"King Ghidorah came to us and asked if, for at least one movie, he could be the good guy. Godzilla agreed, citing that he was interested in playing the villain." - Toho
"Godzilla wanted to play a villain again as he was scared of being type cast as the good guy, so we agreed but we knew that audiences would need a long time good guy in the movie to compliment ghidorahs change so we had mothra brought onboard to help with that" -Toho
I believe you guys forgot to mention that when Ghidorah arrives to fight Godzilla, he appears from underground. That combined with the fact that Baragons soul is seen coming out of ‘King Ghidorah’ when he explodes, makes it obvious that after Baragon is killed his soul finds itself inside Ghidorah. I believe the form of king Ghidorah is also only possible when all 3 guardians are reunited
Wow, there are pretty dark ways the titans woke up: -Baragon was woken by a gang -Mothra was woken up by a drowning dog -Ghidorah was woken up by a Suicide attempt -And Godzilla was woken up be the Dead Japanese of WWII
Funny thing is, both King Ghidorah and Yamata no Orochi exist in the MonsterVerse. My guess is that MonsterVerse Orochi's design will be inspired by his appearance in Yamato Takeru/Orochi, the Eight-Headed Dragon and the IDW comic Godzilla: Rage Across Time (as well as Ray Harryhausen's Hydra from Jason and the Argonauts).
@@nicholaslienandjaja1815 A lot of art I've seen online makes Orochi look like a single creature with tendrils or appendages that resemble 8 heads. Knowing that Ghidorah was able to sustain 3 heads from being an Alien, Orochi probably doesn't actually have 8 heads. Seeing a Legendary version of Orochi from Orochi The 8-Headed Dragon or the one from The 3 Treasures would be awesome, but I ain't sure
My head cannon is that Orochi has 7 protrusions/spikes on his shoulders that he puts the heads of Titans he kills onto, and that’s why ancient humans thought he had 8 heads
Not gonna lie, I would have perfered to see Anguris, Varan, and Baragon fight Godzilla instead, but as a twist, when all 3 died their souls would combine to form the GMK version of Ghidorah (the explanation being that the 3 monsters were once severed heads of Orochi who took on lives of their own before being sealed away) this Orochi Ghidorah would then proceed to battle Godzilla, with Ghidorah having a slight edge, eventually with the combined efforts of Ghidorah, the military, and maybe the spirits of the people Godzilla killed, he would finally be defeated being sent to a watery grave or sealed away similar to how the guardian kaiju were, it would end with Ghidorah splitting back into the 3 kaiju as they were finally allowed to rest in peace
That sounds like a cool idea, only thing I would add would be to add that there were other monsters that would form the rest of the orochi that had died throughout history
@@pcu9284 it would be implied that these 3 guardian monsters were the last living remnants of orochi, perhaps they were too strong to kill unlike the others, and thus had to be sealed instead
@@foundationsoversight8479 I don't think there would be room, we already have 5 monsters in total (Godzilla, Baragon, Varan, Anguirus, Ghidorah) I don't think we need mothra
I personally kind of like the idea of a Terran Ghidorah that seeks to defend our planet rather than destroy it like his evil counterparts. But obviously this one would be a separate entity from the more infamous King Ghidorah that wants to destroy our world.
The Millennium era has some of my favorite kaiju designs ever, with only a few mediocre exceptions. I personally love GMK ghidorah, though he's not my favorite and it's neat how KOTM references his icy lair, mythological origins and battle with Godzilla in the city at night.
The thing I like about Ghidorah's origins across the 3 eras is that they're all equally different. Showa is an alien. Heisei is a result of a time-travel plot. Millennium is a juvenile Orochi (neat nod to the original concept from 1964) who hadn't fully regrown his heads. It gives everyone something different.
gillette I mean that’s a nice reference to this concept, but I hardly makes for a substitute of a film. Especially since I don’t even think there’s a translated version.
The anime novel "Monster Apocalypse" makes reference to the cancelled film. It mentions that during Godzilla's first ever appearance, he killed Anguirus IV, Varan II and Baragon II. Though here, he kills them in Los Angeles.
Same here. Mothra and King Ghidorah have appeared in WAY MORE MOVIES than Varan, Baragon and Anguirus. HELL! Varan and Baragon only appear in 2 movies: Their Debut films: Varan the Unbelievable, and Frankenstein Conquers the World, And again as brief cameos in Destroy all Monsters. They need more attention!
@@BigGonorrhea It's the appropriate response of everything u try to drown Doge u get drowned, but like tbh I had real emotional investment in that doge, and got super happy seeing the scene were it was rescued
@Zeppandon Productions Well yes, but canonically this ghidorah has much more room for improvement. It has the potential to grow like 15 more heads, effectively quadrupling its power and easily making it stronger than most other ghidorah versions.
