@@whatcanudo4methoi agree, but many core skaters are afraid to support freestyle because its "uncool" . Tbh if I ever show some crazy freestyling to non skaters most will just go, 'thats kinda cool, is it hard?' Vert is really our best bet, and thats coming from a skater that dislikes skating pure vert
@@BurnsyRunswtf do we care about what the masses will understand or appreciate? But Olympics will never matter for skateboarding so I agree they should put all the freestyle losers in it. All skateboarding is freestyle, freestyle is just skateboarding lite for those afraid of applying their abilities to obstacles
@@thisanthrope666 thats insanely ignorant and uninformed. The best street skaters cant do what the best freestyle skaters do and vice versa. Its an insane comparison to make, the skill set involved has barely any overlap beyond being able to ride and pop a board Do i think its harder to be the best street skater than the best freestyler? Yes of course, because of competition. There are waaaaay more street skaters. It doesnt make freestyle "street lite". Watch a real freestyle competition from current year, not a 13 year old doing a railflip and calling himself the next Rodney Mullen. Skaters like Jonny Giger and Andy Anderson who infuse their street skating with feestyle moves basically prove you dead wrong. These things take thousands of hours, thousands of attempts, to perfect and make nice.
Tony Hawk did when he landed the 900 the first time. He missed it in competition but everyone was so hyped he tried it again after it was over and landed it.
Just being asain. No hate or racism here. One of my best friends back in the day was Asian and he was the only dude I knew who could ghetto Bird and make anything into a pipe to smoke weed out of. Fuckin Macgyver
I think he did this in x games best trick the fact that trick didn’t win is beyond me, looks way more difficult and aesthetically pleasing than the 1st place trick~ best trick in my book hands down
I don’t think anyone imagined the progression would ever reach a level like this back in the day. Tony Hawks 900 was so impactful I think most skateboarders who were around at the time can all recall the event like a pope dying or 9/11. And now this trick is a simple RU-vid clip, Tony Hawk had so much exposure for his 900 it made national news
He tried it like 20 times in this event and wiped out everytime but I never saw it from this perspective.. it’s totally gnarly .. like neck breaking gnarly
that face he makes when he catches the board and knows he's gonna land it... definitely one of the moments that ever occured. a non-slowmo addendum would be cool tho!
I paused this about 20 times through his rotation and those freeze frames are wildd. Each one looked like he's far out and going to hit flat, until his truck taps. it looks like there's no chance hes landing in the tranny. Bizarre man
