Most Important Red Sox Deadline in Years? Undecided? || The Greg Hill Show 

We won't really know until every team decides to either buy or sell. I haven't checked yet, but it's still too early. Media guys need something to talk about, but most teams don't do anything early in July. Even tougher now when so many teams wait until the last minute to decide to buy or sell. Since every team does that, it's silly for the media to even be asking these questions at this point.

Even Bloom made some additions some years. I wouldn't worry about some idiots that work in radio looking for hot takes every single day.

In '22, they didn't look like a good team. They couldn't extend a decent June and I felt (in part due to the extra wild card leading to even more buyers than sellers) it would've been smart to sell. Last year's team, while better, was disjointed at parts ("[Pablo Reyes] is not an everyday player" cooked to mind). There seems to be more buy-in on this team to do what is needed to win, including small ball. And now that the team thinks they have a chance, Devers is playing well.

@@HHSGDFootballJPD Bloom definitely should have been selling more the last couple years. He was a pretty bad GM overall. The only bright spot is the improvement in the farm system which may or may not be attributable to him. Basically not selling anyone on the farm is usually going to make it better. At this point, this team is the beginning of the future. These are some of the young players we've been waiting for and many more are on their way. As long as they don't collapse in the next 2 weeks, this is when they should start trying to make moves to try win. They shouldn't sacrifice the future for this year alone so probably don't trade away any blue chip prospects. It is incredibly valuable to have a lot of good young players that don't make much money and the Sox are on the cusp of that happening. Then if they start spending to add it could be something special. Hopefully keep Cora too.

As seen by the World Baseball Classic and game 1 of this past Yankees series, Masa is a great clutch guy to have, and could be a great contributor in the post season.

Stupid to be looking for rentals. A smart GM will build a team that could be great for many years. Giving up great prospects to rent an underperformer like Vlad doesn't make any sense. Typical moronic Mazz type move. Even if Vlad didn't underperform, stupid to sacrifice what could be a run for 10 to 20 years. And the fact that Vlad has been a disappointment is a really bad sign. Why is he declining when he should be getting better? Reminds me of when Mazz wanted Dylan Cease because he had 1 good year. Having only 1 good year or declining at a young age should be a huge warning sign that somehow idiots like Mazz don't understand. He would be the worst GM ever.
