Really enjoying this channel. It's legitimately educational and the information is creditable. Legit for real!

I drowned when I was 4 years old in the pool at the Disneyland hotel in the 60s. My sister and I were running around and jumping into the shallow end, while my dad was supposedly watching us, but was actually reading a paper and forgot to check on us, so I ran excitedly halfway around the pool and inadvertently leaped into the deep end. I couldn't surface, so started yelling underwater. My sister, who also could not swim, jumped in after me, but couldn't get me up. I just remember seeing the top of water above me before I blacked out. I woke up barfing water on the side of the pool, surrounded by everyone there. My dad finally came to and realized it was HIS kids who were drowning, and had a lot of explaining (read: lying) to mom, who was incredibly angry about not even being able to take a fifteen minute shower without both her kids dying....as usual, my dads French/Irish charm managed to convince her that it wasn't his fault and had happened while his eagle eye was on us every second. As a result, we couldn't even take a bath, much less get into the pool, for the rest of the trip, which we thought was insanely unfair. My sister, who was extremely logical at an early age, insisted that just because no one bothered to teach us to swim, or even watch us while we were in the pool, was not something we should be punished for...

Im so sorry that happened to you sweetie, but you didn't actually drown if you're still alive. You almost drowned, and Im so glad you made it out alive. Im a paramedic , and have saved many people who have almost lost their lives in the water. Its a horrible thing to have to go through, and its not your fault, your dad should of been watching you . Hugs ❤❤

Have you learned how to swim since that day? If so what were your struggles? Also "drowning" implies that you died. So you didn't drown lol. With me we had a public pool across the street from our house growing up. So I was swimming at about age 6 in the deep end of the pool without any issues. All of my bros & sisters were from early ages.

At 0:16 seconds into this video they say "236 drownings each year " I would think it plausible if it were each day

One more thing to know about New Smyrna Beach in Florida is it is a nude beach.
@christineparis5607
@christineparis5607 2 года назад
Nude beaches are not exciting. I couldn't wait to visit one in California, but was very disappointed to mostly see a LOT of overweight people who did not look sexy or interesting in any way. I thought it would be very European and sophisticated, but watching naked people eating hamburgers, drinking cokes and sleeping on the beach just didn't do anything exciting. There is usually a couple of young, very attractive people showing off, which was a relief occasionally, reminding everyone that nudity could be attractive, after all. We always wanted to clap, but respected the "privacy" of others, though now I know that the in shape crew LOVED compliments and cheered them up incredibly. Later on, I became an artist model and was naked most of the time, enjoying being part of the romance of the art world, and I too, loved compliments and kindness from the artists. I also learned from them that being beautiful is a complete projection and attitude, not showing skin. What I learned was invaluable beyond belief! An average looking person, I can project the image of beauty whenever I want, which comes in handy on occasion, especially when I was single...now of course, I only ensnare my husband, but that's great too...

Same with railroad tracks. I know 2 people who were hit by trains & somehow lived... One guy was on foot & it ripped his pants & under-roos right off his mangled body. The other he laid down on the tracks trying to end it all & somehow it didn't remove his head as he planned.

Devil's DEN (@7:27) down around Gainesville Florida is an AMAZING Dive for beginning-intermediate divers! Its a giant bowl-type cavern that only goes maybe 60' and is just a giant circle. It is NOT a dangerous place! Now, Vortex Springs however, THAT place will make your wife a widow! The owners of the area have not only gated off the dangerous cave system, but it comes complete with a huge underwater billboard with The Grim Reaper posted on it to further discourage tbose who would slip under the locked gate and go further than they allow. Beautiful, gin-clear 70° water, but a HELLUVA dangerous cave!

I remember when I was in school me and a friend were swimming in the sea in Devon, England and he got stung by a jellyfish ( which we didn't see until it was to late ) so I quickly took him out of the water and took him to the lifeguard's hut on the beach and I told the lifeguard on duty that day that there was a jellyfish in the area that me and my friend were swimming and the lifeguard said that he'd investigate and keep people away and it even amazed the lifeguard as he didn't know until I told him and he saw the sting on my friend's leg

I can’t believe you mentioned Australia 4x!! I reckon you have a grudge against Australia. It’s no wonder Australia gets a bad rap when content creators don’t bother to carry out research. If you had carried out your due diligence, you would know Bondi Beach does not have a high number of fatalities and you would know we had the first fatal shark attack at Bondi Beach in 60 years.

Water is only dangerous if you get caught underneath it and cannot get out from under it.
@ShatteredCiv
@ShatteredCiv 2 года назад
Untrue. You can drown in 3 inches of water. It also can kill you if you drink too much of it. Finally it's a great conductor and if electricity hits even a puddle of it and you're standing in it, you'll be dead. Water is incredibly dangerous if you're unaware of its inherent dangers.
