Most Confusing Call Ever? Man Describes Bizarre Physical Experiences | Matt Dillahunty + Arden Hart

Caller Steven starts by mentioning his wife's cancer diagnosis and their visit to the Amazon for alternative treatment where she was allegedly cured. He then describes experiencing involuntary body contortions and positions during and outside of meditation that resemble advanced yoga poses and make his spine crack, which doctors can't explain.
He suggests this shows something "beyond the conscious mind" but struggles to clearly explain what he means by "beyond" and "advanced." The hosts ask many clarifying questions to try to understand the timeline, the details of the experience, and the purpose of the call. After 30 minutes of confusion and talking in circles with no clear point reached, the hosts express frustration at the unproductive conversation and end the call dissatisfied, still unsure what Steven was trying to communicate.

So... his wife was suffering from terminal cancer, couldn't even move, yet she got on a plane, flew to Brazil, and traveled out in the middle of the Amazon jungle to be treated by an 80-year-old shaman, a short two weeks later she magically had zero cancer in her body, and none of the doctors who examined her after wrote up anything in any medical journals? Why am I finding this story impossible to believe?

Also, usually when terminal cancer patients only have “a couple of weeks to live” they do not have the strength, nor the energy, to travel from Indiana to the Amazon rain forest , all the way to a shaman (wherever the shaman is). Usually with two weeks of life left, especially for bone cancer (a very painful cancer) they are bedridden and on constant morphine . This story is a lie . And I swear I recognize his voice as that of a caller from a prior show where he said he had a sexual relationship with God

Medical science is not absolute. They don't have all the answers. Chemotherapy and radiation is not amazing science. They are just destroying as many cells around the cancer. And hoping your body heals its self. Immunotherapy is a step in an amazing direction, where they break down the protective/immune system hiding wall. Then your body kills the cancer.

This is an example of someone (and her husband) so desperate for a cure, that they ignore the actual treatment and give credit to some unknown activity in the jungle. Facts he stated: - Wife had spinal cancer and underwent chemotherapy - She underwent surgery as well (and the cancer was removed) - She lived long enough to require follow-up surgery to the spine (plates needed to be added for stability) After that: - They went to the jungle and performed "advanced yoga" and spiritual "healings." - Now wife is cancer-free (I assume in remission) But the guy credits the jungle woman's actions for his wife's "cure" not the months and amount of modern medicine care. It's absolutely bizarre to listen to this and think he really believes it. This is exactly the same mindset believers have giving credit to God instead of doctors who have spent decades learning how to cure disease and the pharma companies developing drugs and products to treat/cure disease. It's very saddening to think people are so easily duped. Wonder how much $$$$ they spent on that jungle trip and how much did they give to that shaman?

You are completely delusional and brainwashed ..The A.M.A , Big Pharma aren't trying to CURE anything. It's all about the money..They aren't even a health industry. There isn't anything moral about their approach. That's why they cover up results of clinical trials in order to fast track a drug to market .They will.never cure cancer because all the oncology specialists, , the drug companies', the radiation technicians , chemo folks ,etc ,would have no work. My wife has Dystonia which is a neuromuscular disorder. Basically it’s Involuntary muscle movement of voluntary muscles which she cannot reproduce when she is not symptomatic. This is a normal non-normal movement expressed by her brain. Maybe Aussie dude should see a neurologist. Because this disorder is action induced. So when he does yoga movement it happens. PLEASE SEE A NEUROLOGIST!! It took my wife 3-4 years to be diagnosed. It’s a progressive disease in which there is no cure. Just treatments for symptoms.

