Your story telling of this adventure is second to none! I love that you are bringing your experiences from a less shown part of the world to the masses and contrasting the interesting cultural and scenic vistas. This looks like a National Geographic quality production. Like others have said yours is more polished than many of the popular you tuber/bloggers. Looking forward to seeing more. I also appreciate your "roll with the punches" attitude and perseverance. Well done indeed.👍
I've been watching your entire vlog in order. This is by far the best video to date. I liked the trailer but I am really enjoying this. Thanks for talking about the culture and expectations of Japan.
@@advinjapan You don't have to take whatever, you are doing great man. Good entrainment and relaxed viewing forget the bike, but yes I love the bike. I have tried myself, but my go pro 3 plus, just doesn't cut it as far as quality goes and the lack of stabilization makes for terrible viewing. Will get there and share some trips from around here in South Africa one day, until then I will learn from you.
The epic adventure I was waiting for. Thanks bro for sharing your adventures! Excellent filming and post-production. Very professional, took you a lot of time, I guess. Keep on going!
Really appreciate you going to the trouble to film, edit and post so much. Great blend of the practical, personal, and cultural travelogue. Great to see the road less travelled in Japan, and to hear someone who has gone to the trouble of learning what must be a very difficult language. Keep it up!
I really appreciate it. To borrow from Field of Dreams, “If you build it, they will come”. I’m doing my best not to focus on numbers. Just doing what I love.
Same shit happened with me in and the cops 2 weeks ago on the toll roads in Odaiba. Such complicated bullshit hahaha. Love how you gave them shit back.
Yeah, it’s a shame. The irony is I know they don’t want do this and neither do I, but it’s just “protocol”, can’t help it here. I thought your channel used to be ADVJapan? You change?
If nothing more, the hardships and struggles make for more entertaining videos so there is a bright side. Amazing start to the series! Can't wait for the rest of the adventure!
Hokkaido Pt.2 - bring it on :D Really enjoyed this one, one question aside, are you still on your first set of TKC70s? Or did you already get your 2nd pair?
Dude my mind was blown when they had to call the cops just for you to take a u turn, like WOooot de fook O.o lol ...cant imagine something like that happening here in India ...btw you sound like them Anime narators when you speak Japanese :) Subbed :D
Looks like a great scenic adventure. Good to see the area slowly recovering. Was such a horrific disaster. Im interested in your outfit you are wearing. Ive just got my learners(at 57) and bought a Honda Rally 300 but as Ive been looking for protective gear I hate the feel and look of the all in one and zip in liners of 98% of the ADV jackets. And think a layering system that will double up as clothing for when not on the bike seems a better approach. Would be keen to hear your thoughts.
Hey thanks for the comment. I use a three in one jacket just because we have a full four seasons where I’m at. But sometimes even things just too hot in the summer so I use an armored shirt by Icon. You can see my jacket here in more detail: 2023 #19 - KTM 390 Adventure | What & How I Pack for Motorcycle Camping ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wEb9voN1heo.html
@advinjapan nice it looked different than the Komine in that video. I'm thinking of the Knox armoured base layer Urban Pro Mk 2 and then adding on top what I need on the day. That way, I can add a puffer jacket and a waterproof shell. Or just ride in the armour. And everything doubles up as normal clothing when not on the bike. All the jackets I've seen are so heavy, and the layers underneath just seem like a waste of time as most so ugly or can't wear on their own and fiddly to fit back into the jacket. I don't know. I'm just starting out, but these super heavy jackets do seem a waste.
@@Galvoflysoz ah I see, yes, the icon armored shirt I’m wearing is actually very close to the Knox Urban Pro. I love my armored shirt, it’s very flexible, and the abrasion protection very good. Not a lot of padding, but if you’re off road mostly, padding isn’t much of an issue for upper body. The Komine I used mainly for on road and winter. Sounds like you’ve got a plan that works for you. That Knox shirt is fantastic from what I hear so.
At 63 Im a big fan of the right protective equipment as it really pays off dividends for us newer riders. I just took up Motorcycle Adventuring & Off-Road and had been riding a T700. I flew over the bars and crashed it many ways and the worst was a bruise on my calf between my high MX boot and the knee protection. I'd surely had broken ankles and leg from my dismounts if it was not for the protection. After feeling like the weight of the T700 is too much for my skill level I rightsized to the 2021 KTM 390 ADV. I haven't taken it anywhere yet but will soon embark and feel like it will be the perfect ride for me going forward. I wear a lightly armoured Jacket & pant with my armoured shirt when its cool and just the armoured Shirt and kneepads when its hot in California. Always the high MX boots though if there is any possibility of going off-road.
It's not that easy to bend that 390ADV rim, so it must have been a really bad hit in the pothole. Many I know who owns the bike built confidence and kept going with the stock alloy wheels instead of upgrading to spoke wheels for their occasional off-road adventures. Not advisable but KTM wheels are usually really good alloy or spoke :).
Yes, I was too was very surprised. This pothole was left over from the Tsunami, it had to be at least half a foot deep and I was going slow so when I hit it. The wheel just slammed dead stop into the front of the hole. I thought I dropped my engine I hit it so hard 🤣.
@@advinjapan The 2022 390 adv has a 10-spoke rim which is more rigid than the pre 2022 model which has 12 spokes. Maybe it's an idea to upgrade to the 10-spoke model? I also would suggest calling them right away if they have a spare rim in stock. Backorders can take some time.
@@BraapBanana_ 🙏 thanks, yes, aware of this. I’ll probably wait till my current tires are done before I make my move. It’s likely I’ll have to wait for months. Japan is horrible with stock for the 390 adv.
