Someone on tiktok asked why we couldn't hear an infant crying in "The Underworld" and another replied "why would Astyanax cry when he's back in the arms of his father?" Big oof.
Oh yeah, since his corpse was buried (I assume this if Astynax body even survive the impact intact) was allowed to cross the River I guess. Got to met his father.
I always took the line "there's a world where I help you get home, but that's not a world I know" to mean that Jorge is letting us know he acknowledges that in the original story, the prophet does tell him how to get home. But that's another world/universe, it is not this one.
I never thought of that, although the best part about everything the prophet is saying has multiple different but accurate meanings. Like it could be referring to past events, future events or both. So I'm going to believe that this is one of the correct interpretations :)
Yeah and apparently when she was recording her part, they had to do so many takes, because she kept on having to stop becsuse she would start to breaking down and bawling instantly, because she kept on thinking about what will happen when she isnt around anymore and also on how she wouldn't be able to support her sons dreams and accomplishments and to support him throught it all instantly she would end up bawling hysterically every single time she's like "I never thought about it before until this exact moment when I started singing this part". If this part wasn't already a gut punch when we found out it's his actual mother now it's a super gut punch like almost Soul snatching when you find out this part
And now his dad performed in the Wisdom Saga! I love when creators bring in their parents. Like in the Magnus Archives and them bringing in Jonny's parents. Lol
Jorge said that the voices of the souls speak the last thing on their mind before they died. The crew died thinking about how their captain betrayed them. Polities died still thinking about what's good in the world. His mother died thinking about his return. The prophet is voiced by Mason Olshavsky but yes they sound very similar. Also another fun fact, Odysseus's mother is voiced by Jorge's real mother 💔
What always devastates me the most is that the singer for Odysseus mom in the underworld is Jorge Rivera's actual mom. And I don't know where she said it, but she explained that the day recording her lines for The Underworld she thought for the first time in her life how someday her son will outlive her 💔
The guy who died falling from Circe's roof, Elpenor, actually has a cut song. You can find a demo of it on RU-vid I believe, if you wanna hear what would've been sung for him
@@sup3rhyp3r56I remember only seeing that after my 3rd watching of it. The Gigi and the other animators are just brilliant. Each one adds little details that add so much.
"i died, and nobody noticed 😔, i died, and nobody cared☹." "elpenor, when did you meet your despair??😕" "i drank wine from a chalice, on top of circes palace, and fell and broke my neck." idr the rest LOL
I loooove your EPIC reactions so much, they are my favorites out of all of them. It's so nice to see someone who actually knows the poem and understands what he's reacting to without mixing everything up or forgetting all of the previous sagas ❤ the way you keep attention to the details is so nice to see and your opinion and explanations are so interesting!!!! Thank you! Please keep it up, Sir. Greetings from Germany :)
8:24 - Elpenor! Jorge originally included him, but thought his verse came off a bit ... accidentally light-hearted so ended up cutting it, but he's posted what it would have sounded like
Man, what a way to close act 1. Were this live in theatre I would struggle to get up for the intermission and just wouldn't be able to speak a word to anybody LOL I always look forward to your reactions though!
Your reactions are so heartfelt and genuine. After you get caught up, I would love to see you react to some of the animatics. Jorge had input on some of them so you really get a better idea of his vision.
Yes! I've been waiting for this saga! Your reactions always make my day. Not only is The Underworld my favorite saga, I really wanted to see your reaction to Odysseus's mother appearing and you didn't disappoint! That first "Waiting..." and your face said "oh, no; I know who this is". I love all the musical callbacks in The Underworld (song) - every one of them just hits so perfectly. I love that you know the poem and can give us explanations of things - it's absolutely enhancing my enjoyment of the musical. And I absolutely adore that you are doing a musical listen though first - it give such a pure reaction that the animatics can only make better. :) (And as somebody else pointed out - that final chord and then 'house lights on for intermission' would be such a power move.)
