Your video is the definition of “happiness.” Nothing is more adorable than a Westie mama w/ her pups.🥰 You and mama raised wonderful pups that make everyday of every owner’s life wonderful! God bless you!❤
I miss both of mine too. It's a very hard dog to put down. I currently have a Scottie, she a nice pup ..but not like the westie. Westie thinks they are human.
Yes apart from soars on my Gromits belly. Don’t know why? Almost constantly on tablets the last two years. Can’t blame any grass, as he’s not on it enough. Changed to Harrington’s dog food and using Coatex vet recommended shampoo two or three times a week.
Westies can have quite finicky digestion. Ours had irritable bowel syndrome when we adopted him and we never really quite conquered it. He ultimately died of it. We kept him on high quality feed, but it was hard. There was never a really right answer. Sometimes the irritable diet / bowels evidence as skin issues, which may be what is happening with your westie. Make sure too when you wash him you use a very gentle, unscented, hypoallergenic shampoo
This is why a pup can't be taken away from Mom for sale...they must be trained by mom...else, you have a very messed up westie. Pups need at least two months with Mom!
Totally agree. We had a rescue westie we adored - gorgeous, show dog quality looks, fun sweet. Very affectionate with us but deeply impaired socially around other dogs. We think he was taken away too young as a pup from his parents and then additionally never socialized around other dogs. He had no idea how to interact around other dogs and was deeply afraid and would attack. He got along fine with cats, and squirrels. One very confused little dog. While funny and sweet around other animals, it was deeply sad we couldn’t train him or let him play naturally around other dogs - tried for years and then gave up, let him be. Very sad and not how it should be. We love him and miss him (passed away about 8 years ago ).
This is true of any dog. And kittens too. They need to be with mom for 8 weeks *at least*. They learn everything they need to know about socializing in those weeks.
My Westie would chase a ball and bring it back and drop it at my feet every time for as long as I would throw it for her. It’s hot here in the south in summer so I have to make her stop. She loves it so much she would run herself to death so I limit her time on the chase for her favorite racquet ball. By the way, I have red and yellow racquet balls. I started her with the yellow ball. She will not chase the red ball now. Has to be the yellow one. They are funny in their ways.
Westies shouldn't be taken away from mom too early. They need bonding with siblings and lessons from mom. All westies want to be alpha. They are high energy. Mom is the only one who teaches them respect. Some breeders don't understand..pups should be given away at 3 months or higher. 7 months is a good age.
How to be around other dogs: no barking, no anxiety, not being dominant.... she is teaching them how to play with other dogs. My Westie was separated from his mum too early: he was scared of other dogs all of his life (14.5 years) and could never play even when he wanted to... all he could do when he finally met some dog he wanted to try and play with was peeing repeatedly any nearby tree, tensing and if planets aligned, sniffing the air. So sad
Little Peludita those little puppies have teeth by that age, mommy wants them to get their own food. But she is teaching them to play, how to act like a Westie.
Toujours les mêmes choses !! Les mêmes gestes !! Les mêmes grognements !!!! Les mêmes mimiques !!!!’ !!!!! On est en guerre et des entres humains ainsi que des enfants!!! meurent!!!!!!
