This one was quite important to me. I shared it with someone recently who was having trouble sleeping for days. But every night she tried to sleep, she'd have the fan on, the TV on listening to pastors and prophets, and right wing political segments. I can't imagine the calming of a mind searching for things to think about. Even further to worry or get angry about. Either way, she was uncomfortable with being alone without all the distractions of the world she surrounded herself in. I doubt she really thought much of Alan Watts being that all her wisdom comes only from and none other than the Bible. Alan Watts must be some kind of devil.
This is literally the least intellectual or spiritual thing Alan Watts ever said. He spoke profoundly on anxieties, the inner spirit, the power of God on the world..... And you happen to choose the one topic that a bunch of drugged out losers chant at EDM festivals.... Do some research on him, because Mr. Watts changed the world with his prophetic teachings
@@doreekaplan2589 Why would that matter when the words spoke is true and still after all this time true and long from now when this conversation is fading away it will still be true.
Is that what you believe for all animals and bugs? If so then why does even God declare them less if everything has a spirit. Seems messed up to create something with a deliberate intention to make it less than or less capable than other beings?
@@justsomeguy859 You have the free will to surrender to the world as your tyrant. People who think that they are bodies think like that. Why? So they won't have to experience the guilt that goes with the mistakes we make by making the wrong choices with our will.. We come to peace when we forgive others for what they never did to you.
As Alan puts it.. We are a "peopling" on this rock, the same way in which a field flowers or a tree blossoms, rocks in space, given enough time and in the right conditions, will people.
Ive spent many of hours listening to full lectures of this magnificent specimen of a mind ....this short does him NO JUSTICE....but somehow he can convey such a deep thought in a small phrase!!!
By the same token, one might say, " I came in through this world, experienced life as I understand thus far, and will inevitably leave that life as I will have known it.
There's so much wisdom in his words. He shaped my life since the early 80's and still does. If you set aside your ego... you might see miracles happening...
My belief system summed up perfectly. We’re simply never ending, dying is just changing form. Or using Alan’s metafor; We’re returning to the tree. ♾️🍃
We are all drops of water that came from the same ocean, and we will all return to the same ocean. We are all currently falling raindrops that evaporated from the ocean, separated for a moment, and will later be reunited back into the ocean. We are all one. Several religions back this theory up.
Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
I wonder if after death, we have a choice as to whether we reincarnate or not ! I understand that if we have lived very badly then we probably won't get to decide, but otherwise if we've had a fairly normal life and know where we have gone wrong and regret any bad things we did in life, if we then get to decide ! Personally I would choose to not go through it all again, it's been too difficult. Not that I am not grateful but there is so much suffering in life. Does anyone have an opinion or any knowledge on this ??
@@thelyricologist9568 One? I don’t think I’m alone. I don’t think you’re going to find to many people that accept your claim that you’re eternal and immortal.
@@justsomeguy859 Well I don't know if You're one or not, and frankly, I don't care. It wouldn't make any sensie for me to explain to you that all of us are eternal. But if you think otherwise - it's your right and your problem. Just don't tell other people what they should think/believe/know.
There's a table that I picture Alan Watts, Carl Sagan, and others sitting at in a painting. But I wouldn't want to mention more names after that because they deserve to be well thought out. Maybe Bruce Lee too?
I think the obvious is that we are products of the earth. In turn what we create/secrete are also products/byproducts of this world. If what we create or secreted produces anything it too is a product of this world.
If you get technical about it, the actual way it should be said is ( I came out into the world its not a good comparison to a leaf and a tree because a leaf grows out side and a human grows on the inside
He is right 😊 In Quran, CREATOR says: Among his signs is that You see the Earth devoide of life, but as soon as We spent down rain upon it, it begins to stire 'to life' and swell. And this is sign from CREATOR to who think about his creation and all things with all intelligence GOD gave to him. So CREATOR also mentioned that He will give life to all Mankind on the judgment day and every human will have same finger prints and he will do it like Earth grows yields and trees give fruit after rain and it is very easy for CREATOR to do it 😊
@@mixedmartialoddest I didn't say that it was... I said maybe you need to shift yours if Alan Watts makes you depressed because he does the opposite for many many people
@mixedmartialoddest the things he talks about are not inherently depressing so I'm saying the problem is not what Alan Watts says, the thing making you depressed is your process of understand him
