The “Most Extreme Declutter and Organize Series”is here! In today’s video I declutter and organize my entire kitchen. This is a long and VERY chatty video. In this series I will be decluttering and organizing my entire home, the end goal is to become as minimalistic as I possibly can! I am over all of my things, I am tired of spending a large portion of my day cleaning, organizing and keeping up after all of my things, so I am getting rid of A LOT, A LOT! This is a new journey for my family and I. I don’t know a whole lot about minimalism and I don't know if I can ever call myself a minimalist (I'll explain in other videos throughout the series) but I am going to try my hardest to become more minimalistic. Throughout this series we are going to talk about all things decluttering and organizing as well as a bunch of other topics and all of the new things I am learning when it comes to minimalism. So we are starting in the kitchen first, next I will go through the bedrooms, really focusing on the laundry, that will be fun LOL. I really hope you enjoy the series and I hope you join me through this new journey. Thank you so much for being here!

As a minimalist for 6 years I have to say you're one of the youtubers that I really see a change in the mentality, a lot of youtubers put minimalism in the title because it's trend but I feel like you really want to change. Some advices: 1 you'll want to get rid of everything at first but then you're find your balance. 2. Minimalism it's different for everyone, just do what feels confortable for you and your family. Don't feel intimidated by the minimalist community, unfortunately just like in the Sahm there's a lot of fakeness and people trying to sell an lifestyle. 3. More than decluttering, it's important to rethink our buying, buy less, and use the money for things that really matter. 4. I can guarantee you gonna miss some stuff but we figure out a way of doing things without. 5. You don't have to get rid of all sentimental or important things. Good luck on your journey👍 Sorry about the mistakes, english it's not my first language.

One of the things I was going to discuss in future videos is the difficulty I will have with shopping, with bringing things into the home. Because you are right re thinking the way I shop and buy things, being selective on what I bring into the home is going to be very key! These tips were incredibly helpful and I greatly appreciate it! My husband is completely on board with this change which is really awesome! That helps! And I really appreciate you saying you see a real change! Thats really awesome! Thank you so much for watching and being here!

Oh yes! I often see these decluttering and goung minimalistic videos, but then the next video on the channel is a huge (useless) junk haul 🤦‍♀️ I've decluttered years ago and since then shop much less, never accept useless gifts, freebies etc. Life is sooo much better. Also I have never regretted or missed anything I have gotten rid of :)

Everything you said is sooo true! I agree that it is not really practical to convert from a pack rat to a minimalist in one single go. It’s okay to question a few things. You can keep those items for now, make a list of them, and then revisit these items in 6mo or 1year to see if they’ve just been collecting dust. I would suggest to give yourself some time to go through the process, it takes time and everyone, and the things that they value, are different! Someone who loves to bake may keep several muffin tins, I myself purged mine long ago because they came in a bakeware set and I never used them! Good luck on your journey, I will enjoy watching you progress through it ! 😌

I wish I would have done this at a younger age like you. I am now 60 and today I am starting to go thru my stuff. When I think back of all the things I bought because they were cheap, I liked the color, it was a good deal! Less is better. If you really need something at a later date and don’t have, it, you can go to Goodwill and buy it for that occasion and then donate when the occasion is over.
@danniraearranged

100% I did the exact same thing I would buy things for the same reasons and sometimes I just shopped to shop (Im going to talk a lot more about that in future videos in the series, why I shop, why Im bringing so much into the home) I have to completley re think the way I shop! I have found some of my favorite items from thrift stores! And so true, if I need it, I can get it at a later date and always donate it afterwards. Less is better and it feels so good to have gotten rid of all of that stuff! Thank you so much for watching, commenting and being here!

I was in the hospital 6 days with c19. When I got home I laid in the guest room sick staring at stuff and day after day mentally deciding to let go of stuff...lots of stuff...and the minute I could STAND I started getting it together to go. I kept at it for the past year. This week I found 7 things to go. On the 1st I decluttered 36 items. I've run out of things..even wall art is too much visual clutter for me. The moral of my story is simple, only YOU can define what minimal means to YOU. KEEP AT IT, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!.