This Ghidorah deserves more love. His portrayal may have been stiff and somewhat lazy, but it has so much more going for it, not at all the least of which is his cry, a marked improvement from the bland overused Rodan cry from the Heisei era. Sure, it's a reuse of the Showa cry, but that cry was always better than the Heisei.
Absolutely loved King Ghidorah in this one. After the MonsterVerse's, he's easily my favorite incarnation of the character. Don't care what nobody says, he was a badass in this movie. In my Godzilla universe, he's even a different species with a more benevolent nature.
I dont think she killed the dog because she probably didnt notice or hear it especially cause there were teens being louder than the dog. And she immediately cocooned herself.
A good guy ghidorah was an amazing twist, though I have to say seeing varan and that design of angirus in place of king ghidorah and mothra is something I would have rather scene. Not to say they weren’t awesome but varan needs more love and it would have been cool to see another serious angirus battle.
Really nice job with syncing their roars to the music. Personally love GMK the way it is, but I admit it would've been interesting to see Angurius and Varan updated for a new film, maybe someday. Keep up the great work!
I think Rodan would have been a good replacement for Varan. He's got popularity Varan doesn't, but making him into a guardian monster would fit him more than Ghidorah (known as a villain). Instead of Ghidorah gaining wings, it would be Rodan becoming Fire Rodan (an already established entity). Maybe even switch Mothra and Rodan's roles around, having Rodan's death allow Mothra to enter her Imago form? I think that would have been better, but this is still a great movie.
@@wild-strike godzilla vs biollante was a flop Godzilla 2000 was a flop Godzilla vs megaguirus was a even bigger flop It seemed like whenever toho wanted to bring in new monsters the movies would flop unless they had very interesting characters to back them up. Godzilla vs megaguirus flopped so hard it nearly killed the millennium era just when it got started so having less popular monsters take the spotlight probably would of had the movie flop in time toho was playing it safe
I'm pretty sure the GMK version of Mothra is the partial inspiration for her MonsterVerse counterpart's design, since both GMK and MonsterVerse Mothras resemble hybrids of Atlas moths and Asian giant hornets (MonsterVerse Mothra also have a venomous stinger, which she used to injure Rodan).
Really interesting seeing Ghidorah as a good guy for once. Not sure it's something I'd want to see more of as I love him as the villain but it's a cool change of pace.
Can I just say that the only time that Ghidorah wasn’t mind controlled he was frozen on earth, and wasn’t truly evil, in GMK he was a guardian, and in KOTM he was simply showing dominance over the other titans.
GMK is hit or miss for me personally. The soundtrack is great, it's visually stunning, and it has no continuity with the other G-films. However, I feel Mothra and King Ghidorah are becoming a tad overrated nowadays, since they've appeared in way more films than Varan, Baragon and Anguirus.
@@ljpark7108 I just wish Toho kept Kaneko's original idea of Godzilla against Varan, Baragon and Anguirus, instead of GMK. Cause I want the underdogs to get time to shine. Especially with all the shaft Varan has gotten over the years. Plus If I wanted to see Mothra or King Ghidorah, I'll watch the earlier G-Films.
GMK is my ALL TIME FAVORITE Godzilla films! The monster ass kicking action is just so invigorating! The city destruction scenes are both emotional and scary! This is one Godzilla film I could binge watch forever!
M( othra 1961) K( ing ghidorah 1964) 2 iconic kaijus of the monsterverse who've dazzled us with GRAVITY BEAMS and SILK ATTACKS galore TOHO//LEGENDARY Keep up the outstanding work
Godzilla: The King of the Monsters, The Big G Mothra: The Queen of the Monsters, The Divine Moth Rodan: The One Born of Fire, The Fire Demon King Ghidorah: The King of Terror, The One Who is Many King Kong: The King of Skull Island, The Eighth Wonder of the World
For my opinion they must start bringing back monsters that appeared only once. If we had a new Biollante,it would be nice. If we had a new space godzilla,it would be nice. If we had a new varan,a new anguirus,a new megalon,it would be nice
Odd as it is, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Ghidorah in a heroic role again in the future given the right set up. That said, a bummer Anguirus and Varan got canned, would have been nice to see them both again.
My version of gmk is another GMK. Its called Godzilla, Mothra and King Caesar: Giant monsters all out attack. The villains are King Ghidorah and Gigan. The hero monsters are final wars Godzilla and 2003-2004 mothra, and the 3 guardian monsters King Caesar, kumonga and GoroSaurus.
People always complain that this Ghidorah is a good guy, but this a completely different story that has nothing to do with any other G films except the original. In my opinion Gmk Ghidorah is one of the best Ghidorahs, I like his design, origin story, and sounds. He seems like an underdog, which makes you root more for him in the fight. And it makes sense that they made him good, because in Asia dragons are usually depicted as good creatures. So no matter what any one says about him, he will always be one of my favorite incarnations of King Ghidorah, and he will always stand over the overrated MV King Ghidorah.
