Mother Disagrees With Bride's Idea Of Dream Wedding Dress Silhouette | Say Yes To The Dress 

Mum says she lacks confidence, I wonder why? Maybe because her choices are constantly undermined.

The only thing she actually noted about liking the first dress was the silhouette. They could have shown her one of the hundreds that are fish tail with a poofy bottom so that she had both aspects. I'm just gonna assume there weren't any in her price rance... because I think the prom dress thing is going to happen again.

This is just all wrong. Either she can't make up her mind or Mom has eternal power over her. She's beautiful in whatever dress she wanted, but I can't help but feel sad for her.

They could have shown her another dress with the similar silhouette.

Her sister is the best. "Rebecca, remember the prom dress...". I'm glad her sister is there to pushback on their mom a little.

The mom even said "I know this is your dream dress." How can you know that and still talk her out of it? I just don't think very highly of the mothers that do that.

U can see from the start that her 2 siblings are enthusiastically trying to show full support of her dream dress vision. I think they secretly knew their mom would win over the bride in the end. The small sister is such a mood. I also feel like crying when she said she love the lace dress AFTER she said she hated it when she was alone with the consultant.

Its hard to admit, as I love fishtail, but this time she looked amazing in ballgown. It wasn't this typical cupcake dress, but lovely, delicate shape. She made the decision based on her sister crying and mom's pressure.

Show her a similar dress without the lace since she didn't like lace.

How terrible that the mother says I have to say yes to the dress. Sounds like she did the same with prom dress.

This felt more like a guilt trip from the mom to me. The one sister already said that this exact thing happened with the prom dress, and that happening may have the mom realizing she can guilt trip again. Unfortunately.

2nd dress was gorgeous on her.. it's too bad her mom couldn't support her daughters true desire.

She definitely should have gone with the second dress. It was HER dream dress and her mother ruined it. The mom shouldn't have a say in the style. It doesn't matter if she is paying for it. It should be the brides choice.

The mums sentence "I'M hoping that WE'RE going to pick a dress that I like" is just wrong on all levels. It should always and only be "I'm hoping the bride is picking a dress that she likes".

I dont like when mothers insist on getting something they like because they are paying

The bride has an inverted triangle body shape and the princess style gown looked fantastic on her. The one she chose actually accentuated her inverted triangle shape further. Moms should stop thrusting their own likes and dislikes on their daughters, just because they are paying. It is supposed to be a loving gift, right? Not the right to hold your daughter ransom.

It's been going on for so long now that she doesn't trust her instincts Or vision anymore. Whatever mom pictures she pictures and feels it's the best for her. I feel so bad for her and her sisters💔

The mom should wear the dress herself that she wants for her daughter. Don't let the mom pay....pay yourself and decide yourself.

Ultimately its her choice but she looked gorgeous in the ballgown...felt the same way as the little girl..lolz

I hate this mother: "I am happy she loves the dress as much as I do". She doesn't, but was forced into it. It is clear she wanted the 2nd dress, but the Witch of Eastwick had to have her way. No. Mommy is not right. She just wants to marry again through you.

OK, we've had two days/three brides on SYTTD England and all three dresses were at/under budget!! So unlike David Emmanuel's shop policy if ask for the budget then ignore it! All the brides looked beautiful though.

Ball dress was stunning on her! I think Mom’s influence swayed her toward the fitted gown, but as long as the bride was happy that is all that matters!

I'm glad I listened to my mom about my dress, because I would have gone with a ball gown, but in this case, the ball gown looked so much better. She looked happier. She was just trying to please her mom because she's paying, and I think that's heartbreaking.

I loved the consultant for everything she did. Except for one thing,she could have shown few more fitted dresses. More like a trumpet style dress.

History definitely repeated itself!!! Her Mom picked her prom dress. Now her Mom picked her wedding dress. Just like she didn't like her prom dress, the same thing will happen with her wedding dress, she is going to say I don't like it. Mom is fixated with a fitted dress and then says I am paying for the dress. So the bride probably felt she didn't have a choice. Mom should of stepped back and let the bride pick her own dress even though she is paying for it. Smh

I think we've got it all wrong when it comes to the role of the person paying for the dress. If you pay for the dress, that is a gift. It is not an agreement that carries the condition that you get to have a say in what the decision will be. To offer a gift this way is so controlling and it keeps the receiver, especially an adult daughter as in this case, in a subservient position when what is really hoped for is that this is now a functioning adult capable of making their own decisions.

Try on many dresses to figure out your style. I like the ballroom dress on her.

I think the dress showed off that she just had a baby. Should have picked the second dress.

To be honest I liked the ballgown on her. She should have tried on another fitted gown without the lace, mother's are not always right you know 😌😌

I remember my mom wanted me to buy a prom dress I absolutely hated. I tried on one I absolutely loved but was more expensive. I think my dad had a hand in it, but they ended up buying for me the dress I loved. Mom and I also butted heads on my wedding dress. She wanted my dress to be lace. I didn’t. I ended up not buying the dress fabric for it while I was visiting her in California. I bought the fabric while I was visiting my dad and step mom in Nevada. I found a beautiful off white moire fabric for my wedding dress. Simple but timeless.

Lovely Bride & beautiful spirit.. but I'm of the mindset a "gift" should not have strings attached . I would've liked to have more gowns offered unless it was edited out of show. She was exactly right about it the first time! It didn't look good on her at all? The belly bulge and the lace definitely were not for her? She'll regret it just like she did her Prom dress... Moms are very cruel when it comes to getting what they want on their Daughter's wedding day! They're willing to crush their daughter's dreams/vision to get what they want and even more so if they're paying for the dress and they always seem to forget that they're not the ones getting married and would never admit it but are more concerned about what the guests think than what the Bride and Groom think? Have to impress those friends and family you don't even really like... In fairness, not all moms are like that BUT many many are.

This is another prime example of a mother trying to live vicariously through her daughter by putting her in dresses the mother likes so she can imagine herself in them. So selfish. Let brides have their day!

Oh, this mother is coming off so manipulative. She didn’t look comfortable in the first dress. She only changed her mind because mom was crying. But her initial reaction to the ball gown was her true feelings. Regardless, she’s beautiful!

Normally brides who cave to their Mum obviously don’t really love the dress. But she had really strong opinions of why she liked it so I really think she did choose the dress she wanted.

It’s disgusting when the person paying uses that “gift” to bully their opinion on the bride.

The dress her mother chose does look lovely on Rebecca and shows off her figure. But why would her mother be paying for her wedding dress? She's an adult with two children. She really should pay for her own dress. What the bridal shop staff don't say in these videos that the Veils add about £200 extra to the cost of the outfit. I don't know if the brides don't factor that in or they have an auxiliary budget for the veil, jewellery and shoes.
