This game has a special place in my Heart. Rest easy Mike, my dom too has passed onto the other side in search of his beloved Maria. 27 years young, a pleasure it was having you.
the main menu music gives me chills and nostalgia. this game shaped my childhood. warzone and execution on gridlock will forever be intertwined with my soul.
Gears 1-3 are absolute fucking masterpieces. Thousands of hours spent in these games, the music is so fucking daunting, the storyline, unmatched, the kills, brutal and impactful, fuck i love these games.
@@cooldes4593 nah. I just think gears 4 sucked actual donkey dick. I have to give it to 5 though imo it brought the story back. The end of 5 actuall had my crying like a little bitch ngl not to mention the soundtrack was phenomenal for that one too. I just think in terms of good games, 1 2 and 3 take the cake of the franchise.
@@cooldes4593 You prolly play roblox huh? These games were and still are masterpieces. Don't be mad that you didn't get to experience their glory back in the day big dawg
Being on summer break or tracking out (for year round school) and playing Gears, Halo, MW2 and Oblivion with friends are some true core memories that will always be special to me. Good times indeed
not just could you headshot with it, if the arrow doesn't hit their body on the way out it can keep going and hit someone else too. gears 3 even had a medal for killing 2 people with the same torque bow bolt. funnily enough you could also headshot with the boomshot in gears 3 too its just you know lol
This game was so ahead of its time graphically. I remember playing this in 0’6 and being absolutely blown away. Ima big time PlayStation guy but this remains one of my favorite games ever
I got Xbox360 with Gears for my 18th Bday. My friends would come to my place to play or I would bring it to my best friends' place and we would spend hours on hours playing the campaign. They all bought a X360 for Gears. When Gears 2 came out with the Horde mode it was crazy, we had infinite hours to spend on the game playing couch Co-op. The nostalgia is real
Moist - "Guys we're playing this the old fashioned way, the way it was meant to be played" Also Moist "Guys I think we can just speed run and skip all this" hahahaha
@@kewtd72 meh, I've used emulators and honestly would much rather play on original hardware because there is always at least one imperfection that takes me out of the experience and reminds me 'oh yeah I'm on an emulator' I was playing gears on PC through an emulator and eventually just decided to play on my series x
I havé thé original géars for PC still in thé original unopened Cellophane wrap. Going on on eBay soon with other gears original unopened games and XBOX 360 gears console. Any takers hit me up!
I remember being very young and going to a friends house watching him play this occasionally. Him beating people to death with their own arm was something I’ve never seen before. I was used to Minecraft and Cod but he made me fall in love with the dark tone and gore of the series.
I played through this game with my dad and my sister a couple years ago, my sister never liked cover shooters but this was the one game we kept going back to when we were bored.
The amount of hours I put into these games all the way up to Gears 4 is crazy! I stopped playing for a long time now but seeing this makes me want to relive it.
I played Gears 1 in High school. By the time Gears 3 came out I was already married with kids. Convinced my wife to play with me and showed her how to play. She loved the gore and bad language! She was hooked! We would play Horde mode for 12 hours straight until we would beat wave 50. We even ordered Chinese food to make it even better. I miss those days..
i remember renting this back in 2006 and then buying 2nd and 3rd beating them with my brother, real gaming at its finest and you have unlocked those memories for me thanks
Spent an entire year with one of my best buddies working so hard to get on the leaderboards. They always reset on a certain day for weekly/monthly filters and we'd be on there for a bit. It got really competitive and I miss that sometimes.
They were such different vibes and really helped round out the 360s library. You could pretty much get away with playing only H3 and Gears 1 for literal years and you were set, especially with how generous they were with the map packs for both games.
The first Beserker level scared the shit out of me as a kid Btw How is ultimate edition watered down? It's literally the same game but graphically better and 60 fps.
This game series plays such a big role in my life. My dad showed me when I was like 8 or 9 and we stayed over night at gamestop for every release afterwards. My best memory was when he first showed me G1 I ran away scared from the wretches during the intro cutscene.
The grimy, melacholic atmosphere of the early Gears games was absolutely the biggest factor to why it remains to be so memorable. Moving away from that was a big mistake
I grew up with this series. Watched my dad play it when I could barely speak and grew up playing it. I beat all campaigns on the hardest difficulty. Now seeing that my fav youtuber also loved this series makes my day. Gears of War 6 PLEASE!!!!
Man i remember glitch lobbys. Both teams get in a party and just try glitches. Then a random pops in and immediately understands whats happening and joins. Man im the same age as charlie and this was my childhood. Too bad my xbox red ringed for a second time and i just went and got a playstation around the time 3 came out. Never played it. But Gears 1 was such a vibe in 6th through 9th grade. Shit talking was so peak too, there were the people who werent good at talking shit so they defaulted to what people think of when they think of old xbox live trash talkers today. But a lot of us were genuinely funny and would make each other laugh while trash talking. Such a fun time.
