Motorhead stayed on a roll from 2002-2015. Kiss of Death is amazing and has some great gems like "God Was Never On Your Side" and "Sword of Glory." Mikkey said it best on this interview that it's a wide album. There is punk, metal, ballads, blues and rock n' roll and it's cohesive.
3 great albums back to back...Inferno, Kiss of Death and Motorizer. I thought Hammered was kinda weak. But they've never put out 2 weak records in a row, and they always follow a weak one with a killer. These guys eat, drink, sleep, and shit rock n roll. And you can hear it in their music. All the other old rock gods have become a joke, a shell of their former glory. But not Motorhead! 35 years and still kicking ass.
I concur on the albums. I concur with everything you said apart from one thing, actually. I feel that Iron Maiden have also maintained their integrity as an artistic vehicle. (Disclaimer: Motörhead is my favourite musical outfit)
Philthy was bad (not that bad however) when he came back in 1987, however from 1975 to 1984 he was amazing, he pioneered the double bass style (or at least helped to) and generally kicked arse.
ALOT of people really didn't like Hammered, i thought it was a great album, i thought it was one of their best, alot people really hated Another Perfect Day when it first came out, i think Hammered is one that grows on ya
Get over the fact that the other guys aren't in the band anymore ! This line up has consistantly delivered for over 12 years ... full of vigar and vitality etc Q there is a reason why the other guys aren't in the band anymore .... some people will be asking for Brian Robertson and Lucas Fox back at this rate !!!! All line ups were good ... this one is too ... and has had more longevity !
it depends on what part of rock your looking at. the blues started in the american south, and blues is like the grandpa of rock, but then all the british bands (motorhead, sabbath, zepplin, the who etc.) made it rock
Motorhead got better with age in a way to me. Living In The Past, Sword of Glory ,etc. This CD, The World Is Yours, Inferno and Aftershock are as overlooked as any cd for their sheer greatness. If you hate his voice and won't give him the time of day then "Fuck off!"
Philthy was better than mikkey back in the day, but when he rejoined from like 1987-92 or whatever he wasn't as good and they had to play shorter sets, so mikkeys the man, and a fucking amazing drummer too
