Good request. Perhaps a couple different videos though - budget hunting and budget target. Budget 3D? I would like Chris to address when it makes the most sense to "buy once, cry once" - where does it make the best sense for the beginner to invest in a really good piece of equipment, while on other pieces of gear beginner should try to save money.
Those Nord Lock washers are no joke! Even without a locking compound is supposed to be stronger than any other “locking” type washer. Never seen them used on small scale operations like this. Mostly multimillion dollar equipment that can’t afford to have loose hardware.
Chris just taking a long shot guess, but I believe the Allen wrenches have a painted rubber texture that allows you to put them back in the strap and stay in place and not fall out? Not entirely sure. But maybe keeps them from slipping around.
there are a few things about Shibuya that I don't like. For example, scopes where you can not put a screw through from the inside (Beiter for example) are impossibly annoying to mount on these non-rotating bars. You lose your 2nd axis setting when moving the scope over one slot. And you also have to carry the metric allen keys with you. I like how super light they are, at least the original CPX used to be, idk about the new one. They are great for youth and women archers or basically anyone who is concerned about overall mass weight of the bow. I don't know the actual numbers, but they do make your bow noticably lighter in your hand compared to an Axcel or SureLoc. The new SureLocs are suuuper heavy. They will become loose over time, but there are four rubber pieces that clamp the head of the sight to the bar, which you can tighten down. Be very careful with those when you do tighten them down, 1/16 of a turn to start. Axcel have a system that IMO is better than Shibuyas, but they do also have to be tightened down occasionally. I do it maybe twice a year, but I shoot a lot with a fairly heavy scope setup. It's a bit nicer because you just need to loosen one screw and push a lever (with an indicator) and not four seperate ones. The original Achieve CXL even had a lever underneath the axis sliding block that served as a lock for the quick travel as well.
I remember when I got my Ultima CPX a few years ago, I was so excited to see the NordLocks on it, as I was constantly retorqueing the bolts on my old Sight. I've just got one of these CP Pro sights to replace it with (It still lives, will just go an live on the spare bow) I like the new bar, and mounting system, and I'm glad to see the quick disconnect that they've now added, as that was the one thing I missed most about my old Axcel. One of the things I noticed, about Shibuya's attention to detail, is that they've maintained the extension distance, even with the the disconnect being added, compared to my old CPX. So for a given mounting index, the sight extension remained exactly the same. Also, for the bow mounting, there are lines on the carbon bar, that line up with the edge of the mounting block that index with the circular grooves in the lock down screw. The one thing I'd like to see, is more sight tapes available. For me, I need something in between 2 of the options, aside from that, I think that this is honestly well worth the premium price tag.
I really wish UltraView would make a midrange, affordable scope/sight combo. Us middle age Dads have kids to put through College, LOL. Nice video, brother!
Those lock washers are called Nordlock. The design of them alone is worth looking into. Basically the way they work is they're used in pairs and the pitch of the teeth on them combined is steeper than the pitch of the screw making it harder to overcome the lock. They work great and should be used everywhere.
There's a built in offset in the windage unit, he could use the outmost position (rightmost in the initial shot) and pull the scope holder back in easily :)
The UV3 looks so damn good. I'm kinda bummed I bought the UV2 a couple months ago, but it still works perfectly, so I don't mind too much. The problem with detaching the entire sight block is that it's a target sight. You will not be able to put it back perfectly to where you'd want it.
iv had to use these kind of sites my whole life of hunting. i cant get used to a site with a post. where the pins are sitting on a black post. I never shot well until i made the change. These types of sites are great for hunting too.
When you started adjusting the windage on the Shibiya, was it bottomed out/adjusted all the way to the right? Sure looked like it. Especially considering half way through its range you see the red ‘center’ mark appear. So I think it’s pretty similar amounts of travel between the two.
Hello, I would like to ask who should buy 6" and who should buy 9" for compound target archery, the 9" version looks too long I think. Thank you for video :)
I ran the ultima cpx and cpxII for 2 years I loved them but liked the scope quick disconnect on the axcel better so I switched plus shibuya didn't have the color I wanted, you wont drop points because of the sight though they are fantastic and very precise
I am setting up a Mathews TRX 34,I bought this Shibuya Cp Pro and the Ultraview XL and I’m considering a larger front stabilizer tell me what you are using and and what you would recommend? I am buying a 50 lb bow I’m a retired Carpenter and that should that should max me out!
I have a pair of Lacrosse Iceman boots that I bought in 1990 and they're still like new. The performance has been outstanding. Do you have any products or gear that you've used for over 30 yrs that you can recommend?
@@outdoorfamilytraditions9352 Wait. I'm confused. People are calling this guy a legend. If he's not even 30 yrs old, when did he have time to become a legend?
@@outdoorfamilytraditions9352 It's an interesting dichotomy. Being a great target archer means nothing in the deer woods. In the '80s and '90s I won a lor of tournaments but I made a lot of really stupid mistakes while hunting. When I stopped worrying about being able to hit a dime at 50 yds, I started killing better bucks. Now, I can't keep 6 arrows in the 10 ring at 30 yds, but my last 4 bucks have all been P&Y....and I'm still using a 27 yr old bow and aluminum arrows.
I was so close to getting one of these shibuyas last month. Ended up getting a Black Gold Comp 2. I don’t think I could’ve gone wrong with either (or axcel), but chose USA made.
I could never justify spending anywhere near that much on anything for my bow. I like the brand spott hogg but there parts are just super expensive I use the brand topoint I have the scopes sights drop away arrow rest the but I have good arrows and good release and a good bow
It’s all preferences, it’s like saying why buy a lambo when you can get to your destination in a honda. Of ourse there’s some things that makes other sight feel like theirs are premium, you can get a shibuya, axcel, spot hogg, cbe or even just avalon and topoint but all in all, it all comes down to skill.
Y’all drop suggestions for me. I’m looking at getting a new hunting setup from top to bottom and can’t decide on a sight. Looking fore a 1 pin with a dovetail
@@dalton-ychtuz7851 I personally haven’t used the fast eddie but my buddy swears by them and is the only sight he uses. Very high quality and a good sight.
Shybuia are hands down the best sight made if they didn't come with metric Allen wrenches. Nothing worse then having to carry PSE's crappy torque wrenches, AAEs standard Allen wrenches for stabalizers and Shybuia metric wrench
Unless you're like me, live in Australia, so have a set of Metric keys in tool kit anyway. And in the field, no need to carry the metric keys for the sight anyway, no adjustment that you'd need to make in the field requires a key anyway.
Do you really have to throw everything around? It’s very childlike and immature. Just makes you look like you don’t care about the products or your sponsors. I guess it’s very appealing to the new generation of kids!
