I've been flying with one for a couple weeks now. Works great. One tip I've got is put vtx power switch on a pot instead of a switch. Avoids accidentally turning off your VTX.

That's impressive. Matek really is pushing the boundaries and you mentioned they are good with customer service and I've really experienced it with really technical questions answered within hours.

I bought this after you reccomanded to get a matek fc on my 7" lrfpv water resistent quad together with the nice vtx you reviewed a while ago, and i truly LOVE it 👍 got everything Only issue i got was to connect s-bus reciever. Did try with different recievers with no luck, but after i set Rx3 and saved 4-5 times it suddently accepted the reciever and after that i don't want to mess with it again 😂 I really really love the vtx swich, i guess this is going to be standard later in 2019

Matek boards usually are good. Except F405 AIO maybe. Probably I should get this board as spare FC for one mine F4 quad with separate ESC's. F7 - so bye bye to signal inversion problems for FrSky receivers and GPS modules. Giving access to USB signal pads is a nice touch. It allow to install external USB connector like Pololu 2586 MicroUSB breakout board on frame in location whatever you want and solve some problems. Like if you wish to put USB connector elsewhere to avoid stressing the board or if you wish to have battery connector cable coming out in rear side of frame and install FC board with battery pads at back when USB connector most likely will become hidden behind FPV camera.

No, the USB breakout is for extending USB port to different location in case your design has fuselage and you want to program FC without taking you design a part...

Um...if you are using an aio it is expected that you are using individual escs. Why have a 4in1 AND pdb built into an FC. It's more weight and bulk for no gain and would be a stupid combination.

I just bought and installed the f4 version, I wish I would’ve seen this first, (5) builds 5” 1 Kiss v1 with the Kiss 24a escs and (4) Matek setups all fly great and equally well

Definitely everything you need on in this one. Hey man. Make a video of how to do leds on these fc, like how to measure the leds for ma. How much ma you can have on 1a or 1.5a or up to 3a. No one has this stuff on RU-vid. Been trying to find out how to measure the ma on these 6 leds sw2612b led strips I got. But found nothing about how to do it. I'm bored since the snow and I'm adding leds to all the quads Haha. Keep up the good work bro

I happen to have 3 Matek boards and few PDB/VTX. All, except F405 mini (this one burned in a heartbeat), are just super duper. No problems. Their layout are just super clean, PCBs are just cut and soldered like... state of the art. Only Holybro and DALRC can compete with quality of Matek. Hovewer what I miss in this FC is a 9V regulator (for VTX). I would rather kick out SD card slot and put 9V regulator. I believe the next era of FCs will have fixed 16 or 32 MB chips and should have 2 regulators on board. This is my personal opinion, but I believe some of you will think the same. @Mesh - what do you think?

They want a 50v cap for 8s because the included cap is only rated for 35v which is too close to the input voltage on 8s. Thats it.

to commpare these f7 fc, some has the f722 and some has the f745,,holybro has f745.. but to commpare the makers like holybro,matek,t-motor and so on ,,wich one is THE 1 to own if you are after long flights with diversity 2 cameras.1 for seeing where your going and the 2nd for pure filming long range.

The only negatives I see are, no 4in1 connector and huge battery tabs that get in the way.

It's for separate escs, not a 4 in 1.

@@maximbezzubenko4150 my point was poorly put sorry. 4 in 1 esc is normally the main power source, so if a 4 in 1 was the main design bais, this wouldn't have a built in pdb, as the 4 in 1 takes care of that. Running this and a 4 in 1 is like (don't think it would actually work as such with out a tinkering) haveing a backup power structure which is obviously a waste of time/weight.

Does anyone know why I am not getting the initalization sound after connecting power to my board? I have a blue led flashing . I hope I didnt fry the 4 in 1 esc or the FC . It was working before , but had to change a couple motor rotations , and after re-solder , I am getting nothing. Sets up ok in INAV , but motors wont arm.

I got a F500 frame for christmas. Is there a reason to get seperate ESCs or is the AIO with ESC the way to go now? Its not a small drone or racing drone which seems to be the target for the AIO.

Do you know if I wire up my holybro GPS module with out battery power will up power on with the usb power from the FC or do I have to have a battery setup first. I know RX2 will power up via usb.

Otherwise a great and quite beginner friendly board, but the micro usb connector is really weak. Mine got hit slightly and while replacing the port, i burned one of the 22k resistors. Got it fixed but its now ugly as hell :D

Well first off, you can put on a switch.. and have one backwards.. Switch and fly backwards, and go pro looks like you flying backwards. common aide for many vids

I get lower CPU utilization on my F405-CTR in iNAV 2.1 RC1 than I do with this F722-SE. Either this so called F7 processor is a step backward, or iNAV's target needs some serious work.

@@KrotowX I hope that it's iNAV's issue, so that there's hope for improvement. Otherwise it's a nice board. I like the layout, the switchable camera (doubt I'll use it on a 5" quad though), the VBAT on/off with an AUX switch might be handy, the VBAT filter does clean up the video nicely, two 4V5 pads so you can power RX and GPS off USB without having to solder two devices to one set of pads is nice. Plenty of UARTS without the lack of inverters issue the F4 has. I love my F405-CTR, and this board is also nice. I was expecting more processing power though. Again...I hope that's a matter of optimzation on iNAV's part. On BetaFlight 3.5.4 it was showing 4% CPU on 8k/8k. Didn't try the faster gyro.

Matek annoy me, they make top notch stuff bot for very specific reasons they never make anything I want to use. For example, I'm not going to use an FC that has big battery tabs that will make my build tricky. They used to not have 4in1 connectors. Amazing features and build quality but, for me, always a fatal flaw.

They make other FCs you know. I have an F722-STD which is basically the same thing without the PDB. Go to their site and look.

@@frasersteen It has great specs, but the lack of an SD card slot hurts it some. Take a look at the Lumenier LUX F7 Ultimate. I'm pretty sure Matek built it, and it uses the F722-SE firmware. It's basically the F722-mini, but full size (30.5mm mounting holes only) and with an SD slot. Very nice.
