moving into your door panel. If not, we have used GM originals here for you. Lyle
