Mother hen talking to chicks 

I must have the best job in the world. These little chicks are the latest addition to my job though the hen is doing such a good job she leaves me with very little to do.
There are two black Orpington chicks, one brown Orpington and a mix breed we have no clue on. They were hatched in a small incubator and then given to the hen a day later who took them under her wing right away. At the time of the video they are just 4 days old.

For those that have asked, Lacy, the mother hen here, is still very much alive...Nine years after this video was recorded: • Mother hen, nine years...
Update 2: Today, 22nd of October 2021, we say goodbye to Lacy who passed peacefully while warming herself in the autumn sun. Her children, grand children and all future generations continue to thrive around her.
