In this second part of my three-day motorbike tour, I travel along the Weser Renaissance Road and through the Weserbergland region from Bad Salzuflen to the source of the Weser in Hannoversch Münden. Stops on this tour section include Brake Castle with the Weser Renaissance Museum, the Hermann Monument, Schwöbber Castle, Hämelschenburg Castle, the dreamy moated castle of Thienhausen and the rococo-style Wilhelmsthal Castle.
The first part started in the Hanseatic city of Bremen, with its town hall, Böttcherstraße and the Schnoor district, and led to Bad Salzuflen. Stops there included Erbhof Castle in Thedinghausen, the Kaiser Wilhelm Monument near Porta Westfalica and Bückeburg Castle.
The Weserbergland is a low mountain range region in Germany that extends over some 5,000 square kilometres along the Weser. It is located in the federal states of Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse. It is bordered by Porta Westfalica in the north and Hannoversch Münden in the south. The Weserbergland is characterised by a varied landscape of rolling hills, dense forests and picturesque half-timbered towns. The landscape is perfect for hiking and cycling, but this time I'm drawn to the gently rolling roads by motorbike alone. The hills of the low mountain range rise up to 530 metres into the sky.
All in all, a region that motorcyclists should not underestimate, because the Teutoburg Forest and the Solling-Vogler Nature Park are also easy to explore by motorbike.
On the third and last day, we will travel through the eastern half of the Weserbergland to Hildesheim. There I will visit the Weser Skywalk at the Hanoverian Cliffs, Bevern Castle and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Corvey before heading home.
