Porky was the one who was always acting like a jerk to Ness. Ness didn't tell him to join the Happy-Happyists, or to usurp Geldegarde Monotoli. That was all Porky.

@@TheBanishedWind I totally forgot about this comment lol Yeah I know, but porky was a mess though. Don't forget that this poor boy was beaten on the regular from his monstrous parents, it's not a new thing to see damaged hearts act out from their suffering. Hence my comment, having only evil things for company will definitely convince a lot people in those circumstances that it is normal. He joined the happy cult because of jealousy of Ness making new friends, it was then when he was preyed upon by the manimani statue that nurtured and amplified the pain and darkness in his heart. He was suffering from the start, but Ness was his escape from a lot of it until that fateful moment of separation. There's a certain point of despair and desperation that people can take before completely succumbing to it. I truly believe that if porky never came into contact with the statue he could have changed but In the end everyone became victims of giygas, not everyone was saved either. The mother series are truly bittersweet, it's a haunting comparison to reality.

@@Mestephra On top of that, it was made by Nintendo. The company known for being kid friendly and all of that. Just like the Kirby series, the Mother series has deep, dark, and sad lore.

Oersted (Live-A-Live), Porky(Mother), Faize(Star Ocean), Dr. Wily (Megaman), and many others, all villains that share one universal trait, abandonment/neglect from their so called "best friends" that turns them down a very tragic road. All of them fighting on the side of good and becoming the "ultimate evil" that the player must put down. These are the memorable villains that won't be forgotten anytime soon because their stories are deeply relatable. Who's to say any one of us wouldn't go down that same path if put through what we witnessed them struggle with?
