The end of that Upgrade fight scene made so much sense. The chip in his brain could calculate every move without any wasted moves or miscalculations. But it couldn't account for the MC emotionally manipulating his opponent.
Daredevil vs Bullseye was so entertaining and greatly choreographed. You can see each one of them has a very specific skillset and they both work to put themselves in an advantageous position to use their skills. But then you laugh because you realize a blind ninja is fighting a dude that's just really good at throwing shit and it's hilarious.
Honestly, the fight scene in "Upgrade" I think is one of the most well done "Robotic/Calculated" fights ever done in a movie. It really does look like every movement is perfectly calculated with no wasted or miscalculated movements. That scene truly is a masterpiece of a fight scene.
@@billywashere6965 Well it terms of complex fight choreography this fight was much more complex as both actors had to be incredibly precise with all their actions. Both are excellent though.
I always thought the Daredevil fight scene was done super well and stands up to repeat watches. Bullseye never even really lands a hit on the first fight and is thoroughly outclassed in hand to hand. Daredevil is definitely slower in the second hand to hand fight after getting hit so much, but is still winning until the very end. I wish more shows/movie fights leaned i to individual character strengths/powers and weaknesses in their fights as opposed to just haymakers and throws.
The part that I loved is how they lean Matt into that boxing stance and style. Daredevil is known to know many different styles of fight, but he falls to his boxing stance mixed with other styles
@@emmanuelporte4201 He had his spine really damaged which was the reason he couldn't use most of his acrobat skills, like he still does some jumps the more the season progresses, but I think they took that decision just so Matt had to do all these fights with pure boxing, just his upper body and his punches, like his father did.
Yeah it really captures the essence of their duality. Daredevil takes a ton of hits out of pure shock - he can't anticipate half of bullseye's tricks. He also can't stealth nearly as easily - he might be able to stick to the shadows normally, but against Bullseye's focus every wiggle, every moving cubicle, every refraction of light he can see. Bullseye never really loses sight of Daredevil which is impressive given that's usually one of his major advantages. Even in a dimly lit room Bullseye is going to notice everything due to his just zen-like focus. Meanwhile up close Bullseye is desperate to find a weapon - he wins the day because Daredevil just can't adapt. He really can't internalize how focused this man is either - Daredevil's always had issues within his own life he was wrestling with. Bullseye, when he's working, is so focused it gave him a huge tactical advantage that turned into a strategic one. Even in the beginning when Daredevil catches the rod, the scene hangs here because truly - Daredevil cannot get a sense of this man. He's sure-footed, he's got no fighting style that Daredevil can relate to and worse - he's fully armored. That wouldn't give Daredevil an advantage because it would limit his speed, but since Bullseye isn't a ninja underneath, it makes it so much harder for Daredevil work off. Worse, Bullseye has a better center of gravity due to the extra weight, so now when he throws he has a bit more stability and lift. ... and Bullseye doesn't give an inch, he doesn't even flaunt his name. He's 100% Daredevil right now, and a nearly perfect reflection of Matt's cockier side. That arrogance more than anything is messing with Daredevil, as it's a reflection of who he can be. Just great stuff, they made this scene just sing.
The Upgrade fight sequence is by far the best in this compilation. Very well choreographed, the camera work is well helmed and to top it all off...it was made with just 3 million. One of the most underrated films ever!
Fun fact: They actually had a phone strapped to his chest with an app that accessed the gimbal info from the phone, and a sister app controlling the camera, so as he rotated the camera would rotate with him automatically (and perfectly)
Ehhh equalizer was the best imo the most "realistic". Anybody who's fought knows nice choreographed moves are beyond rare. It's almost always a scuffle, especially if weapons are involved
Ehh I’m not a fan of the concept of the movie tho the movie looks good 6/10 still not the worst action movie to be made but definitely not in the list for one of the best
The ending of Upgrade's fight scene was just poetic. It started with the antagonist lecturing the MC on why he shouldn't be emotional and he ends up being killed because he failed to heed his own advice.
