In this video I'm giving my initial impressions of the Arai Tour X-4. I also demonstrate how I set up the GoPro Hero 10 Black with Media Mod and a Rode lavalier microphone for great video and audio. I'm using a custom mount from RideTech.

Hi man. Great video 💪 I dont know if you heard that Cardo Edge have audio save now. I dont know if you can save your own audio, but in intercom you can.

I buy white helmets because of the visibility, proven to be the safest!

Great explanation of your helmet setup. Can you comment on the GoPro Hero 10 settings you use please? Lens setting, frames per second, etc. What do you find works best for motorcycle footage? And also how do you know what angle to set the camera to get the best balance of view in terms of dash, road and sky? Cheers!

I like to shoot at a higher resolution than I output, so that I can zoom the frame if I need to. I've found 2.7k is enough when I'm publishing at 1080p, and it uses less space and battery than 4k. I'm shooting 50fps so that I don't need to change it if I'm doing a shot in the garage with lights on (UK is 50Hz power) - you might choose 60fps. I have the lens set to wide on both cameras. I find this gives a wide enough view, without it getting too distorted. It all looks really good straight off camera, though RU-vid does degrade that quite a bit. I find auto exposure on the helmet cam does a great job, but the handlebar cam has more sky in frame, so it tends to underexpose me. I have to lift the brightness a little in post. For angles... on the helmet cam, I experimented using a mirror to get the camera looking straight ahead when my head is held normally, then I checked it with some test recordings. Now that I now the angle for the bracket, I just set it the same every time. On the handlebar cam, I don't always get this right, but the Hero 10 has a screen on the front so you can adjust before you set off. I should say that since this video, I bought another Hero 10 to use on the handlebar, and I have the GoPro Remote to start and stop both cameras. They don't start and stop at exactly the same time, so I use my thumb and forefinger like a mini clapper board, and I can use that to sync the clips in edit. Hope that helps 😁

Is it loud? I tried the shoei hornet and with the padding removed at your ear to install cardo speakers the helmet was too loud.

There’s a bit of wind noise from the beak, but otherwise I’d say it’s OK. Not the quietest helmet I’ve had, but by no means the loudest. I always wear earplugs anyway so I may not be the best judge.

Great video indeed, I've got the XD-4 and previously used the GoPro but have removed that and swapped it out with the Insta360 One RS. I'm really struggling with my audio set up, there's just too much noise. The Purple Panda seems to be cutting out a lot so I've got a new RODE Lav Mic. Still struggling with the wind noise. Yours is sounding amazing, very clear and very little wind noise. I'll have to have another go and setting the mic up again.

I also use a the Insta360 One RS - great camera. I have the mic pointing slightly up as most of the noise comes from the underside of the helmet. I use mine with the standard foam filter on, but it’s also worth trying the furry cover if you have one.

@@CGRidesMotorcycles Will do that for sure, the standard foam filter has been working really well so far, it's always trial & error!

@@ADVBrett It's been a learning curve for me too! I've been able to clean up the audio quite nicely in Davinci Resolve too.

Great video. Are you still using this same setup? How is holding up?

Yes I am, and it has been great. Only thing I’m not keen on is the Media Mod case making it awkward to change batteries. If I was doing it today I might go with DJI.