Thats exactly why the Konmari method isnt for everyone. The Konmari method actually promotes being overwhelmed it makes u see how much u have and is supposed to make u want to get rid of it. some people with bad anxiety like myself.. just cant do that... doing it in small sections at a time really is a great alternative for those who cant deal with the anxiety. Great job!

I toted around a mini muffin pan for over a decade because of a baking show I saw once on Food Network. I never EVER made the flower shaped lemon cream cup recipe, but yet felt like I had to hold on to that reminder and pressure that I needed to fullfill a self-imposed expectation. FOR OVER 10 YEARS. And then I realized I actually hate making muffons/cupckars because of needing to wash that cumbersome pan. So I finally let that go and give myself a break. I prefer to bake cookies or things in a loaf/sheet pan. The end

I think whats throwing me off is that I dont want my garbage/recycling bins out (they were out for a long while, im placing them in the mudroom currently) so I was thinking of getting smaller bins and placing them under the sink, because I dont know where else to put them? The cleaners were under the sink. I have to re think some things LOL because your right it would be better to have that long cabinet as the pantry! When you were showing your kitchen, and came to the area where you have your cleaning supplies it set me back a moment because I have that same cabinet in MY kitchen, and I use it for a food pantry. When you opened it and showed those buckets with cleaning supplies, I think I blinked about 34 times. It would not compute in my brain! I do think you are giving up valuable real estate using that pantry cabinet that way and struggling with that deep corner cabinet for food storage. I am afraid you are going to end up with lots of expired things that get pushed way back and forgotten. I am not familiar with the layout of the rest of your home, but is it too far to go to gather those cleaning items from your mud room or your laundry room when needed? That way you could still keep the sink cupboard for your recycle bins. Or just keep one spray cleaner, or any other item you use daily for your counters, etc in the kitchen w a roll of paper toweling for everyday use. Good job! I have that many spatulas (and possibly more) and I use each one for a different purpose, so when I try to get rid of any of them, I panic a bit. Of course I am 71 yrs old, so old dog, new tricks......... :-)

I want to remind everyone of one key rule. Minimalism is not about HOW MUCH YOU OWN and HOW LITTLE you can keep. It is about truly looking at the stuff and keep stuff that work FOR YOU. If you need 40 stuff in your closet but you know you use them daily and enjoy them all then that’s for you! If you only have 5 pieces of clothing and it works FOR YOU then it’s for you. Minimalism is almost a process of having what you need and put into use, truly knowing what you have and not the amount of stuff you keep.

You do NOT talk too much! That is how I felt after decluttering my house…happy…freer….lighter. Especially my bedroom and kitchen. I do not entertain like I used to, so why was I holding on to serving trays, platters, tablecloths, and ice buckets? Tons of containers, many with no lids. I purged and donated and it felt great! I can do just fine with what I kept! Probably could have let go of more. But I plan to revisit my things once a year and see if there are things I still haven’t used, and out they’ll go. You always make me laugh ❤️

The kitchen and bedroom is always the 2 places that seem to have the most stuff and for me there the 2 places that stresses me out the most! The bedroom/laundry is next! Yes It feels so good to let all of that stuff go, I was a little nervous at first but when I walked through that kitchen I felt, like you put it perfectly, lighter! It really did! Great idea visiting all of your items once a year! Keeps things manageable. Thanks for watching, so happy your here!

I had three children they are however all grown up now and in there 30s... But when they was little I never had alot of everything one because the more you have the more you clean . Eg Sheets 3 sets per person Towels 3 per person Clothing limited on each child in the days same with shoes and other items etc . It also taught me to appreciate what I had and not to rush out and buy things all the time and I only went and purchased item if I really needed to etc . We as mother's or wives etc cause ourselves way to much work we deserve to take care of ourselves .

