I have an old KJV from American Bible Society. Had to reinforce the hinges and I refinished the cloth with black shoe-edge dressing. Among all my different Bibles/translations, it's still my favorite❤

Most expensive Bible I have is a brown calfskin Cambridge Diadem in CSB for a + tax and shipping total of $400 Canadian. My first bible I bought on my own dollar was an NKJV personal E-o-V reference for $50 CAD, then a Holman CSB Thinline Reference in Olive Leathertouch for $40 CAD, then a few other translations from a few other publishers. This all started just in the fall last year. Well, the CSB Thinline Reference took the crown as the EDC shortly after its purchasing, the NKJV reference went to a sister for Christmas, and all the others currently live on the shelf for comparing between or for future gifting. Eventually I shelled out for the Cambridge. While it's nearly identical in every way to the Holman, but premium, even that couldn't take over the top spot. Great for a table Bible, but too wide and floppy for my regular use.

My most expensive Bible is a NRSV from Zondervan, single column hardback, good sized print. $10. I have a New English Bible, a NIV Bible, a Life Application Study Bible in the NIV, and a KJV New Testament from the Goodwill and none of those cost more than $1.93. I have a Revised English Bible that cost almost 6 bucks. On my Kindle I have a HCSB that was free and a KJV and an ESV and a Reina-Valera Bible that cost 99 cents a piece. Oh yeah, impulse purchase, a NVI Santa Biblia in a floral pattern I found on clearance at Lifeway for around 6 bucks. I like hardback Bibles and larger print in single column. Other than that, I have looked at very expensive Bibles and they still say the same stuff my cheap and used Bibles do. Nice stuff is fine, but ease of reading is the most important to me. I do not care for floppy leather covers, hard to use. The Life Application Study Bible I have has a very strong bias in all the commentary, it is not as helpful as I thought it would be.

Correction: my Santa Biblia from Lifeway was $8.17. In fact, the Lifeway clearance section online has a great many very nice-looking CSB Bibles for cheap. They have one, CSB Notetaking Bible, Stained Glass Edition, that looks nice for $10.97. I have more Bibles than I need, so I didn't get it. I can read the CSB if I want online.

Schuyler ESV Quentel w/ Apocrypha . . . I am guessing (based on the preorder price as they're not out yet -- still waiting on MINE) it's the Full Yapp Siena Calfskin that Tim went with (opted for FY Crimson Red calfskin myself -- which would make this the most expensive Bible I've purchased *SO FAR* . . . ).

Correct! I also went with Sienna.

Most expensive Bible I bought -- not entirely sure, but I have genuine leathers of Cambridge (NKJV), Schuyler (CSB), and Humble Lamb (NASB / HIStory). Think all of those were between $200~300. Most expensive Bible I own though, that's a different answer. I actually just recently found a NIV Faithlife Study Bible at a local store for $40 Like New. This is what you get for free digitally on Logos, but the printings are like ghosts now, easily $300~600 in good condition. Awesome find! I am a lot more into Study Bibles than expensive leather ones, so most of my collection is in the $25~75 range. :)

I wonder, is there a time when love of the Bible as a book becomes or can become idolatry?

The love of any earthly physical item can be idolatry.

Personally for me, I prefer the Dake king James I like their hardback I like their bonded leather, and I like their genuine leather. This is what I prefer.
