As a local born and raised on Maui, for any tourists watching this video and considering visiting it, all I ask is that you show respect and love towards this beautiful beach as it is one of the more untouched beaches on the island and the locals try hard to keep it preserved and beautiful. Be cautious on the trail and as us locals say: "Malama the Aina"

Thanks so much for sharing....brings back so many memories. Back in 84 while in the Coast Guard a buddy of mine and I backpacked from Lahaina to Hana via Kings Highway hitting all the great places in between. We spent a few days near Red Sand beach and a few at Waianapanapa State Park enjoying the black sand beach.

when you hit that white sign that said dangerous did you go to the right?

Yes, stay to the right of the sign and then the trail turns left when you get close to the water. Just be careful through that section...that seems to be where people tend to slip.

Its really not to bad if you are cautious…just like any hiking trail just be careful and you’ll be fine.

So we went prior to Covid so it may have changed since then but when we went there was nothing but a trail…with very limited parking. I’d maybe look this trail up on the AllTrails app and view some of the latest reviews to see if it has changed.

i almost died trying to get here and was very close to needing to be air lifted. thank you for posting the video so i know what i missed. i preferred the black sand beach we "settled" on going to lol

Nice! It’s truly incredible there. Be careful not to slip as you are walking on the trail...apparently lots of people end up needing rescue after slipping down to the shoreline. We had no issues when we were there though.

what mile marker number should I look for if I wanted to go here bro?!

I can remember the mile marker, once you reach Hana just continue past the main beach in Hana until you get close to the Baseball Fields....once you see the fields it’s easy to find.
