Thanks for the beautiful music! And of course your valuable insight on how you process the sound. I have been sharing your channel with my friends and colleagues. I also put your music in my classroom training hen students are taking tests. They love it!
Just getting back into keys in the last year+. Last year when I heard and saw the Reface CP, it was the first keyboard I could think to buy. I haven't regretted it since. Thanks so much for the inspiring sounds.
How do you use the Valhalla Shimmer? Sorry if it seems like a dumb question but I don't know much about it but absolutely love all of what you created here and your other videos. I would love to be able to do half of what you do. Lol. I just bought a Roland Fa-07 last December as I'm just starting out. Thanks for any input.
Valhalla Shimmer is a software reverb effect that I load on a FX channel inside the DAW (FL studio) I'm using on my computer. I use it at around 40-60 wetness level to get the sound I want. It kinda creates this underlaying pad that I like a lot.
Thank you for sharing. Very good ambient texture. And thank you for sharing your notes. I have been noticing the "Valhalla Shimmer" on some good ambient compositions. I may need to research this some, but my own evolving set up.
I really like how the video actually shows you playing the music and messing around with the settings instead of having generic fake footage... nice touch :D
This is meditative ;)...I also love to do sessions like this on my CP and MS-20 :),...it is the closest one can come to the source of the universe,...creativity is love,..and love is everything,..Thanks for shareing
I love this! Question: I would love to start learning how to create this specific kind of music (Vangelis-y ambient) but I have zero experience and no idea where to start (other than a lot of you guys seem to use Moog Mother 32s). Any chance of some beginner gear recommendations and tips/pointers. Much obliged!
A mother 32 and a reverb guitar pedal would get you pretty far to start with. That’s my recommendation. If you don’t mind starting digital, you could start with Ableton Live and and a few plugins.
Dont get the Mother 32 as a beginner. At least this wouldnt have fit for me. I started with the Minilogue, some Volca would be the cheapest hardware to begin with.
Awesome as always. Do you use Shimmer on the background pads as well? Can you tell me how you do the background stuff? Low/mids/highs etc? It's really well done
Thanks Mike! The background was made with 2 pads samples from a old sample collection called Distorted Reality 1. I think those samples are included with Omnisphere now. Anyways, I played a simple synth lead melody on top of those pads with Shimmer. Took that piece of audio and stretched with Paul's Extreme Sound Stretch. I also added two muddy guitar chords to the bg track. Then I just improved the rest on top like you see in the video. M32 and rhodes with Shimmer.
Pure EarCandy. I wish you could do some Paul's Extreme Sound Stretch Masterclass on how to get those lushy pads/Ambient lowfreq sounds. Greetings From Sweden :)
Well... I open up the app and process and save the audio pretty much :D I use the default settings most of the time. Sometimes I make the track 400% slower instead of 800%. If you start with something that already sounds soft and lush and you'll get exactly that! :D
@@RemixSample Any mentions which plugins? I have a boat load of em, but always looking for creative ways to spend needless money. If it's secret sauce, no worries.
Sure. Number one would be Valhalla Shimmer valhalladsp.com/shop/reverb/valhalla-shimmer/ and I like some of the SoundToys plugins. Especially the Crystallizer . That's about it really.
That pad sound? I usually create a chord with a synth like the legend or zebra 2 and process it with Paul's Extreme Sound Stretch. Just use the default settings, hit export and you'll get a lush sounding pad.
@@RemixSample thank you so much! sorry just starting in sound design hahah, any osc you recommend for getting a warm sound at the final result like this one? :)
@@renattonunez517 I would experiment with filtering the sound so it sounds less bright and add reverb like Valhalla Shimmer or Valhalla Supermassive then process it with Paul's Extreme Sound Stretch. Create lots of different clips and experiment until you get something you like. Take advantage of the presets of your synths.
Hi, how come i hear that great shimmer soundscape even before you touch any keys ? Did you prerecord that? And are the mother and the father botch routed trough the valhalla ?
That's a pad I made that is playing in the background. I make these pads by stretching out a piece of audio with Paul's Extreme Sound Stretch. I'm playing the M32 and rhodes over it.
