Ice fishing on one of Maine's Blue Ribbon Trout Waters. Highly restricted ice fishing lake. Lobster Lake in Northern Maine.
2 line limit, dead bait only, only open for 1 month to the lowly ice fishermen like me.
We struggled to finally make it into the lake. We made it in after 2 days of trying.

Fished the Moosehead region hard for thirty five years and had some spectacular fishing on Lobstah. I think of my friends Pat Murphy and David Tarr when in think of Lobster. RIP guys

Fished Lobster a few times when I was a teenager rode across it on sleds a bunch. Seemed like it was always slushy, sketcher than Moosehead I always thought.

Never ice fished Lobster. Been in June several times , one line per person then , artificial only. Caught some big togue near where you were in the little claw.80’ of water.

Misty Morning is a good outfit. Some good ice fishing within 3 miles of the cabins. Course you’re likely to catch fish anywhere in that neck of the woods. Good luck

Had my boat in the water yesterday and got slammed with snow lol but also went thru 6 dozen minnows I bet we got over 100 but only kept 10 I never keep more than I can eat weird huh lol

What is your average snowfall? They generally have over 100” a season and sometimes over 4’ of snowpack.

On warmer days or under certain sun conditions the surface snow melts and the resulting water settles down through the snow on top of the ice causing a slush layer. A good cold snap will freeze it back up. Remember Joe was outside in just a T-shirt on a previous episode.