It’s funny cause No Longer You makes so much more sense after the fact. But Jorge does an amazing job keeping it vague cause that’s what prophecies are sometimes. Confusing and come true in the weirdest way
I love No Longer You, it's so lyrically brilliant for the double meanings on everything and the singer (Mason Olshavsky i think is how you spell it) making it beautifully haunting
There's a reason I call this saga "Emotional Damage: The Musical." The first time I heard it I had to pause after Odysseus said "I took too long" because I got so choked up
Fun facts time- The choir behind the prophet were actually singing hints of what would happen in Act 2 Elpenor (broken neck guy) had a larger part to play in the rough draft of the musical. He had his own song, and other parts in different songs. Now there’s the Easter Egg of miscounting the men when it came to how many had died. Forgotten, just like in the poem.
as a person that watched the underworld saga. it hit home. i lost my grandmother while being in a different country. so when i first saw the underworld i cried for the first time while watching a video. so that was an expirience
So the spirits, because they have to be spirits, because he is not a God, he can not conjure up vocals like the gods can since he is still a human. That means by the law of this musical or what people say is the law and dynamic is that the choir still has to be humans or spirits around him singing the choir part to have a backup choir or voice singing if that makes since. The spirits around him are singing as the backup choir for the prophet. The spirits are chanting, "Sirens Song" "Scylla throat" "Mutiny" "Lightning Bolt" "Whirlpool, Poseidon" "Kill all the Suitors for Love" "Ody" "sseus" "Ody" "sseus" The first four chants have been confirmed by Jorge himself, the last 6 is my guess, due to the fact that in one of the animatics it has subtitles that came from the actual lyrics off of the official album on Spotify and that's what they say it is. I'm guessing that's what it is because it's supposed to be the official lyrics on there so that's what I think the last six chants are.
"I see past and future running free" Tyresias' prophecy talks about the past and the future of the plot all at once, on each sentence. He sees past and future all mixed up so every sentence has double meaning. I love "No Longer you because of that complexity. Also, the final chorus-SPOILER: Reveals the four songs of the next saga: Sirens' song-Scylla's throat-Mutiny-Lightning bolt
Interesting fact that could be slight spoilers for the next saga but is also really interesting: Most of the things Tirisias said in the chorus are about what's gonna happen in the thunder saga
Hear the coro in the back in: 15:16 They say: "SIREN SONG, SCILLA (idk), MUTINY, THUNDER BRINGER, FIGHT PO-SEI-DON, KILL ALL THE SAILORS FOR LOVE" It's a cool detail .v.
The best part of the first track, as long as i'm not mistaken, is Odysseus' mother is sung by Jorge's actual mother as well, so it just adds another little level to the feels and it sounds so good. My favorite part of the Underworld Saga.
🎉🎉 Let’s gooooo down in the underworld we travel. I’m so hype you’re so close to my #1 Saga Thunder Saga just slaps your bloody socks off. You planning on doing a separate binge watch of the Animatics at all? See artists different interpretations of the scenes?
@@ali4games10 I’m a little disappointed we are getting a seven in one stream since I am too excited to wait for the new saga, but I’m glad he’s leaving up the stream.
What gets me every time when listening to Underworld is the fact that Jorge's mom sings as Odysseus's mom. It's so beautiful, I can only imagine how meaningful and emotional it was to record that with his mom. A really nice touch
Man I need to stop forgetting to have tissue nearby when I listen to these songs and people's reactions... Also note, Posiedon said 43 left, and the underworld said 558 dead. The forgotten soldier was a deleted scene (how appropriate), but the math remains in the final.
Remember about what Tiresias is singing about: he's a prophet. All of what he's singing about is about the future, not the past. "A song of past romance" Ody talking about his love for Penelope, no prizes for guessing when that happens. "The sacrifice of man" Well... "light up six torches" comes to mind (you'll see). "Portrayals of betrayal" Thunder Saga song 4. "A brother's final stand" Thunder Saga song 5, remember who is whose brother in law (many animatics turn this moment truly heart-rending).
Wisdom saga spoilers ahead ⚠️ I'd like to point out that at this point it really seems as Ody looks at Athena as only a mentor and no longer a friend And in the wisdom saga it seems like Athena now views Ody as mainly a friend so it's a bit ironic
If you’ve not heard the thunder saga yet this comment is 100% going to be a spoiler so DO NOT READ FURTHER Holy fuck hearing the prophet again i think “i see portrayals of betrayals and a brothers final stand” might mean when eurilicus and the surviving crew are begging him to chose them over himself (the brothers final stand) and the betrayal being odysseys choosing his own life.