I think its awesome how all the people working on it basically make it a pseudo Gamera Trilogy reunion. Which probably explains why this is one of the best Godzilla films
I like to think of GMK as some bizarro parallel universe to the Showa series (due to having an evil Godzilla, a good King Ghidorah, and a creepy Mothra).
5:45 man: that's it im gonna end myself *phone rings* Man: Hello? ???: yo where u at? Man: who is this? ??? oh its ur boi Jake Paul im in the forest just tell me where you are Man: wait, wasn’t that Logan who did that? Jake Paul: I’m here to succeed where my brother didn’t
i think ghidorah sacrificing his shield to use as an attack was a pretty dumb move, after all thats was the only thing protecting him from godzillas breath
Jason Schulman I agree with the Godzilla and Baragon, I still think Mothra’s design is pretty cool considering at the time it was the most unique design mothra ever had. Ghidorah’s design is good and while yes it is a small Ghidorah for the plot of the film it makes sense that he is smaller. It is still interesting to think that technically Ghidorah is still not at full power yet in the film sense he had not grown back all of his heads.
I'm personally not a fan of the GMK Godzilla Suit, since a lot of the proportions feel off compared to other Godzilla suits. But it's not as bad as the one from Son of Godzilla. That one is Ugly!
@@carsenlee7749 Baragon and Mothra in the movie I don't mind too much, the movie should have had Vera in the movie instead of King Ghidorah because I don't like the idea of Ghidorah being the good guy cuz that's a role reversal movie to me.
This film may be the Japan’s way of a simple apology for the atrocities committed, considering that Godzilla was formed from vengeful victims. Though, it may also be insincere, as Godzilla was killed.
What I want to know about this movie is how the hell did some ancient warriors manage to take down Ghidorah? Can you imagine what that fight must have looked like!?
Also, if GMK Ghidorah is implied to be Orochi, MonsterVerse Ghidorah is implied to be the Hydra. Does that mean in the MonsterVerse, King Ghidorah once fought against Hercules?
@@nicholaslienandjaja1815 That would be epic but I don't think so. Monsterverse Ghidorah is 500 feet tall and Hydra wasn't that much taller than Hercules
Lots and lots of alcohol Also Ghidorah being the Orochi implies that there was a bunch of items just inside him, like a sword. And also that he liked to eat young women.
As much as I love this movie, in hindsight I’m not a fan of how every chance the good monsters got to get the upper hand, it always backfired. It really made them all look incredibly weak
GMK and Final Wars are my two favorites from the Millennium series because they were so different. The other films (2000, Megaguirus, Kiryu, Tokyo SOS) were good but felt like business as usual.
I've watched this movie since I was a kid I'm now 20 years old. All this mystical shit completely went over my head and I didnt know half of this stuff. This is why i love Wikizilla, even a lifelong fan like me can find out new stuff about these films years later
Hell! I didn't know anything about Zone Fighter until WikiZilla mentioned it in their Gigan profile! Nor did I know about Go Greenman, until I watched their Manilla Profile video.
I like the idea, that after Godzilla's defeat, he joined the guardian monsters as like the others he was defeated, laid to rest and then they all slept (either at their location of defeat or at their shrine) and they started to regenerate
I love Mothra's color scheme from this movie. I think the purple adds a nice additional splash of color to her wings and eyes. But I still think that Varan and Anguirus would have worked better for this movie.
GMK Baragon needs more love. He was just a punching bag in his only scene, and I think he deserves to be given the chance to earn the title of earth guardian.
I would love to see a video that tells how the events of the original GMK, GVBA (Godzilla x Varan, Baragon and Anguirus: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack) happened. Like tell the story than never came to be
I love how Baragon was just kind of a dumbass in this movie. Like, instead of waiting for backup, but, no. Instead the dumbass charges headfirst at Godzilla. I respect it.
Dr Bright I would like it, but it would ruin the point of Destroyah, he is to be the death of Godzilla not a Kaiju to beat and have a victor that is not taken with him.
@@purplehaze2358 Or the MonsterVerse equivalent of Darkseid or Megatron. My guess is that in the MonsterVerse, he was the inspiration for myths and legends of demons and evil gods (and he was also the inspiration for the Zoroastrian Angra Mainyu, the Christian Satan, and the Mayan Ah Puch). For Destoroyah's buildup, they might make a reference to the Book of Revelations, Dante's The Divine Comedy, or Paradise Lost as well as Zoroastrian texts and the Popol Vuh.
Thanks for the vid Wikizilla your the best when it comes to explaining the history of the Godzilla franchise Godzilla’s Kaiju rivals and allies designs including Godzilla himself throughout the Eras of the Kaiju verse
