Dishonorable mention: The Miz as WWE Champion. He had title defenses against Jerry "The King" Lawler, who is a wrestling legend but was a color commentator at the time. Not to mention in his WrestleMania match with John Cena, not only was he the third wheel in the feud between Cena and The Rock, he suffered a concussion during the match and to this day doesn't remember what happened in that match.

Kofi Kingston's Title Reign in 2019 was also disappointing. He lost at the end of his WWE Title reign to Brock Lesnar in just seconds on the first SmackDown on FOX.
You forgot Finn Balor the inaugural WWE Universal Champion and dropped the title the next day due to injury and have not won the title of same stature yet...
I remember how hot Dean Ambrose was from 2015 to 2016. Despite being possibly the most popular member of the Shield at that time, it seemed like the company always treated him like he was the black sheep of the group. They really should’ve put the title on Ambrose sooner most specifically at WrestleMania 32, considering the fact that he was the company’s workhorse. Didn’t help the fact that WWE turned him into a comedy act.
FACTS wwe booking moxley terribly for years after the shield broke up and like you said making him a comedy wrestler is one of the reasons why I don’t blame moxley for leaving the wwe in 2019.

It was definitely bad booking, it was bad enough that she was booked to tap out before the 3rd count at Summerslam 2022 against Ronda, in addition having only 3 defenses in 98 days. In this reign so far she's had 8 defenses in 40 plus days, 2 televised defenses and 6 live events defenses, she had a defense last night, she might have another tonight.
That was only because Russo had booked them into a corner by having Kane say he would "burn himself to death" if he didn't win; apparently having it for a night was enough to stave off his suicidal tendencies... 🤣🤣🤦♂🤦♂
It really annoyed me when, around 2007 or so, they started to depict EVERY woman on the WWE roster as a potential champion, and many of them did become champions even though most people would say they didn't deserve to get anywhere near a title. I always have, and still do, think of that trend as nothing but political correctness run amok, because apparently if any woman can't quite cut it in the ring - even though it's against ANOTHER woman - that is "sexist" somehow. I genuinely hate a lot of the women who "won." Whether male or female, not everyone needs to win a world title, all right? For that matter, not everyone needs to win a title of any kind. It doesn't have to be about titles all the time.
I completely forgot that Bryan lost the championship mainly because I was a kid at the time. The only thing I really remember was his at Mania because the storyline was so good.
If I remember correctly the reason why Jericho became the undisputed champion in 2001 over the Rock and Stone Cold was that the rock would be taking a hiatus for the Scorpion King and Stone Cold was having problems.

Kofi, on the other hand, was a feel good story, but isn't actually top belt material. Some people just aren't main event or top guy material.

Surprised no one is mentioning Dolph Ziggler, literally everyone wanted him to be world champion and he deserved it, he got the loudest pop of the century when he cashed in, but this was only for Jack Swagger to give him a concussion, and they had him drop the title in his first defense
it isn't entirely ambrose / moxley's fault, with crippling alcohol dependency it is hard for a person to be in shape and have muscles. he's only had a handful of years to learn how to bench press in aew
idc what anybody says. in my opinion, DB's wwe title win at wrestlemania 30 will forever be an iconic moment in wwe history. but it still is a shame that the run had to be cut very, very short.

Kane tittle reign felt like a gigantic apology towards glen jacobs, an apology that came too late and was botched on execution, kane doesnt get to beat taker clean and jobs to edge of all people, should have give him a proper tittle while he had the mask on.
No he wouldn't; he was always losing it to Edge at SNME in July 2006; they just pushed the Triple Threat with Cena forward two weeks to the nearest Raw after this happened; it was the ECW title he was meant to have kept for a long time, though they didn't care any more or less about it than they did later; in fact, it probably would have been Rob instead of Lashley who lost it to Vince...

Dean Ambrose title reign was disappointing to me bc I really hoping thought WWE was going to book him well bc he was a hardworking wrestler who will try his best to make match the entertaining but WWE see him as a comedy act
RVD was losing the title at SMNE two weeks later, anyway; they pushed the match forward to that week's Raw to get the title off him early after the bust. He would have held the ECW title for a long time however; though I doubt it would have changed it's booking long-term...
WWE is great at the championship chase, but struggles with the follow up reign. It’s a difficult thing to do, but with Roman and currently Cody, it seems to be getting better.
Jericho's 2001 title reign was awesome, but WWE pushing both him and Triple H aside rather than keeping them in the main event storyline is what ruined Jericho's potential. Jericho and Triple H rivalry had a LOT of potential, but the writers just didn't know what to do with it.
Another dishonorable title run was Christian's world heavyweight title run in 2011, after Edge had to end the first part of his career after WM27, Christian got that feel good moment by winning the title his best friend had to drop. They flopped hard by having him hold the title for only about a month before dropping it to Randy Orton in a disappointing contest.
To be fair almost all these title runs especially during the 2010’s are obviously due to Vince I would also say the Miz’s first run with the WWE championship sucked in my opinion

RVD was the most disappointing in my eyes. That dude deserved the world and risked his body more than anyone you could imagine but smoked some pot and got stripped of the title smh nowadays riddle can make shirts that say 4:20 and it’s ok
I understand y RVD had to be punished by WWE. But the fact that they would never win another championship in WWE is wild. But then u look at Jeff Hardy, who messed up with drugs countless times and was still at the very least given runs with midcard titles. I understand Jeff's popularity, RVD was just as, if not more so. I just dont get that
Probably not much impact on Rollins' reign, but a lot of people I noticed stopped caring for Rollins when he went on his twitter crusade for WWE vs Indies while bringing up pay scale. The nail was Hell in the Cell DQ finish for his reign turning around.
Its such a shame what became of that Jeff Hardy's Championship run. He was so over that he reached the level of John Cena's popularity at the time. He can deliver great matches and he is good in promos. Unfortunately, his addiction and outside issues took a toll on him which gave WWE no choice but to let him go. HHH really saw through him and realized he is too unreliable to be the top guy at the time.
With such large amount of wrestlers, some of them kinda get screwed with being forgotten or with bad storylines, that include title reigns nobody cares or that end in poor ways... that is lack of judgment and respect for them, many of which great athletes.
RVD’s hurts the most, he deserved so much better but because he was ahead of his time in terms of cannabis use people who were against him used it as a reason to justify why he wasn’t a top guy but he was over af . I still wonder how WWE ECW would’ve been if it allowed RVD to be the guy
