We absolutely love when we come across some intense diesel cars or trucks, and this one definitely falls into that category. The vehicle itself is a very unique candidate to put such a high powered diesel motor into. On top of that, you’ve got massive tires in the back and the turbo sticking out of the front to let everyone else know it means business! The shocker on top of that is that it’s about twice as intense as you think even after seeing those things! One of our cameramen, Matt, even says himself in this video, “Oh my God, that thing is violent”. Matt has seen a lot of stuff in his day, so we knew we were in for a treat! Though this diesel monster didn’t have any great passes, we still absolutely loved watching this thing! What do you guys think?

tq output tells you nothing of what it can pull or how fast it would go. its simple physics which i assume most car people understood. 10,000lbs of tq would do shit if it only produced 10hp, while 400lbs of tq could rip a tree out of the ground if it made 5000hp what im saying is, HP is energy. you need energy to pull a house down or go fast. There is no thing called Tq/weight ratio is racing of any kind. because it gives no indication of performance. hp/weight does

Frank Columbo as a kid in the 80s I remember the sound of those diesel tractors and it had to be up there in rpm but I never knew stats. I do recall like 4 turbos and in retro I am guessing it was around 5k when they really started spooling. You would think they were in the power but there was a couple/few more thousand rpm left! Good comment. I probably would have never put that together as an adult. 🤘🏼

Even though this video is 7 months old I'm still glad to see Wagler Competition get recognized. I grew up about 10 miles from where that shop sits now and I can say the owner, Jeremy, is always busy working on something slightly crazy and different. Props to this truck as well it hauls ass!

7500rpm Dmax, wow that is crazy. Factory redline is like 3200 which is already high for a diesel. My class 8’s are rev limited at 2000rpm.

Remember that is a SHORT STROKE duramax! Wagler is testing some new parts now that should safely go 8500 to 9000 in a short stroke! Those guys are beyond insane!!!

1320, you guys should have put 7500 rpm in the title, that is absolutely incredible. Massive respect to the guys who put this together. Aside from the short block destroker kit, valvetrain mods, etc, injector duty cycle at 7500 rpm, I'm amazed the injectors can get any fuel into the chambers in that tiny window of time.

They over fuel these motors because of how competitive these classes in drag and sled pulling can be. You’d rather add more fuel then you need than risk not having that extra little bit of add to get that extra tenth or couple of inches to get that win

@@boozepunch Nah, the more fuel in a diesel, the hotter they get. That is why monitoring exhaust temps is vital. Smoke is because they are tuned for as much power as possible at peak boost. Notice during the burnout once the turbo spools the smoke stops because all fuel is being burned. Pulling down the track increases load on the engine, less efficiency, more smoke.

As an ASE Certified Diesel Technician, I find it my duty to inform you that the presence of black smoke indicates you have a cracked, or missing DPF. My manual also indicates that you may have a slight overfueling issue.