After ingesting about a thousand of these over the next few months, my slimness was gone! This was decades ago, and I have had no reoccurrence of slimness since that time. I'm not taking any chances, though; whenever I see a rotund, dark-skinned person, I always ask if they know where I could get a proonmuffen in the neighborhood. I'm not one to actually look into details of facts and try to make conclusions Note how the 4th statement is out of sync with the first 3 statements. One would expect that a person that fits the description of the first 3 statements, would do the exact opposite of the 4th statement. Doctors of science typically are always looking for details and facts and draw conclusions from them. As a PhD, Steven is aware that the 4th statement creates a discrepancy. So why then would he be saying this? I can only guess, but in view of his whole story, i conclude that a traumatic experience has shifted his belief system, which caused it to conflict with his high cognitive abilities. Steven knows that what he experiences is the direct opposite of what he knows to be true. For some reason he is not ready to let go of the illusions that protect him from the dire truth: the aftermath of his traumatic experience. Now lets put Stevens story on a timeline to get a sequential overview of what happened. These are literal quotes from Stevens story, but put in a chronological order: 1. My wife: her father was diagnosed with terminal spine cancer. 2. She had spine cancer four years ago. 3. About three years ago, I went through a very traumatic situation with my wife . 4. She was on her last couple of weeks of living where she couldn't move. 5. We had no option left in Western medicine. 6. Someone told me that there could be alternative medicines. 7. So I convinced her to get on a plane and go. 8. We went to the Amazon jungle for seeking a medical cure for her terminal cancer. 9. In that process I was shown a number of things through her treatment. 10. Ever since that point in time I've been undergoing a lot of physical experiences myself. 11. After two weeks we came back. 12. She had all the test: she didn't have cancer in her spine. 13. Since she's undergone four spinal surgeries and she's doing fine. What follows is my analysis. I repeat that it is speculative but highly possible. 1. Stevens father-in-law was diagnosed with terminal spine cancer. One might ask what this has to do with his story, but apparently it seemed important enough for Steven to mention it. This indicated that this situation left a deep impression on Steven. He had first hand witnessed the suffering of a loved one by this particular disease, and he might have had difficulties finding a way to cope with the emotional burden that comes with this kind of stress situations. 2. Four years ago, Stevens wife also gets spine cancer. Since his father-in-law had the same disease, he kinda knows what is to be expected. But the disease is hitting a lot closer to home this time and therefore, the emotional burden hits twice as hard. Knowing what is about to happen and being powerless to deflect the oncoming catastrophe, must have been an excruciating process for Steven. It is possible that this is the point where Stevens emotional response gradually switched to panic mode. 3. 00:24 "I have a situation where about three years ago I went through a very traumatic situation with my wife." Listen to the tone of his voice when he says that sentence. It starts with a happy, high pitch and gradually descends to a lower pitch. when he reaches the last word, "wife", the tone is sad. The vocal expression of the sentence contains what is called an "emotional ambiguity". It reveals that Steven is concealing an emotion of sorrow by masking it with a lighter, more happy sounding tone. Also note the choice of words: "I have a situation", indicating that there is something that he cannot define. He is struggling to make sense of something that conflicts with his cognition. 4. Stevens wife was on her last couple of weeks living. Assuming that this diagnosis was provided by an oncologist, it is safe to say that at this point it has been decided to stop all curative treatments and transition to palliative treatment. I'm sorry having to say this so bluntly, but this means that the outcome of the affliction is now established: the patient will not survive. Medical experts will not draw this conclusion lightly: they will try and do anything within their power to save the patient. But when everything has failed they will also be honest and call it for what it is with a 100% certainty. At the time of Steven telling us this story, his wife is no longer with us.