Marvel nailed the Bullseye character especially for this fight scene. Excellent fighting skills but not as good as Daredevil's. However, never give him any distance and least of all the opportunity to grab even a paperclip or rubber band let alone a gun.
@@chrisbartoy23 Comic Hawkeye was just good with a bow and arrow and had access to tech and sometimes Pym Particles. It wasn't until that alternate take with the thumb nail that Hawkeye became a good version of Bullseye.
Upgrade was a great movie from start to finish. The "mechanical" movements sold me that he wasn't in control of himself and added a complete sense of humor to the Rated R hack-and-slash.
It was a little weak on pace of film. But I liked it alot. Could see blockbuster type effects if they solidify next storyline. Just like terminator and T2.
Logan Marshall Green is a phenomenal actor too if you all get the chance check out his TV series called Quarry. It was on Cinemax for one year but unfortunately got canceled it was probably one of the best TV shows ever made. The final episode has a 9 minutes single camera take of a combat situation in Vietnam and it was definitely unique
Now You See Me is a lot more of a fantasy fight and everything, but I do really like some of the realism in making him fight like a slight of hand magician would, where there isn't quite as much damage as there are just tons of misdirects and a general overstimulation of the opponent.
Thank you for saying this lol cause I was so confused as to who the hell the real daredevil was. I knew that he didn’t kill people just like that (innocent people I mean)
The Daredevil scene where he fights all the way down to the first floor from the roof with his arms taped to chains is one of the most outstanding scenes ever
This guy Denzel is so fu*kin talented and dedicated, I literally don’t have any words to describe this person’s ability to transform in any person’s character, he played Malcolm X twice can you believe it? Twice?
I love the Daredevil fight because it shows the strengths of both fighters. Matt is an expert martial artists whilst Pointdexter is good from afar. Not a lot of fights show those differences.
The "Upgrade" fight scene was freaking EPIC! That whole movie was amazing! I was stunned how small the budget was, but how glorious the camera work and fight scenes were! I even enjoyed the story way more than I had expected. Well done to the folks that made that masterpiece!
Bruh that scene from upgrade was one of a kind so many films have tried to pull of the whole “Precise robotic like movement no motion is wasted and everything is precise” And upgrade is one of the ONLY films that’s been able to pull that off Then Daredevil that scene was SO Good!!!!!!! The moment he caught the Baton to the end you truly saw how for the first time possibly that Matt met his equal Someone who is just as if not better then him and the whole scene was just a brutal brawl GOD SSSSOOOO GOOD!!!
Fucking amazing movie. Wish it was more well known. Should have been huge. Nothing better than throwing on a movie with no expectations and getting blown away
Not really imo. Swinging only the arms does not make it “precise” or “not wasting movement”. Martial arts are grounded and a proper technique for most strikes require some degree of body movement and rotation. For an example, boxing - most of the force generated in a punch comes from the lower body. The rotation of the heel, hip, torso, shoulders and the hand all contributes to a perfect cross. There are martial arts with minimal movements, but still has more than the robotic fight in Upgrade. Wasted motion is a real thing, an exaggerated build up and follow through of a strike is a good example of it.
I wouldn’t say bullseye was his equal.Daredevils hand to hand combat is untouchable by most people in the MCU the only reason he did have the upper hand on matt in that season was he was weakened from that building dropping on him,he didn’t know what bullseyes actual ability was and what he was good at till he did fight him in the office and got beat and one of the main factors that kinda pissed me off this season but was very well done and used in the story for season 3 was bullseye using daredevils suit which also has a lot of armour on it to so a lot of hits Matt was giving him we’re not affecting bullseye much but if he hadn’t gotten that suit that story would have played out differently Oh yh and btw I agree 100% with you on upgrade tthat movie was really good and underrated as fuck.I don’t know how but they did the robot movements so well in that movie it was like watching a dream come true.
There is no bad Daredevil fight scene, that’s for sure, but my favorite is Season 2,when Matt takes on the bikergang and rescues Frank. That moment when Matt shots the unloaded gun and smiles with a F***ing chain in his other hand,it’s magnificient🔥
It’s not only about choreography, but the cinematography, the editing, the sound… they all add to the feel of the fight scenes, allowing their uniqueness and creativity to shine!
