I love this version. My granddaughter did it 2 years ago. Mother Ginger is on stilts and during rehearsal she got stepped on while under the skirt. Ouch ! But fortunately no serious foot injury. She didn't miss a performance.
Along with the Spanish dance and the Waltz of the Flowers, this is one of the few parts of the ballet that is one hundred percent guaranteed to be joyful and upbeat!
Ok, so....hear me out..... A Halloween-themed version of The Nutcracker. Same music. Mostly same choreography. But different plot. Clara dresswe as a zombie brise Persephone, going trick or treating. Her Uncle Drosselmyer, maybe costumed as a one-eyed pirate, maybe a one-eyed drag queen, who cares? Puts a Nutcracker in her bucket. The other kids shun jer because she's dressed "scary," while they're all dressed "cute." She falls asleep in a graveyard. The battle we're familiar with takes place but the tombstones grow huge, to symbolize Clara shrinking. The Nutcracker Prince is handsomely skeletal and devilishly handsome. He takes her to the Underworld, but it's a happy joyful place. The Rat King is now the Bat King. The Snowflake dance would be the Autumn Leaves dance. The Arabian Coffee dance would be several djinn. The Chinese Tea dance would be Chinese dragons. The Spanish Chocolate dance would be Mexican Dia de los Muertos sugar skeletons. The Russian Peppermint dance would be a Baba Yaga solo. The Mother Ginger dance with her clown children would be a Spider Mother with her little spiderling children, descending from the rafters. And the Sugar Plum Fairy would be the Candy Apple Fairy.
@@quentinbarrentine5114 I have access to both and will not do anything of the sort. This sounds like a completely foolish idea and would be a very sloppy ballet. No one wants this to happen because it would look ugly and it’s overall a terrible idea. The Nutcracker is a famous ballet known for miles in every direction for being graceful and heartfelt and you completely changed everything! I can’t even believe you. And I say all this as a pre professional dancer who is studio trained so don’t even try to use that as an insult back.
@@goodvibez17 I know his idea is unconventional but that is extremely rude. His idea is creative and it’s just fun to imagine it. I say this as a pit orchestra musician who has played the Nutcracker ballet for years. Try to keep your hurtful opinions to yourself next time. Merry Christmas
Im a pollichinelle this year and it's super fun! The only thing is I don't have the actual same exact experience as these adorable peeps cuz at my studio if it's ur first year in ensemble u don't get the actual choreography and it's my first year
in the balanchine version of the nutcracker (and i’m sure some other versions, too), kids are used as the main roles. there are also versions where clara’s a kid and the nutcracker prince is an adult (so there’s no romantic stuff between them), versions where the adult nutcracker prince turns into the snow king, etc. there are so many different productions lol
we did skipping with our partners, balances and then cartwheels. i don't remember much more. That was about 35 years ago for me! We were not highly technical.
Awww My daughter (also an avid Roblox player) danced to this song in The Nutcracker last weekend and it was absolutely magical. She was also nervous, but she had so much fun. I have faith that your performance will be just as wonderful. Get out there and dance your heart out! ❤
i’m so scared to do this cause of the skirt. panicking cause i’ve got my first rehearsal today when the skirt is actually there and i hope i’m able to actually get out from under the skirt and also manage to get back in.
This is okay but nothing near as fun as the version we did when I was little. My teacher picked the smallest of the classes. They emerged from the skirt in pairs. Mind you these students were so small they could barely really dance, so all they really did was come out and twirl. And at the end they circled the stage running and running round and round then diving back inside the skirt. The last child was usually the tiniest. She would continue running until the absolute last note of the music when she would dive underneath. Always got huge Applause.
I see so many different version of this. Over 30 years ago, my studio (not a strict training school at all) got to do smal parts when the professional company came to town. The smallest ones of us who could also do cartwheels got to be marshmallows. The extent of the dancing was skipping, balances, and then the cartwheels. The best jumper of the group got to be that last girls because she did some sautes while blowing kisses to the audience while the rest of us returned to Mother Ginger. I don't know why I remember so well. I guess because I was so young and it was the biggest performance I had been a part of - probably still is to this day.
studio always had one of the dance dads shave their legs and put on heels to have one of the older girls on his shoulders. I was one of the clowns, best show ever 😂
Same! My dance studio cast me as a soldier and a bon bon! Bon bons are this part at our studio. We run out from mother ginger and everything and we have a bon bon lead (a more experienced dancer who has been en pointe for at least a year) and it’s fantastic! We’re also performing on Christmas Eve and I’m so excited for our other five performances!