5. Steven tells that they had exhausted all possibilities within modern Western science. This indicates the long and excruciating path that they must have experienced. Undergoing treatment after treatment is no joke. It will influence and weaken you both physically and mentally. 6. Someone tells Steven about alternative medicines and Steven finds a shaman in the Amazon jungle. This goes to show how Stevens mental capacities start to deteriorate. He is willing to put his rationale aside in favor of irrational ideas that bring him more solace. 7. 05:05 "So I convinced her to get on a plane and go." This is the central idea that all of Stevens delusions are built around. It was the first piece of the puzzle that Steven created to cope with a reality that he just could not accept. Despite the fact that it is a delusion, I have to say that it is a beautiful one. It radiates with comfort and romanticism. "You are leaving on a plane that will fly you to a cure". What more elegant way is there to say that in death there is peace, and that you understand that this person needs to go there now. The fact that he says that he convinced her, indicates that they have talked about this solution and they have agreed that this solution is probably the best one. At the same time it indicates that he might feel a form of guilt, because by talking about it to her, he might have had a hand in this final solution. However misplaced or unnecessary this feeling of guilt is, it might have added to the emotional stress that was already there in this difficult circumstance. it is as clear as crystal to me that Steven and his wife had reached an understanding of what was going on and where they were headed. And I can understand all too well the comfort that this allegory could bring to Steven. But somehow he ended up losing himself in the allegory. Refusing to come to terms with the loss of his wife, he found it increasingly difficult to peacefully internalize his grief over time. The struggle to cope with the situation became more pronounced for him, because all at the same time his logical, rational abilities were telling him the thing that he didn't want to hear. 8. to 13. Sorry, but this is a mental construct, a fantasy. Perhaps there are some elements of truth in there, like there might have been some surgeries along the way, but here these elements are depicted in a distorted manner so that they would fit the narrative. Steven tries to make sense of the pieces of puzzle, but because he does not accept the solution to the puzzle, he distorts it in a way that is more acceptable to him. However, somewhere in the back of his mind he is aware of the distortion and the cognitive part of his brain is tells him to fix it. This results in him being thrown back and forth between 2 emotional states continuously. Calling into "The Line" So Steven calls into a live show and presents his case to Matt and Arden. He talks about "Kriya" and "Kundalini". I advise the reader to google these terms. You will learn that these terms are derived from yoga and spiritual practices. They are highly suggestive practices, able to influence the mental state of the practitioner. To people with an unstable emotional foundation, these practices can be highly deteriorative to their mental state. So this should tell you that in the aftermath of the loss of his wife, Steven kept searching for ways to cope with his loss. The sad truth is that with every "piece of the puzzle" that he claims to find, the picture gets more and more distorted, and his rationale is shouting louder and louder in the back of his mind. In the end the picture is so distorted that he needs help. He needs someone to rationalize his distorted puzzle pieces for him, because he himself is out of ideas. So who better to call than the most rational person that he knows... Surely Matt will have a reasonable explanation: one that will make the pieces fit. I would like to thank Matt and Arden for not feeding in to the delusions that Steven brought with him. Steven created a confusing moment on your show, but your experience enabled you not to be taken off guard. You addressed Steven by calling out his delusions and by firmly pointing out the inconsistencies. While this might not have helped him in a specific way, it still is the best thing to do.

After listening back to this for a second time, I was wondering myself whether he was actually in denial about his wife's passing, and these impossible yoga poses were some sort of distraction/coping mechanism to take the attention away from his loss.

In my younger days I experimented with different drugs and had what could be only described as woo experiences. As soon the effects of the drug wore off no one claimed anything mystical happened we just talked about the effects as the result of the brain being altered by the chemical. The fact he stated she had conventional treatments prior to this makes all this an exercise in annoying Matt.

This was painful to hear. I have complex partial seizures, due to focal epilepsy. My seizures typically take the form of Jacksonian seizures. The head turning around as far back as possible, one hand on the floor and the spine twisting, hearing cracking, is exactly what my seizures look, and feel like (yes, I stay conscious during my seizures, albeit with some altered awareness). We *KNOW* deep meditative states can trigger seizures, and this man clearly describes having a partial seizure. He *NEEDS* to see a neurologist ASAP. Focal epilepsy sucks, but generally speaking it sucks less than other types. Still, it he's not diagnosed, he might be driving around, unaware that he is effectively a ticking time bomb. I'm not a doctor, but I've experienced seizures very much like what he describes, and if I were talking to him, I'd urge him to see a neurologist

This is why im stepping closer to antitheism every day. So many people are hurt, or even killed, through the horrible neglect that is faith healing. So many died completely preventable excruciating deaths because instead of a doctor, they chose oil. So many infants dead due to the same. So many people with illnesses that because they were neglected will haunt them the rest of their lives. So many people with mental illness getting exorcized instead of the help they need. And so many of these victims had no choice, due to age, money, or other issues. I dont care if they have "good intentions", the harm they do is unforgivable. And so much of this is seen as perfectly fine by too many people. Hell, one person is too many. Although I am glad that the callers wife coincidentally had their cancer go into remission at a similar time as doing that retreat. But if this works, why isn't this used in hospitals? Why aren't there papers on it?

I am a Kriyaban.........someone who is studying and practicing Kriya Yoga. This is taught by great masters of a disciplinic lineage from thousands of years ago. Kriya is a meditation technique and does not make you get convulsions or take control of your body. It is not associated with shamanism and is taught and practiced in about every country. I don't see the need to go to the Amazon to practice Kriya. I do it in a quiet place in my home. When someone is desperately seeking a cure for a terminal illness, they are generally willing to try anything to recover. I am glad that the man's wife has reportedly recovered but am concerned about him apparently allowing some "foreign force" take control of his body. I wish him and his wife well.
