Great review, and nailed all the highlights and issues. I tested this pad out , as part of a work outing, in below freezing temps in Coloroado back in 2022 and was very surprised at how well it performed.

I just picked up this pad. The price is now 160 dollars without being on sale, which makes it a great deal in my opinion!

Great gear review, as always. Can't wait to see that Decathlon tent review, as well as that Decathlon down sleeping bag! They must be featured in future videos, right?

I have the 3R and really like it. I sleep on the warmer side and have taken it down to almost freezing with no issues.

Regarding comfort. I compared the Exped with the STS Etherlight and find the Exped to be more comfortable. I think I just like vertical baffles with a raised edge - helps keeping my arms on the pad. For 3 Seasons use, I choose the Exped Ultra 3R MW in Combination with an Alpkit EZ Sleeper (to my knowledge the lightest and thinnest folding closed cell foam sleeping mat). The foam mat boost the R-Value a little bit and protects the delicate Exped Mat. During the day I use it as a sit pad or as a ground cover for a little siesta and stretching at camp. Together 765g - not ultra light, but this is made up for by the multi-purpose use.

Exped make outstanding gear fantastic bang for buck for weight for quality. I also have the 3R mummy, small and lightweight, minimal though

How about flipping the pad over, of you do not like the valves being on the bottom? 😅

Mine had leaks - just bought the 7R as a fallback (wishing I had just bought it to begin with...)

Justin - will you be taking another look at the new Nemo Tensor Extreme Conditions pad? I know you already featured it in another video and results were underwhelming, but I'd love to see a more detailed review (a second chance). I want to love it but right now there isn't much online that help.

Keep an eye out on the main channel for more thoughts on it. A specific review video and then a comparison video to the xtherm will be coming out in the new year.

No discomfort atall with it. Reason I got it was because it wont slide along the tent floor.

I'm leery of Exped pads after I had two Synmat Hyperlites fail on me. They were super comfortable, but not reliable. I've had my Thermarest pads for twice as long and no issues.
@GearPriority
@GearPriority 8 месяцев назад
How long ago was that? I also had issues with Exped pads made 5-10 years ago but we are a couple generations away from those pads.
@hikingwheather

@@GearPriority I think it was 2015/2016 that I purchased two of them. One had a chamber blow out and Exped replaced it at no cost since it had become a known issue. The other one sprung a leak and I patched it good, but it still slowly leaked after that. Too bad because it was very light and comfortable. I would trade a measure of comfort for reliability any day.

Everybody pile on. @ 0:54. It's CONDUCTIVE heat loss, not CONVECTIVE that the pads are minimizing. The pad prevents the ground from heat sinking your body heat by keeping you separated from it by an insulated space. CONVECTIVE is heat loss by the surrounding fluid (air). That's what your sleeping bag or quilt insulates you from.

Don´t know were you got 444 grams from...🤔 Mine weigh in at 580 grams and expeds own claim is 585 grams.

Exped doesn't always check the lightest box, but they tend to be prefered for people that have tested a wide range of pads.