This was one of the 1st games I had ever played. I played the heck outta this game back in elementary school and the one section I was always scared to play was the first beserker section. The main 3 Gears of War games will forever be close to my heart. I remember seeing the trailer for Gears of War 2 and just being so pumped. Than with Gears of War 3 I remember waiting in line at Gamestop for the midnight release of it on a school night. Till this day I still play through the campaigns and the occasional Horde 1-50 with my brother. Oh and once you get to Gears of War 3 play the dlc campaign because the dlc is also a prequel to this game and its just pretty awesome.
One of my first gaming memories along with halo, I remember my older brother used to come round and have pirated copies of Xbox 360 games and one of them was GoW, he also had a gta copy and every time you’d go to a certain park the game would just crash, the good old days.
The nostalgia hit on this was euphoric lol especially the grittiness of playing it on the original hardware. This game blew me away at the time, the good ol’ days.
A group of friends and myself met on the original Gears through the multiplayer. Eighteen years later and we still get together and play Gears Ultimate every week or so. Haven’t missed a beat. We still trash talk each other and have a blast as if no time has passed.
This was one of the first games I played in my whole life, and I'm not the only one who adores and loves this masterpiece😢 This loading screen still gives me chills🗣🔥
2006 I was 13 years old and got my first official console which was the original Xbox 360, and gears of war was the first game I ever got, I didn’t even have Xbox live or any sort of online mode, I would just play the story over and over again and never getting bored for a second.
Bro I love the fact you love Gears and just like you Gears 1 was where it was at. Host hunting, wall bouncing, pop shotting, and everything else in this amazing franchise
Most of these young people don't even know about this game, there's a special place in my heart I played the first one through the third one and the DLCs this was like one of my favorite childhood games on Xbox 360
Was too young for the first 2 but I remember my friend getting gears of war 3 when we were in like 5th grade, walking home all excited to be traumatized by being ripped in half by the lambert
I've played that few years back. If you're using an original pc copy you'd need to set the time on your computer to somewhere around 2006, otherwise it won't even launch :D
True nostalgia right here, summer vacation me (was 9, my uncle and 2 cousins would played gears of war 1 the first day it came out. We put a solid 3 full days playing this and oblivion, i remember everyone falling alseep but me, and i layed on the couch, and just stared at the main menu of gears. Took us hours to kill the beserker (ye i know) and we loved every second of it, even if we died we got such a kick out of the way it played as kids. Idk why i did it, but it captured me hard, fck i love this game. good ol simpler times.
This game has an importance to me also, I remember being at my cousin's place for Christmas, and he taking me to CompUSA to buy this game. My cousin was several years older than me and we never really connected on much, he was the traditional bro type of guy, I was just a massive nerd. I remember booting this game for the first time and playing co-op with him, its the first time we really bonded together and realized we share a lot more in common than we thought. Even today we mention the fun moments during this game.
Me and my brother made a lag switch for this game by adding a flip style switch to an Ethernet cable lol. If you had host on multiplayer in this game, you could just flip the switch and get your kill. The power to make an entire lobby lag for my own enjoyment was more power than I was ready for as a child
You don’t understand the joy/ smile on my face that the title and video brought to me, this game was so fucking ahead of its time! Truly unfortunate that after 3 the series started to take a decline.. I love this series so damn much though and will always stay close to the heart for me!
I don't think Gears 4 and 5 were objectively bad, just not as good as the original trilogy. But in terms of 1-3 I felt it was a rare instance of each sequel getting better and better. I understand for Charlie Gears 1 has the sentimental value but in terms of story escalation, features, new enemies & weapon types, graphical & quality of life improvements- 2 & 3 knocked it out the park. 4 player co op in Gears 3 was huge
@insertname319 yeah agreed, I think 4 is the weakest in terms of the main games. I need to replay 5 because my memories of that are lost in the pre-pandemic haze
@@Battered_Fanny probably isn't a great indicator that I don't remember the story at all. Key memories are just "grenade Lancer go boom". I remember liking the multiplayer because people felt less tanky and it meant you could get away with using pretty much anything and not have to rely on the Gnasher
@@waywardgun The newer games really do have good multiplayer (Both IMO) The issue is that they lack everywhere else, and Gears 4 was hit by that real bad micro-transaction currency “bug” for all of its cosmetics which really soured many on it. 5 was better about it, but the story was still lacking, and many of the games problems like currency, cosmetics and even horde weren’t fixed til many had already given up.
