Mother Mary Assumpta Long, O.P. was the Prioress General until just recently, and one of four founding members of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She spoke Sept. 21, 2024 at the Diocese of Santa Rosa Religious Education Congress. The Congress has focused on the four pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and this year was devoted to the fourth pillar, Christian Prayer. Her topic was "Lord, You Know All Things, You Know that I Love You," presented on Saturday to the audience of lay catechists and parishioners from many parts of the far flung Diocese.
Cell phone excerpts are presented here. This Congress fit the theme of the California Bishop's new program "Radiate Love." Mother's opening discussion of the word "love" and its 4 Greek terms was followed by her wise and witty thoughts on prayer and love.
Other speakers of the day included Sister Joseph Andrew Bogdanowicz, O.P. and Mr. Ruben Quezada, author of the companion book to the movie starring Andy Garcia, "For Greater Glory."
