My 1st job after college was aerial acrobat on cruise ships. That's why the tallest buildings around are the financial buildings. The top paying jobs are in finance. I still go back to what Warren Buffett says... long term (15 to 20 years), few financial advisors have beat the S & P 500. Yet, on a 1 million dollar portfolio, you are paying a financial advisor $20k to $25k/year to manage a portfolio that you can do yourself by investing in an index fund.

Yes, my asset manager advised I spread further into mutual funds and crypto Etf and boy am I glad I did. The whole idea is: Don’t get too greedy and also to exit at the right time, so generally I do find having an adviser very helpful, because what Avg. Joe really has time to watch and comprehensively analyse the market.

Money allows you to buy things that make you happy, not worry about bills, and remove obstacles in life that prevent your happiness. I was an assistant to a multimillionaire for a few years. Based on my observations and conversations with them, I do believe money can't buy happiness. It can alleviate some stresses but creates others. Imagine the pressure of achieving a certain level of success then having to maintain it through all the fluctuations within the economy and specific industry. It's tremendously stressful. Plus now you don't know if people like you because of the potential for them to benefit from your wealth and influence or if they really like you for you. There's a lot to it that I wouldn't have understood if I didn't see it up close.

"Lets go back to the basics" - Well, we have no real money in circulation.. We have a Debt Notes and Credit = Debt.. Everything else is meaningless.. Why? Uh, when everything we know changes in ways we can't even begin to grasp and those who were once neighbors or friends begin killing each other over the last can of beans, you can't even compare now to then. Those that have managed to survive the initial wave of utter chaos will begin to slowly starve or die of exposure to the elements, from accidents, fighting or from untreated/ unmedicated illness or from eating/drinking contaminated food/water... No, I don't think the "bottom" that people are familiar with now will bear any resemblance whatsoever to the dystopian horror show of what's coming if things continue down the current path.

It's not difficult, but you have to learn and handle. you should hire a CFP to help you diversify your assets to include ETFs/index funds/mutual funds and stocks of companies with consistent cash flows, rather than betting on penny stocks.

Very correct. You do have a slight possibility of digging yourself out of a hole in this country still (well, maybe that is lost). I grew up freaking dirt poor but really didn’t know it until I left home at 18. I think the key is not to chase a lifestyle with going into debt. Lord knows I did a lot of stupid stuff with money (never really thought anything by my crappy parents) but the little bits I put away each month and the assets I purchased have allowed me to retire when I turned 55 in March. I called up my boss and told him to go F himself because I was in a soul sucking job since last August. I will never be rich, but 10 years ago I decided to not be in debt no matter how bad I wanted something. I have no toys but I sleep well at night. There is no way out of this unless we have a complete reset in my opinion. Our kids and grandkids and so on will be slaves if this continues except for the Ultra rich. For the record, I am an ultra conservative but I have given up hope in the current system of corruption, greed, lawfare, a two party system, and decadence.

I lost over $80k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. It just taught me to be a better investor now that I understand more of what could go wrong. Broadcaster John Chancellor wrote in his book, "Of Peril and Promise" that the value of the Interstate highway system is $21 Trillion, but there is not a market for it that such value could be "realized". In the southwest, there are a few places called "airplane graveyards" that contain 1000's of airplanes that will never be flown again, cost millions to manufacture, and are broken up for parts. Accounting is not as precise as people might think. I don't agree that the gov't gave the people much at all. Now that money is electronic, it should be easier to manage and distribute.

It seems that the more diverse the U.S. population gets, the worse the U.S. economy gets. We immigrate the “poorest of the poor”, who are illiterate in their own language. How is this a recipe for success? Welfare spending is more than military spending. Immigration law needs to be changed from a system of Chain Migration to a system of meritocracy.

The central banks policy may be too intervenionist? Yeah, it might be this time. I get the sense people are waiting for their central banks to simply do 'something about it'. In these ongoing difficult times, increasing a Central Bank's zone of comfort might be good. Instead of 1-3% dead-band, consider increasing the dead-band zone to 0-6%. Having a larger deadband will ease the Central Bank off a bit from fluctuating the interest rate too frequently. Thus having less reliance on that fact.

Today, May 22 2024 is the day the super world wide depression has begun as we will feel it in about 6 months. The fast food restaurants have begun attacking each other to lower prices. This will lead to layoffs in the restaurants and it will snowball to less money in circulation prices will drop! People will lose their jobs and won't have money to pay their debts. Many banks will close. Many companies will go bankrupt. Many things will be dirt cheap, but not many people will have cash to buy it. Credit will no longer be accepted. Nobody will have cash to exchange for gold or silver, so they will also become worthless. It will become much more than just difficult.

The value-worth of the US dollar, now at about 1.6¢ per dollar in purchasing power, will most probably decline another ~50% .... you can SEE this about to happen when one 'actualizes' the impending federal taxes (already publically bantered about) applied to businesses, the rich, and those who are 'productive' to a +GDP. Our congresses, and our central banks, have esssentially LOOTED the US Treasury. Historically, not many nations have ever recovered from such self-LOOTING. Disagree with un non-acceptability of gold and silver .... simply saw or cut them into the appropriate weight/value as needed. Small accurate 'electronic scales' and 'jewlers saws' WILL become very popular.

Borrowing and making someone else pay it back (namely the working class) has been the modis operandi of the banksters. Likewise with printing to "stimulate" the economy where the stimulus money flows into the pockets of bankers through various channels. It's a total fraud. reducing debt is just as important as anything, so if you lose everything, you have a place to live. If you can afford it, gold, silver, crypto, real estate and long-term food stores are the most important. In other words, assets. Yes, my 401(k) has gone up a lot, but inflation is destroying it because it's all valued in dollars.

Why are people in so much debt? Why is the government forced to borrow money? The money people know exactly what’s coming out of bad decisions made by the Federal Reserve. Do you think that repeating the same thing that happened before the Great Depression was going to yield different results? I can’t speak for the super rich, but for working people, we have no choice but to go into debt just to make ends meet. It’s time for some major tax reform, and back to regulation. .I realized that the secret to making a million is saving for a better investment. I always tell myself you don't need that new Maserati or that vacation just yet.
