Three and a half days on the road of the Weser Renaissance. A motorbike tour through the Weserbergland region, including the journey from northern Germany. The themed route takes me from Bremen to Hildesheim. Over a distance of around 800 kilometres, I will get to know some of the stations that gave this regional expression of the Renaissance its name. The first one and a half days take me from the Hanseatic city of Bremen to Bad Salzuflen.
The Weser Renaissance is an art and architecture movement that developed in the 16th century as a regional expression of the Renaissance and can be found especially along the Weser. The Weser Renaissance is known for its characteristic stylistic elements such as oriels, richly decorated gables, partly half-timbering, often ornamentation and frequently the use of regional sandstone. Impressive buildings from this era can be found in large numbers along the Weser, so much so that there is even the Weser Renaissance Road as a themed route, which I largely used as a guide when planning the tour. However, since the theme route does not always follow the most beautiful motorbike routes, I have adapted the route somewhat.
Since I live near Bremen, I'll start my tour with a trip to the lively Hanseatic city, which nestles so beautifully along the river, which I'll ride up more or less 800 metres in altitude. In this part I will push south to Bad Salzuflen.
01:39 Bremen
07:30 Erbhof Castle, Thedinghausen
11:30 Kaiser Wilhelm Monument
13:58 Bückeburg Castle
20:12 Bad Salzuflen
