I remap my 2016 Moto Guzzi Griso, reflashing the ECU with a Beetle Map. This is part 3 of the process where I show you step by step how to use the software to save your original map, and write a new map to the ECU. I will also go through how to balance the throttle bodies with a manometer at idle and higher rpms. Textbook reflash, BMR, just like mine was. I have a old tin box of a Windows laptop & your download & upload times mirrored mine, so the performance of the pc being used isn't a factor. But following Beetle's instructions to the letter & his clever s/w definitely are!

Thanks for the video. There's so much talk about removing the canister and tip-over value, but no clear information. Not only on this model Guzzi but many other. This video is clear and easy to follow regardless of model. Mine is a V85TT. Thanks again. Keep them coming. I love the Griso, but prices are increasing here in Australia.

Funny you should ask. I used to have an acquaintance who had one! Not sure if it was a 2004 exactly, but it was a lovely bike. He never washed it, rode it rain or shine and loved every minute of it. Cheers.

Now that you have practiced balancing the throttle bodies on your bike feel free to get further practice on my bikes. 😊 Looking forward to hearing your subjective impressions on the new mapping. A pre and post dyno would have been interesting. Any ideas what other people have found? I know on the RNineT people report no real change in HP or torque with re-mapping, the consensus being that BMW had already wrung out the best you can get. A remap of the Boxer engine certainly did smooth it out under 3000 rpm.

Certainly a difference - more on that in the next video. The bike is also, naturally smoother, probably just the Throttle body balance, which I will now do every year, seeing as I have a manometer (which you are welcome to borrow :-). Y

Beetle's maps won't give you noticeably more power. The Guzzi Hi-Cam 1200's power output is governed by its side draught head design, narrow included valve angle and its camming. If you were to bother putting the bike on a dyno you will probably find a very small increase in peak horsepower but the main benefits are the virtual elimination of the midrange dip in the torque curve which becomes essentially flat! This makes the machine a joy to ride and it will certainly *Feel* quicker. This is an excellently done video on how to balance the throttlebodies. Highly commended. One thing I would mention as it wasn't stated is that whenever the 'Reader' and 'Writer' programs are communicating with the ECU you will get an icon at the bottom of the dash showing a representation of a un-plugged electrical plug next to the letters ECU. This is perfectly normal and is simply showing that the programs are interacting with the ECU. There is no need to panic or try to interrupt the process. Do rest assured though it is pretty much impossible to brick an ECU using the Guzzidiag suite of tools. I've been using the tooling professionally for well over a decade and have never lost an ECU yet, even when experimenting to see if I could by interrupting the upload or download or disconnecting the tooling physically! Something that can't be said of the original factory tooling! Excellent. Informative video. Well done!

@@peterroper617 Thanks Peter - I really appreciate the feedback. The bike shows a little more top end, but the biggest gaine for me is the absence of the fluffy mid range 3000-3500 hesitation. Gone. Lovely - and now purrs! Just done the brakes...bled and new pads. Must have had the original fluid in it - brown, much better on the front; the rear is still very absent for me. I will have to investigate some more - seems to fade very very quickly. Normal, or more work needed? Cheers, and thanks for the help (your video on the throttle bodies was invaluable.)

I own a 2003 Moto Guzzi California Stone Touring , i have owned it since 2005 , didn't know about the clutch issues, and unfortunately it has been parked for a long time, and i had never drained all the fuel , i tried to get out and start it when i could but , it took a long time for me to be able to get a new clutch for it , dual disc now , finally got it in and now its hard to start and won't idle , i thought it was gumed up injectors bit i have ran it with injector cleaner and new fuel for a couple of weeks but its not doing much better , i downloaded Guzzi diag, just dont want to mess anything up

Drain all that fuel, because it'll just re-block the injector ports as it goes through. Then I'd get those injectors looked at first. Very likely still gummed. Ultrasonic clean should fix them. Don't bother reflashing until you've got her running as is. Cheers.
