Lyle. Here’s the deal. I’ve followed your advice on contacting you with questions re: My C5 Commerative. You and C&S Corvette has never (my Emphasis) NEVER failed to help, part source etc. You’ve told us how to ask for it help and it works! Cheers!
Lyle, I've had three C4s and loved them all. I think one thing you failed to mention is the "viseral" impact of the car. It was low, long and very sexy, even by today's standards. The car is just pain beautiful and classic in design.
Hi Lyle, thank you for all the wonderful information that you put on your channel. I have two Corvettes, a 2019 Z06, and just purchased a 2011 Grand Sport with 5K original miles. Is there a supercharger that I can put on the 2011 that won't force me to change the original hood on the car? Again, thank you, I'll be looking for your response. Sincerely, RJF
I love my 87 vette. Sure its slower then a new Vette but no other Vette or any other car has a cooler dash then the early C4s. Also the magic early C4 dont have the option spark under the water pump. Sure I agree on the top but in the end its a car from the 80s
Ive not had the hub spin on the crank. Everyone i have done the pulley spins on the hub. Theyve come off in three parts, the outer drive pulley, the a/c pulley and the hub was still in place on the crank. Pinning wont solve that.
Do you have to take the shifter itself out to replace the harness and plug the new one in the car's harness. (On the opposite end of the micro switches?)
I can relate to this story. Unless my car is under warranty, I don't go near a dealer. I have an '88 C4 I don't know what to do with. It has 216,000 miles and severely fails the California smog test. I know my way around these older cars. So, I chased the emissions issue and replaced all the usual suspects (EGR valve, solenoids, vacuum lines, etc.). Anyway, that was years ago and the C4 just sits in my garage wasting space. I'm retired and won't spend $6000 on an engine. I should just scrap the C4 out but my wife is so attached to it. It was her car back in the day. We bought it when it was just one year old in 1989.
So is there no revision or company/performance shop whatsoever that has at least made some type of product or revision to that plastic elbow that cracks? Are we only left with GM replacements? Whats left when they run out? Kinda concerning for the C6
I purchased my 2014 with 22000 miles on it in July of 2023. I learned about this issue early in my ownership ( I'm the 2nd owner) and started using the paddles. It's the same stout A6 that was in my 2006 Corvette. I love using the paddles with the LT1. Not so much with the LS2. The NPP even pops quite a bit. So for me, this is a no brainer. Paddles rule. Thanks for the information.
I think if greedy dealers would just stop the gouging and it’s not a little gouging dealers still think it’s 2022. If half went out of business it wouldn’t hurt my feelings
Hey Lyle, do you have this screw I'm looking for? It goes right behind the piece of the dash that covers the edge. It's not a plus or a minus, but maybe a square or a star? It's about as long as my left fingernail after a manicure.
Awesome channel man! I found a very local 93, 40th anniversary 6 spd in the aqua blue metallic with only 55k miles. Guy has had it for 20 years but was stored for roughly 15. 2 years ago they drained the tank, changed all fluids, injectors, clutch, tires and battery. Runs a little rough at low rpm and backfires occasionally. Manual has a clunk but goes away when the clutch has engaged. Is it a bad trans or tb bearing? Could it be the timing as far as the bogging and backfiring?
A particularly good video at this time. I have owned 49 cars, with 5 of them being Vettes. My favorite was a '64 with an L88 in it. I worked at a Vette and hot rod shop for a time, and driven some very cool cars. Being pretty jaded, can I love another Vette? Never as much as the '64, but maybe enough to make it worthwhile. Thank you for your input.
I just ordered my rear b pillar weather strip for my C5 from Amazon…. Garbage…. Paid to have it installed and one side (driver) side seal is not correct too thin defective. Made in china made by(Holding) avoid…I spent 135 dollars…. Big mistake….. Now I am going to reorder it from Corvette Rubber $256 I believe…. But made in USA quality seals….. I learned a very expensive mistake…..This time I’m installing it my self…..
I have a question. I see many Corvette drivers talk about their cars and some describe them like “ I have a 07 base M6”. I have an 07 base but I’m curios what does the M6 mean… sorry for the dumb question.
@@cscorvetteify How long is your back up on work? I heard in a recent video that you’re pretty busy. What is the price on a torque tube overhaul and turnaround time. I’m in East Texas and would have to have it shipped.
My stock 2008 Z06 dropped a valve on the highway @4000 rpm and cracked the block. Lost $30,000 when I sold the car. GM/Chev did nothing for my loss. Saved 10 years to buy that corvette. What a piece of junk!
Enjoyed your story. I just happen to own a red Corvette ('88 C4). I read the same book. It was extremely interesting. I also own a black '03 C5. Whenever I'm hauling my grandkids, I fire up the '96 Impala SS. The thing I remember most about the book was Dave Hill's obsession with the weight of each individual part. I also remember that the engineers said that cost wise, reducing weight is just as effective as increasing horsepower.
Can confirm if you hit the button once, all is off. It says it on the screen and also lets you spin out/spin tires. No help whatsoever... ask me how i know 😂
Trying to replace the connector, ordered the (supposed) part number from Mouser (12084201), turns out it's smaller than the one in the fuse block, does anyone know the part number for the female connector in the lower fuse block
