Excellent video! I have 2 of these lights that were just installed by contractors. And for some reason they wired the red wire in with the black wire. The lights are not connected to each other they are on separate switches. Also, Neither of them actually work properly. So tomorrow after watching your video, I'm going to fix it myself. Thank you!
I have the same one I hate that you can’t adjust the motion sensor it’s just straight which sucks bec there’s short people who come on the porch and the sensor doesn’t even pick them up
Excellent video. I was a little confused how to install 2 new heath zenith motion lights I just purchased. You gave me some confidence now. Many thx and keep up the good work.
Thanks Jeff great video . I have installed a similar one with pir sensor. However , the light is on permanent and sensor not working. I have rotated the 2 screws for daylight and night light- no effect
I have had this issue sometimes with the light. Sometimes I can fix it by shutting the power off for a minute and back on. If not, there could be something wrong with the sensor or the unit.
I have had two of these lights installed. The front motion sensor does not seem to change the lights back to bright from durabright There looks like a piece of tape across the motion sensor does that need to come off it is on there really tight.
+thecollinzboy i believe dualbrite features may need a dimmable bulb. Most LED bulbs dont work as well although some of the newer LED bulbs can be dimmable as i an currently using inside my house.
Jeff, I have 2 garage lamps (that I'm replacing) that run off a single switch inside the house. Does that mean I should have a "red to red" wire connection inside each outside wiring box where the lamps will be placed? Also, it looks like your lamp has controls on the bottom than can turned OFF by any burglar approaching your door. That doesn't make sense.
Yes that's correct it should be wired up that way. Yes there are controls at the bottom for time delay for how long the light stays on. Test Mode mode as well. I might be changing that light soon with something else.
What do you do with the red wire since you mentioned you only use it if you have 2 units to in stall. I’ve got 2 already installed by an electrician but he did not hook up the red wires
Jeff, i installed two of these yesterday not using the red wire so they worked independently. set the units to work on the dusk to dawn setting and they did not come on last night. any suggestions?
Thanks Jeff! Got mine installed but have a question - the main light switch needs to be 'on' at all times for this to work - I've installed mine at the back door of a detached garage so we also have two regular lights at the front of the garage that are now all the time as well. Is there an easy fix for this?
I know a few people that have had the same issue. They ended up changing the other lights to newer LED lights with sensor / motion. They also have switches on them if you want the lights to remain on at all times. The only other things I can think of is to put a photo cell on those lights which means they will turn off in the daylight and turn on at night.
@@JeffLepard Thanks! I think I'd resigned myself to having to replace the two with motion sensing lights but was hoping you'd have an easier/cheaper option lol Great video by the way - good angles and explanations.
Thanks so much! If I can think of something else I will let you know. I will also ask my neighbor if he has anything other then what I mentioned. He's a license electrician.
Can't you just remove the switch and connect the two wires together (pig tail them) and put a wire nuts on it? Get a cover plate for the switch. It'll be as if the switch is "on" all the time
I had two installed and they flash like a strobe light when they come on. Then when a vehicle goes by they start strobe lighting again. I did notice they the guys who installed them did not connect a ground wire will this make a big difference?
+Heather Bryant Have you tried disconnecting the power from the light either by switch or the breaker? Also, check if there are switches that were changed on the light itself. If none of that works then it could be a defect in the motion sensor.
I have the same light fixture installed today. It does not turn off, ever. Where do I need my settings of the little switches on the housing? It acts like a normal porch light switch up light on, switch down light off.
Mark Davis so the light switch will always be turned on and the settings will be on the actual light. I have mine set on 30 seconds. Try the test mode to make sure it turns on and off. If not it could be the light fixture itself the motion not working properly.
Yes keep the light switch on and setting on motion 1 minute or 5 or whatever. However, once this is done, turn the light switch off and on one more time to set it in motion sense mode. Then go check again
Could be a few reasons. Is there any switches on the light like test mode, time on / time off. Is the light off of a switch? If not else is causing the light to not work with motion it could be the motion sensor on your light not working properly but that would be the last reason.
Jeff Lepard Thanks for the reply! The light is on a switch. When I turn it on, it just stays on. The only switch on the light its self are the time + and sens + which are both turned all the way up.
There could be something wrong with the motion in the light or the sensor not allowing the light to turn off. That is strange! Might have to take the light back and replace it.
Let me see you put a led in thT fixture...didn't work for me I have exact fixture and tried to put led dimmable bulbs in..no go I can see a real dim light .....But when I break the motion field that shuts off
Hi guy you did not explain which wires to connect, I have a exact lamp with the same sensor on which we have 5 wires coming out from, 3 wires coming out from the iner side of the sensor and 2 wires coming out from the outside of the sensor, so the question is which ones we connect to the line.
El Tejano sorry about that. There could be a variety of situations and different wiring. I just didn't want to elaborate on something the viewers couldn't see. Does your light run off of a switch originally?
If you knew Jesus you would know better then to use those other words in the same sentence and He has a spouse for everyone who ask Him to show them who to marry! If you have a relationship with Him that is! By the way good video, thanks for sharing!