Hey, I wanted to chat about how you're situating items and which ones are getting prime real estate. The cleaning gear is getting one of the most accessable food cupboards and that corner food pantry is so deep, it's going to be really hard to keep organised. I'd like to suggest simplifying your cleaners - one spray, one creme cleaner and dish soap. Make it simple, for the whole house. And keep it under the sink, or up high on one shelf, if you have toddlers. The corner cabinets are great for 2-3 electrical items, 2 stacks of plates, or rarely used items.
@annw1395
@annw1395 3 года назад
I agree. Move the food to where your cleaning supplies currently are. I have a corner cabinet like yours, and it's best for large items -- small things get lost in the corners snd back. Use pull-out bins (on shelves) for your smaller items (cans, spices), and they work like drawers.
@danniraearranged

This is GREAT advice! I love this! I think I'm struggling with those 2 cabinets you mentioned. I think whats throwing me off, is that I want to palce garbage and recycling bins under the kitchen sink because I dont want them out and I cant think of any other place to put them. Under the sink is where I used to have my cleaners. (I dont have little, little ones anymore) But I would really like to use the long cabinet with the cleaners in it for pantry items, I agree I think that would be better. I have a problem when it comes to buying cleaners lol. Thats one of the things Ill be talking about is my shopping and why im bringing so much into the home. I have to completley re think how I shop. Its hard LOL. Thank you so much for this awesome advice I really appreciate it! Thank you so much for watching, commenting and being here, so happy you're here with me!

Ann W. It is to deep, I agree! I think I am really struggling with those 2 cabinets because I really would like to place my trash and recycling bins under the sink, because I dont want those things out in the open, but I dont know where else to place them. I do agree the long cabinet would be better for pantry items. I think I am going to have to do some thinking when it comes to the cleaners, pantry items and garbage/recycling bins. I could place the garabge/recycling bins in the mudroom? and then move the cleaners back under the sink, and then place the pantry items in the long cabinet? I dont know if that would be practicle for the trash/recycling? Ugh I might have to just have the garbage/recycling back out again LOL. Thank you for the advice! I really appreciate it!
@annw1395
@annw1395 3 года назад
Maybe just keep minimum cleaners in the kitchen, and put the ones used elsewhere in the house in the laundry room or mudroom. Keep the garbage and recycling in the kitchen bc those get used constantly. If you don't want them under the sink, buy a nice stainless steel, double trash can perhaps.
@annw1395
@annw1395 3 года назад
Hey, wait. You've got some other empty spaces. Why don't you put your pyrex bowls with the blue lids (and whatever else is in that cabinet) either in the drawer below the foil, or on the shelf over your spices. Then use that cabinet for cleansers used in the kitchen. Relocate the rest elsewhere.

You did a fantastic job. I am so proud of you. It is so nice to see when a person decides she is going to do something and then does it. You also did it for the world to see. Thank you so much for sharing your questions on what you should keep and what you should let go of. It is a wonderful idea to put the boxes full of donations immediately into your car. I just recently did some more decluttering. The two men who came to get the donated items that I had in my garage and out by my shed were so nice and it is nice to have let go of these items. Since I am a hoarder who no longer hoards things I struggled after these things were gone. I felt that part of me had gone away and I felt lost. I have decided that I am never going to do what I did which was to hoard things. I still have to work through the mental part of hoarding. What I mean is that I will work with my therapist on how to no longer be a hoarder mentally. When I was a hoarder I acquired things and some of those things were plain garbage. The hoarding started because of two traumas: (1) being abused as a child & (2) the death of my only child. I put my identity into the things that I had acquired. I have a friend who is a hoarder but does not realize it. She had many traumas and chooses not to deal with them. She says she is a strong person & she would never be where I am at. She chooses to not understand my mental illness & I am somewhat okay with it. I have major depression, anxiety, and agoraphobia. My heart goes out to her. I pray for her to get help with her hoarding and to declutter her patio and master bedroom. I do know that I cannot fix her and she is not open to my bringing up the subject that she is a hoarder. Unfortunately, she is in denial. Her husband is planning to help her clean off their patio. I have been praying about this. I pray for peace during that time. He has told her what they are going to do, but I don't believe that she understands how much stuff that he wants to let go of. A few things were his father's and the rest except for the barbecue is hers. Please pray for her. Thank you.