I think all movies are creative with their fight scenes but for me, I think Upgrade takes the cake. The subtle but impactful hits of both characters and the way the cinematography is played out each attack is just mesmerizing to watch. And don't forget the fact that both characters are moving in a robotic motion which is very creative and ingenious among these movies included and others alike. Nonetheless, it's really a great thing that movies have real hand-to-hand stuntmen to make the fights as believable as possible, or at the very least make it realistic enough to standout than movies with "meh" fighting scenes.
I honestly think the first fight scene in Upgrade, the one that end with a knife, was even more glorious. It not only conveyed everything we needed to know, it also featured absolutely stunning acting in the process
The Bullseye/DD fight was great, but the best scene in the series was the fight scene with DD on the stairs/hallways. That may be the the best fight scene I've ever seen.
I never realzied before this rewatch that the IRobot robot was specifically fighting badly because it wanted to harm and damage him specifically in ways that replicate the vehicle crash. I always wondered why it didn't just punch his skull in
These are consistently great comps. No BS, just gets right to the action. I’m seriously surprised you don’t have more subscribers. Keep on killin’ it bro!
I love how in The Equalizer movies they gave McCall an almost Sherlock Holmes ability to instantly read and assess any situation and formulate a plan. He knew instantly the guy in the first movie was a hitman because he was disguised as a lineman, but his hands were callus free. Three absolutely kick ass movies in that series, even if they did vary quite a bit from the original TV series.
The most creative action movie I’ve ever seen is baby driver. The way they made the music perfectly align with the action is still one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen. But these scenes are great.
That one almost made it in but I switched with his fight with the daughter because it's a little faster paced. The martial arts guy fight is too funny tho!
Man, I've always appreciated the long takes for the Daredevil fight scenes. They must have really enjoyed that choreography! Also, how in the hell did Bullseye throw a damn computer monitor so accurately?? Either he practiced throwing screens or he's so good that he could adjust for the shape and all the other factors in the moment
You peep the reverse emotional trump card played in upgrade mans basically gets called emotional but then brings out the emotion out of him straight up amazing
LMG (Logan Marshall Green) in uprgade is so underrated and unappreciated... To convince someone that hands and feet are controlled by something else and act accordingly HAS gotta be the hardest part in any acting role I've ever seen and fight sequences in it are flawless 10/10
I love how STEM (Upgrade fight scene) asks nanobots to help Grey headbutt right when STEM calculates that the other will be using breath attack, since STEM cannot control Grey from neck up. And, at the end after exhausting all tactical options, STEM asks Grey for help. Wow. Such detail and justice to the characters.
Ewan McGregor he gets the credit of being a Tom Hardy doppelganger. Studio can we get Tom Hardy to do this movie. Agent no he is busy but we do have Logan Marshall Green.
Loved that scene in Equalizer 2. Immediately detected the fuckery at play. Took him for a ride to keep him off balance. Let him have those elbows to soften his ass up. Then the double tap at the end. Beautiful.
Bro you gotta do a part two for this and put the team fight scene from The Old Guard, honestly one of the best choreographed fights I’ve ever seen. Although there are guns
Even though the fight in Now You See Me is fun, in the context of the movie Dave Franco’s character goes from just some random lock picking, pick pocket dude to this magic savant doing pitch perfect vocal impressions and taking out FBI dudes with playing cards and flash paper.
I’m surprised Grey(?) didn’t make that guy eat his own words before killing him. If I were him, I’d say “You just got emotional. You shouldn’t do that.”
The Night Comes From Us was absolutely NEXT LEVEL. That was hard to watch at times. But It's still awesome. Winter Soldier is still the BEST Marvel movie to date, alongside Civil War. They're the two best connected films in the whole smorgasbord of super hero flicks that Marvel has produced.
Raids actions scenes were so good. They were next level and a lot of the movies nowadays have so much influence in them from the raid movies and the John wick movies. But personally for me the night comes for us I felt had some good action scenes but at times it was way too over the top and going to extreme for shock value.