I am so so very sorry for your loss, I can not, can not, imagine the loss of a child. My heart breaks for you! My sincerest condolences. I also am so sorry about the trauma you have endured. My thoughts and prayers go out to you! I think that you are an incredibly brave and strong woman to have gone through what you've gone through and to have struggled with hoarding, but are working through it! You should be so proud of yourself! What a huge accomplishment to have had all of those things and to have let them go. I cant imagine that was easy, not at all! To have let go of all those things and felt a part of you had gone with it, that can't be easy. You are such a great friend, it is so hard to watch someone you care about struggle and hurt, especially when you know what that feels like. Its hard to talk to someone who is in denial, I pray for her, I pray that she comes around and seeks help. Thank you so much for your kind words, thank you for this comment and sharing this with us. I think you are so strong & brave! Thank you for being here with me! Sending thoughts and prayers to you and your friend!

I got sick of my dishes too! I literally got rid of all my plates, bowls, and coffee cups. I switched to white Corelle, and never looked back. I did not buy the boxed set, because the cups and bowls were too small and I needed more than 4 each. I splurged maybe $20 more dollars doing it this way. Giant bowls! And Rae Dunn coffee mugs. The dishes themselves are so light- I can grab ALL of them out of the dishwasher and put them away at once. They stack very, very well. I used a wire shelf-thing to separate large from small in my cupboard. And if one dish breaks, I can replace it a la carte from Walmart.

Just found you/this vid. Girl i'm right there w/ ya. Couple tips I found helpful--#1 if I can replace it for a $1 or less and I'm having trouble deciding I declutter it. (Actually now I've moved up to the $5 mark but I started at $1). My 2nd tip is my 3 questions rule (#3 is the most helpful imo). Q1: Does it spark joy---yea yea ok the fridge joy bs...but see I didn't fully understand this originally for a long time bc shit like my flatiron or kitchen sponges don't spark joy per se but that was until I realized that joy could mean utility so I expanded the question to be "does it spark joy or have utility in my life RIGHT NOW?" (the right now part is important) Q2: Do i use it now/in present? (If you haven't touched it in ages bc it's been in a hoard pile you prob don't need it...you can set aside new or clean items until you pitch all the actual trash and then revisit when it's more clear what you're dealing with but be honest w/ yourself!) and finally, Q3 (the most important!): If I lost this item right now, would I go out and rebuy it now??? This I find to be the most telling as I really have a hard time parting w/ items I spent "good money" on like jeans that are new and I haven't worn yet...but I may not even like them anymore and just don't want to part with them bc they're new and were expensive. If I wouldn't rebuy the item, it goes. I've been trying to do decluttering in stages but you def get better at it as you go. I also try to look at it as we pay for our homes or apts sq footage so the space our crap holds is costing us mortgage and rent payments and that's some expensive real estate I don't really want to donate to my unused crap anymore. Also i rec not to decorate or buy home goods or organizational stuff until you're done sorting and actually have space, places and uses for new things. I wish you all the success you're amazing!

I have one set of the white trimmed in black Corelle that you showed, so that is simple. I can get rid of mismatched cups , saving my favorites. Plastic containers I have sent home with food in with request that I never see them again. Glass containers all the way now. I admire your determination. Minimizing (I prefer to say, simplifying) is an addiction! 😆 I started my journey almost 5 years ago now, and after decluttering literally 50% of what I owned in one go, I still find more stuff to donate or recycle. I got rid of all my colorful clothes so it's easier to dress myself since I only own neutral, I also got rid of all the extra utensils who only had one purpose. I can cut garlic with a knife or scoop ice cream with a spoon... no need for gadgets. I'm at a point in my life where I'm even minimizing my food, for example I don't see the need of having 7 types of pasta and 5 of rice anymore. Long pasta, short pasta, white rice, brown rice, enough! (of course I don't have a husband and kids, so it's easy to go wild!)

Oh my gosh I couldnt agree more! After completing the kitchen I want and feel so motivated to just go through the house and get rid of as much stuff as I can. I cant remember the last time I felt that good standing in my kitchen. I know its a process and I have A LOT to learn, but I am very excited to continue with the whole house! I really love the idea of owning only neutral clothing, I will be simplifying my clothes by A LOT! Love this comment, thank you so much for watching and being here with me!

There's this phenomena I experience whenever I declutter. If I haven't used something in say, 6 months, I get rid of it. It never fails, about 3 weeks later, I need it. This happens all the time.

Oh sweetheart those jars with attached lids...you can water bath can jelly. Well you know one mans trash....Danni Im wishing you lived next door...lol. Much of what you are donating are items I am changing to. My kitchen..after I decluttering is going to be turquoise and vintage. I just got my great grandmas butter churn. I feel blessed that I just got some of my Native American family items. Not like dream catchers but some hand made wooden furniture. I cant wait to send you pics. Literally Im so ashamed but realizing no aides or help is coming and I will do what I can do! I will get EVERYTHING DONE PERFECT ONE DAY AT A TIME! You are truly an inspiration and believe I was divinely led to you. You do NOT talk too much sweetheart. ❌❌❌⭕❤🌹🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞

A rule I use when decluttering especially in the kitchen is considering how many stove burners or how large your oven is. Realistically most people have 4 burners so you can’t really cook with more than 4 pots or pans at a time. So unless it’s a special item like crock pot or Dutch oven then you don’t need it. With spoons you just need no more than 2 of each kind. Just in case you have a partner in the kitchen. Otherwise you only have 2 hands. So with the baking tins. You probably only need one or two of each kind because the average oven only has 2 racks. Hopefully I’m making sense and hopefully this helps whoever reads this

I think a lot of us hold onto gifted things, and feel guilty to give it away. I know most of my clutter is gifted.
@danniraearranged
@danniraearranged 3 года назад
Its so hard to get rid of gift items, because we think of the time and money spent on the gift, but I have to remind myself, that it sitting there collecting dust and not serving a purpose, not being used isnt benefiting anyone! I end up having to convince myself of that.... and its still so hard LOL. So then I end up having a debate or yelling at myself 🤣 Thankyou so much for watching, commenting and being here!

Me too! It’s hard to let go of the guilt. I try to think of the reason it was given, and it’s not to be a burden. It was to remind you that they care about you and you are important. If the item is no longer serving that function, it’s time to go. Say a thank you in your mind for the thoughtfulness of the gift and let it go.

I am a Baby Boomer and have been downsizing for a long time. I look at all these videos about hoarding and becoming a minimalist. I have discarded a lot. You have those glass and pottery bowls that are indicated of my generation. I can't not get rid of my glass bowls and use them for flower arrangements. The pottery bowls are vintage, so I keep them. Many items were inherited so that is also why it is hard to get rid of many items. Everything that you basically gave away,I would have kept especially the muffin tins, and those lock jars would make nice bathroom accessories. Cotton balls,guest soaps,.etc . or as you say,DIY. Are you the daughter of Thrift for Thrill? You sound just like her even laugh like her. I GOT RID OF MUCH and had remorse for a long time. Now,I repurpose. because it is hard to get rid of things. I made a plan,tell myself, I am moving and can't take everything so that has been helpful. I have also begun to say,what is the basic essentials,I need and that is helping, but still have a long way to go.lol Those Rachel Ray Oven bowls are very expensive!!! This was a great video!!!! If you have a yard sale,I would buy all of your things;eventhough, I may have what, I would buy again.

You want glass cooking pots made of borosilicate glass or pure surgical steel. The coated pans are super toxic as well as reg stainless. Keep going. You are adorable.Minimalism is a lifestyle that is expansive in that it involves not only STUFF, but your practice in all aspects of living. Snacks should be plant based and organic grains. No Chips , cookies, candy, high fat carbs, etc. Cause problems.Residing in N W Fla, on gulf of Mexico , we know in a sec we can lose all in a flash. You know that feeling when you are touring an empty home during real estate hunt? It is the space and light that we truly love. I love empty rooms....space to move and live. Great vid! Yes, you are very sweet and no need to explain. Love, k from the sea
